WW TEs (1 Viewer)

4 weeks into the season an TE production has been dreadful. Guys like Vernon Davis, Heath Miller, Kellen Winslow, Chris Cooley have all been terrible, Shockey is hurt and now so is McMichael. Theres a bunch of TEs who emerged this week that should be available on your WW. Lets discuss the following TEs who may be available-

Zach Miller- Obviously very talented but with Oaklands poor passing game I dont expect many big games. That being said he should be a solid lower end TE1 the rest of the way

Dustin Keller- 2 TDs 2 weeks in a row. Has the most upside IMO due to Brett but both his TDs came in garbage time.

Greg Olsen- Orton has improved and Olsen looks pretty good. The #s arent there yet but I think they could be rising as the season goes on. Nice sleeper.

LJ Smith- May have been dropped due to injury. Had a great week 1 and is in a high powered offense.

Joe Klopfenstein- deep sleeper but former 2nd rd pick may perform well in Saunders TE friendly offense

I'm targeting the likes of Delanie Walker, Kevin Boss and Owen Daniels for a KWII bye week cover this week. My league is pretty light on TEs (most teams have only rostered one TE).

I dropped Carlson in my league due to the bye week and picked up Billy Miller to cover until Shockey gets back. Where does Carlson with Engram/Branch returning and Miller rank among the TEs mentioned (PPR)?

I got TE problems all over the place too with Shockey hurt and Kellen and Miller on bye! Unfortunatly Fassano is not on waivers any of my leagues as most teams roster 2 or 3!

I just started my week 5 maintence and first league I need a TE this week to replace SHOCKEY AND MILLER I have the Monday night game choice or Stevens.

Gonna take a chance on Shinocoe vs Miller last game of week. Should be a shoot out and who knows what they come up with. Knowing my luck if I need 8 pts the one I pick will get me 7. Going to give Sinacoe a one week tryout it looks like!

He seems to be getting by far the most targets of what I have to pick from!

I drafted LJ Smith as my under the radar guy. He was money for me in a dynasty I used to be in. Week 1, I looked like a genius. Then weeks 2 and 3 came. Heap is not the answer.

I currently have Carlson then Shiancoe on WW bids.

Great question about John Carlson. I too dropped him as him & Anthony Fasano were my TEs and both on bye last week. Picked up Dante Rosario for last week, and will probably drop him for another TE.Debating grabbing Carlson, or Zack Miller or Greg Olsen (both of whom ironically were my originally drafted TEs).

In the spirit of the thread, I'll probably opt to pick up Olsen. I think Miller was a mirage and benefactor of SD sucking vs. TEs. I just don't think Oakland will throw enough to justify playing him.

Olsen, OTOH, looked really good and was a top target of Orton. Factor in the fact that Chicago is actually embracing the forward pass and you could have a real nice TE down the stretch. Recent pedigree of U of Miami TEs doesn't hurt.

May as well through Rosario into the discussion as well. I thought he looked flat out sensational in Week 1, but has definitely trailed off. Given last week the Panthers threw like 90% of their passes to WRs, much like Miller in Oakland, I don't know that the target opps will be there to justify holding on.

i'm sticking with carlson this week.. i want to see how the situation with branch/engram returning plays out for him.

ill have my eyes on keller after the bye

As a fellow KWIII owner I am targeting Rosario and Z. Miller this week. Most teams have 2 TEs rostered.

With an OL coach as the new HC in Oakland, that could bode well for Z.Miller. The Raiders are a run first team, but they will find themselves forced to put the ball up, as they in all likelyhood will be losing late in games, probably earlier. OL coaches love TE's.

Carlson had a huge favorable match up week 3 and got nothing but a couple targets

because of the running game sucess and easy blow out he was asked to block all day.

Shinacoe is at least getting targets weekly plus the prime time effect and expected shoot out I will use Shinacoe over Carlson this week where I have choice and see what develops in Seattle one more week as the receiver crew will be on it;s weekly musical chairs. Beside you know against Giants Carlson is gonna be asked to block one heck of a lot once again and will be needed to block most the game to keep Hasselbeck alive from them Giant swarms of bees that will be all over him!

Was actually looking at the bigger picture moving forward, hence the word "games". Not a Miller owner or interested buyer, just commenting on his new situation as of this afternoon and upside potential.

Miller will score the same ammount of pts this week as LJ did in week 2 & 3 and Stevens did this past week...

Umm no. This thread was intended to discuss TEs available on the WW who can help you out for the rest of the season. This thread had nothing to do with bye week fill ins.

Stevens could be a sneaky play as a one week fill-in.Galloway iffy for week 5. Griese back in Denver (payback?) other than Bryant, who are they going to throw to?

How opposing TEs have done against Denver so far this year.

wk1 Z.Miller 4/34/0

wk2 A.Gates 4/61/0

wk3 J.Shockey 8/75/0

wk4 T.Gonzalez 3/47/1

I think Kevin Boss is interesting. He was mainly blocking but then got used in receiving in week 3. Combine that with Plax concerns...

I'm a Heap owner and I'm getting VERY tempted to outright dump him to the pool, as there's virtually no trade value there. So far this is the weakest start for

TE's that I can recall.

The OP's post does seem IMO more geared towards WW TEs for the season remainder, not just bye week fill ins. That said, Shiancoe seems to be getting targeted more than some that have been mentioned in this thread. However, is he 38 years old? At that age, can we expect him to produce in anything other than spurts?

