WWYD - Golf injury edition (1 Viewer)

How do I know your ankle/fibula wasn’t broken before you played your round.?

But with that being said...

Golf Course’s carry “General Liability Insurance”

Basic coverage includes property damage, bodily injury and resulting medical payments,

coverage of legal fees, and personal slander and libel coverage.

Also, was there any Alcohol involved.?

I’m no lawyer but hot women driving around plying us with Bloody Mary specials every 4 holes, then sending us into a booby trapped course is reckless endangerment or entrapment. Now we are talking criminal charges.

Lets say you have a small hole in your front yard - and you know about it - and the mailman does not see it, and breaks his ankle - you could be liable.
Mailman is taking his own risk of walking on my lawn, as a shortcut, presumably. The paved walkway I have in my yard should be the route he walks on. Not my fault if he chooses to not walk on pavement.

It sounds like it was a giant hole, hard to see, by the green. I certainly think it's reasonable to think one can walk free around the greens on a course.

A golf course, like any business, still has a reasonable duty of care.  Certainly, they can't foresee or fix any gopher holes or whatever in waste areas, etc.  But a big hole around a green? I think it would be reasonable to expect a business to fix such a hole provided they knew or should have known about it.
It was probably a removed sprinkler head.

This may be true but if he falls and breaks his hip because it was icy you are toast.  Hole in pavement, toast.

Paved walkway or not, I don't think you could leave camouflaged "leg breaker" type holes around your yard though.

No he isn't. He is on company time any injury at work would be covered by the USPS. Whether they decide to go after you would be another thing.

Not necessarily medical payments coverage. In fact our company expressly chose not to buy that coverage. The reason is because it pays everything regardless of liability, and that’s dumb and expensive.

Exactly what I was thinking. Unless this course is the biggest POS in America, a hole of that size next to the green isn't natural and definitely was known by somebody. Doesn't mean it was reported up the chain of course but that could be where the problem was.

He stepped in a hole where there’s acres upon acres of land. It sucks, but I don’t see how the course is at fault in any way here.

Update: My friend left multiple messages on the GM’s phone, received no call back. They know he broke his leg.

One of the guys we played with went back today and took a picture. His putter standing up goes halfway into the hole, the thing is probably close to 2 feet deep.

Pretty shocked how stupid this course is.

Them not fixing it is awful.

I hope your buddy goes after them. That kind of negligence and lack of customer service deserves what it gets.

Yep. Time to unleash.

At a minimum he needs to ask for some balls, two corn dogs at the pro shop, and a date with the groundskeepers assistant to the assistant.

He’s a pretty mellow guy and I don’t think he really even wants anything. To not call him back and after seeing the picture I’m pretty shocked how ####ty they are handling this.

He’s now going to have to go down there and talk to them.

I’m definitely not playing there again unless there’s some explanation as to what’s going on here.

I’m thinking some serious ### kissing followed by some long (made up) apologetic explanation as to why no return call.

Then a free round, some beers.
