Tell Us Something That Brought You Joy & Made You Smile Today (1 Viewer)

Today I noticed this thread for the first time.

Not sure if I shared this but my college buddy who lives in Bend now is going to do a huge camping/hiking trip through the Olympic Peninsula, North Cascades and Ranier. I basically copy/pasted everything you wrote and followed with my trip recap. He was so thankful! He had a follow-up question I'll ask you offline.

You should be a tour guide. You're like a better looking Rick Steeves

Went to our neighborhood pool and there was this little kid who reminded me of the kid from Jerry Maguire. Kept asking me random questions like, “have you been to my Mimi’s house?” and “why are you in the pool?” :lmao:

We brought in a taco truck, did our own charcuterie boards, got some custom mini-bundt cakes and cookies with their future colleges on them. lots of beverage varieties (selected 5-6 wines to have on hand)...they got non-alcoholic and beer options. i almost made a large batch of watermelon agua fresca. glad i didn't as it was a warm day and i would not have had enough

wonderful weekend

Sounds like a great party. Congrats dad!

a most excellent weekend: daughter graduated HS on friday. we co-hosted a party for 100+ yesterday

on a more superficial note, i have a car arriving today. very excited. would have preferred to do the seattle/portland road trip but still psyched for it.

Nice! Congratulations my friend. Did you cater the party or cook for it. 100+ is A LOT!

Terrific! I'd like that watermelon Agua Fresca recipe if you're in the mood to share.

So cool about the cupcakes. What a neat idea.
these days i just pull recipes from the net for proportions and adjust taste as i go.

at home i typically just do a few now and then (trying to watch my sugars: Watermelon, pineapple (and sometimes pineapple/coconut... and POG). every once in a while i'll add a sparking water (flavored la croix)

Happy to help in any way. I'm also less stoned than Rick Steves, though that's not necessarily a plus.

My daughter and her friend crushing their goal fundraiser at their annual lemonade stand. They’re raising their goal. Benefiting our favorite place, St Jude.

I love that your daughter is giving back. What a beautiful story…

This is one of my daughters research projects.

My 2yo grandson asked my wife if she wanted to see his butthole.
Went for a quick day trip last week and in the most joking/loving way he called her a dummy.

(Our daughter was not amused so we had to stifle the laughs)

As a guy, I believe there are certain milestones in life that serve as significant events a man remembers in perpetuity....a first kiss or driving a car all alone.

For me, one such event was getting a Swiss Army Pocket Knife as a boy. Man, I cherished that thing and thought I was the coolest kid in the world with a pocket knife dangling off my belt. Can still picture it today - fire engine red, just beautiful.

Well, today I'm going to REI to buy my twins Swiss Army knives for their 9th Bday. We depart for a long camping trip Sunday so will give them their gifts early. Words do not capture how excited I am to see their expressions when they open these.

As the late, great Wikkid was fond of saying - "The give is the get". So simple yet so perfect.

Also buying a new First Aid kit for the trip. ;)

Buddy and his 7 year old boy went to the indoor archery range with me this afternoon. The boy was learning and was being coached by one of the staff there. Had some struggles, had some okay shots. Didn't hit the target a ton.

As we got ready for our last round of 5 arrows to shoot before we left, I told the kid, "Hey, if you get an arrow in either the red or the yellow in this set, I'm getting you a pack of Skittles from the vending machine."

Kid strings his first arrow onto the bowstring, pulls back, takes aim... and fires it into the red. Immediately turns around, hangs up his bow, and sits down (with 4 arrows left in his quiver left to shoot). #micdrop 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Watching the neighbor take one in the jewels when his dog whacked him wth a forepaw at the park earlier this evening. Guess that'll teach him to keep the squeaky bone in his front pocket.

my youngest caught her first trout on a fly rod today take that to the bank brohans
Not today, but a couple of weeks ago while on vacation I took my kids and a couple of their cousins fishing. The oldest cousin got on a hot streak and landed his first 3 fish. He looked over at me and said, "Now I know why people love to fish!"

Today is my dad's 77th birthday and the 16 year anniversary of when he had a stroke. At the time doctors told us he may not wake up. And if he did, he may never be the same again.

He woke up later that day with only some minor vision problems which his brain adjusted for within a few weeks.

Yesterday he left to take my niece on a trip across the country to see his brother and a bunch of his cousins.

I'm grateful for the extra years I've gotten with my dad but more than that, I'm grateful that his stroke allowed me greater appreciation of those years.

In honor of my dad's birthday, I've left a free Slurpee for all of you at 7/11.