Also, Walker in SF looks interesting but inconsistent as well. With Battle emerging and Johnson hopefully getting back up to speed, I don't see much coming out of the TE position in SF. Plus, the Martz factor hasn't favored TEs in the past.

:goodposting: This makes sense to me. Olsen is available and Orton seems like he's going to put up respectable numbers for the rest of the year. Problem for me is do I burn a waiver to play him this week against a good match up with Detroit for a week until Shockey comes back? Then again I guess I could keep him as a backup TE in case Shockey pulls up lame again. Another poster in this thread really made another nice post about Carlson playing the Giants this week staying in to block and I also suspect with Engram/Branch back his targets will dip.

Baker scares me . . .

Sorry Pooh and MCg.. I came here thinking about one week replacement. The thread is about the entire year. My bad!

At least you all were reminded Miller won't do you any good this week!

Scaiffe seems to be both Collins and Youngs favorite TE target. Surprised me!

But Fisher jsut said today he is going to find a way to get Crumpy involved and I don;t trust either. They are not available anyway that I saw. Both taken!

I sticking to Shinocoe as a one week wonder. I like the prime time match up.

Guys always give a little extra effort prime time! He is less likely to lay a goose!

speaking of... just match your bye week with whoever is playing TE vs sd that week.

just a bump on this thread, but what do you guys think about Reggie Kelly from Cincinnati?

might Ryan Fitzpatrick need a short passing option maybe?

Isn't Utecht in the mix as well for Cincy? I know he was hurt to start the season, but I thought I read he was close to coming back. Either way, the current incarnation of the Cincy offense does not feature the TE, and I don't expect that to change even if the Harvard kid is starting at QB.

I'm liking Visanthe Shiancoe. He's tied for 7th in targets with 20 including 8 last week.

New Orleans is 22nd vs. TE

Then again, Denver happens to have played two of the top 10 TEs in the game all time, as well as the very talented Shockey. No shame in giving up 61, 75, and 47 to those three...The problem with Denver is that they're so easy to run against and their offense so potent, that if Gruden has any brains he'll run all day and keep them off the field.

He gets his looks for sure. He would have 3 tds if he could have caught some easy TD throws that he dropped. He seems to be catching the ball better the last 2 weeks. Not sure why, but he dropped everything TJack threw at him. I just picked him up to use this week as a bye week filler.

BTW the top 4 TEs I mentioned in my OP were scooped up this week. Itll be interesting to see how it plays out and if someone got a decent starting TE for the rest of the year.

They could throw to Dunn, Graham, Hilliard..or their other TE Alex Smith...which is precisely what happened last week.

Anthony Fasano of the Dolphins plays the Chargers this week who have been getting worked by TE's so far this season.
Yards + TDs allowed by SD to Opposing TE#1:
Code:
CAR 96 + 1DEN 64 + 2NYJ 41 + 1OAK 95 + 1AVG 74 + 1.25
Hooray for these guys I guess.

No one is high on Olsen with all of the Bears WRs banged up?
Yeah I've gotta agree with this. Olsen has been gradually getting more involved in the offense with each week while Clark seems to be declining. The other side of that coin is that Shiancoe has no other TE (or really many star WRs for that matter) taking catches away from him. Having said that, I think I would probably go for Shiancoe as my bye week fill in for Winslow this week but Olsen as a potential TE over the long haul this season.Just my :hifive:

Thanks for your analysis. I'm thinking about starting Shiancoe as well but didn't know where to put him as I haven't seen any Viking games this year.Another TE I am seeing rated pretty high is Carlson but don't know how much love he's gonna get with Branch/Engram returning and the Giants D bringing blitzes all game.

Branch is what? 8 months out from reconstruction? I'm not sure I would be counting on big production from him for most of the rest of the season. Just a hunch.

Guys check your waiver wire for Ben Watson. Belicheat is always full of surprises and he's due for his annual big game one of these weeks.

I picked him up for my Shocky/Miller replacement this week one league.

I'm targeting the likes of...and Owen Daniels for a KWII bye week cover this week. My league is pretty light on TEs (most teams have only rostered one TE).
2007: 6th among NFL TEs in both receptions and yards2008: 6th in receptions per game, 4th in targets per game, 3rd in yards per game

He's been my bye week TE 3 years running.

This year I consider him 1B with Winslow - similar yardage numbers, neither is a great RZ option.

Career stats - Owens 8 TDs in 33 Gs, Winslow 9 TDs in 38 games.

I have not seen him on waivers in a few years. Sure wish I played in some of these jr leagues.

Yeah, we only see this cliche posted 30 or 40 times per week (day). Here's a thought: some leagues are shallow and don't allow many bench players?

This seems very similar to the John Carlson situation when ALL the SEA WRs were out. FBG predictions have this guy getting TWO catches? I just can't see that. IMO he's goof for 5 carches 40-50 yds and a score. I know detroit hasn't been giving up tons of TE looks this year, but this will be a new team, with potentially new defensive and offensive philosophy. That I only am sitting Dante Rosario (since Shockey is brokey) here makes this a low risk high reward play IMO this week. orton has to throw to someone? That and everyone knows detroit can't defend the run, and chicago will run all day. Seems like a nice recipe for a few play action shots to Olsen, especially in the red zone, where I have a feeling the Bears might be a lot vs my Lions.
