Enough is enough from my (formerly) beloved Dolphins.

I've been a fan of the Fins since my favorite team was uprooted and moved to the Hoosier state in the early 80's. I've lived through a lot of ups and downs with the fish since that time and have always supported my team. Heck, I even made a few pilgrimages to Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Sun Life/Your Company Name Here Stadium.

I've remained a Dolphins fan even in the face of very successful and well run franchises (BAL, PIT, PHI) being forced on me by the local TV stations for the last 25+ years. I wouldn't even attend the Super Bowl parade for my second favorite team (BAL) in 2000, because it just felt wrong. I liked them, but they weren't my team. Surely some day I would fly to south Florida to see the Aqua and Coral ticker-tape parade for the World Champion Miami Dolphins. We were so close for so long. Our time was certainly coming soon.

BUT....

I can do it no longer. The team sucks, the coaching staff sucks, the owner(s) and front office suck. I mean how bad does a situation have to be that SEVERAL guys turn down $7M/year to coach an NFL team?

I can't watch that joke of an offense any longer. I can't cheer for a team that wants the game to be more of a party than a sporting event. I can't get excited for mediocre QB play. We ran Jay Fielder out of town because he couldn't win, but yet look at the parade of scabs, losers, and never-even-coulda-beens that have followed him. At least Fiedler kept us in games, and occassionally made tough plays to pull out a miraculous victory.

Luckily we never signed Drew Brees. I mean that shoulder is just bound to give out any day now. Ask the Dolphins team doctors. They'll tell you. They told me that a few years ago too.

And who could possibly argue with the use of a first round pick for Ted Ginn Jr.? Every team needs a first round punt returner who can't catch. I mean that's been a cornerstone position for Super Bowl winning teams since, well...never.

I thought this year would be different. We signed Brandon Marshall. Brandon freakin Marshall. He's a beast. A genuine downfield weapon. Surely he can take some pressure off the run game and open things up in the passing game. Right? Well apparently the suck factor of the Dolphins can overcome the talent and potential of even the brightest stars.

Well I can't take it anymore. I'm done with the Fish and I'm not coming back. It doesn't matter if Tony Sporano loads Henne, Marshall, Brown and Long on a plane and has them fly to my house and beg me to come back. I'm done. Finished. Kaput.

I probably won't hate MIA. I mean it's not like they're the Cowboys, or even worse, the Steelers. But I just can't even care about them anymore. Teal and Coral, make way for Black and Purple.

Deep discounts, Fire Sale prices. All this Dolphin cr@p must go. Well, maybe not my authentic #11 Jim Jensen jersey

I know its beating a dead horse but while we are dogging the Dolphin org. dont forget the medical team that convinced Nick Saban not to go after Drew Brees. That would have at least rid you of the Parade of Quarterbacks any how.

As a lifelong Lions fan, I feel your pain say shut your trap!

(the rule is you must move before changing teams)

This is correct. We've covered this in other threads. Sorry Dangermonkey unless you move (and if you want to pull for Blatimore, the move has to be in that general direction), you're only response to how bad the Dolphin's are is "I just caint quit you."

Good luck in the draft.

Now, you are of course welcome (as is custom) to have a new favorite team for the playoffs. In other words, I beleive the rules allow that if your team has not made the post season, for you to pick a new "playoff favorite team" to pull for - although once that teams loses, your pretty much done until next season. I think you can even have an AFC and an NFC playoff favorite team (i.e. leading to the matchup you'd likw to see in the Superbowl).

HTH.

You left out that you have a GM who likes to ask top draftees if their mothers are whores. Classy guy that Ireland.

:lmao: Miami fans.

BOOO Freaking Hooooo.

I've seen 40 years of #### and I can't change the color I bleed.

- Jets fan.

:P Miami fans.BOOO Freaking Hooooo.I've seen 40 years of #### and I can't change the color I bleed.- Jets fan.
NOW LETS GO EAT A ### #### SNACK.
:lmao: I sensed it but, I didn't realize what a bunch of panzies Dolphin fans were.....When the Jets get knocked out or Rex Ryan's latest fetish is revealed I don't even want to hear from these bandwagoners.... that's how I roll, in my world a "Sports Fan" who changes stripes is less of a sports fan. Heck, a "Sports fan" who can even think of changing stripes is less of a fan.

So if the Phins win the 2013 Super Bowl, you'll act like you don't care? I'm not buying...

Giving up on a trainwreck isn't as easy as it sounds. Ask any Saints/Browns/Lions/Raiders fan

Wow you're really getting on this disgruntled 'phins guy huh? I'd cut him some slack, he's probably just in a "fight" with his team, like you would get in with your girlfriend and say "It's over, I can't take your #### anymore, I'm done with you!" then 3 days later you're saying "lets just talk about things, I really care about you, I need you."That being said, everyone's got fetishes, the foot one is pretty mild. If he was taking flights over to Thailand during the bye week I'd worry about it. He's a good coach, unreal personality, he provides everyone with a lot of entertainment, like him or hate him. He's also not afraid to hang his balls out there and say a few things on his team's behalf- which is a double edged sword. The proof is in the pudding though, the Jets are a power in the AFC again. How interesting would it be to see Rob Ryan take over in Miami? It'd be "Hard Knocks: Miami Dolphins" for sure. I'm not sure how much the 'phins would improve, but it'd make for more good TV!

I get the impression that he moved to Baltimore years ago, but stayed loyal. And now the long-distance relationship thing has done them in.

Actually it seems, he always lived in Baltimore but jumped to the Phins once the Colts left for Indy.

NEVER fault a guy for switching his loyalties to start routing for the local team.

If it isn't the local team you switch to....THEN you gotta move somewhere close enough to make it the local team. Otherwise, you're just a @%#$^$%*&!@*((#$()$)@(&$ bandwagoner!

Yeah...I got this impression as well. Can't fault the guy for starting to root for his home team again. At least he isn't rooting for the Steelers! :sadbanana:

"It was all that Dan Marino's fault, everyone knows that. If he had held the ball, laces out, like he was supposed to, Ray would never have missed that kick. Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie, son?"

I almost changed allegiances to the Ravens during the Ditka years. The Saints were starting every Billy Joe they could find and had still never won a playoff game while the Ravens were new, interesting, and not too far from my house. The heart just couldn't be swayed though. No matter how embarrassing and hopeless the Saints were, I always had to take a look at what they were doing. It finally paid off 10 years later and I'm so freakin' happy I was able to experience the elation with my fellow Who Dats who didn't give up either.

There's room on the Lions bandwagon :lmao:

Cubs fan here...I don't understand what the problem is. Teams are supposed to lose, that is what makes them lovable.

Actually it seems, he always lived in Baltimore but jumped to the Phins once the Colts left for Indy.
Correct. Born in Baltimore and lived in southern PA for most of my life. I was always a Colts fan as a kid and when they left, I swore off the Colts and became a Dolphins fan since Shula had been a Colt player/coach. I have really always liked the Ravens since the day they came to B-More, but my heart was still in Miami. I would cheer for the Ravens anyday, except when they played the Fins.

OK, let's call Baltimore the team I hated the least. Is that a more grown-up attitude?
Cubs fan here...I don't understand what the problem is. Teams are supposed to lose, that is what makes them lovable.
I'm OK with teams losing. All I want is players who do their best and club officials who try to put a winner on the field. I'm not good with a pattern of mismanagement, apathy, or ineptitude by club officials. When I gave a crap about baseball, I was an Orioles fan. Trust me, I know ineptitude when I see it.

Because of the "teal" shirts you are allowed to switch. BUT you have to choose from teams who have not yet won a superbowl.

At least your team still has the opportunity to meet with top ranked HC's and has an owner willing to spend the money on an HC.

Signed,

-A Raider Fan.

Just to be clear, can you only have an NFC and an AFC team if you moved away from your favorite team's city and moved to a State within the other Conference, or can you just have an AFC and an NFC team for no other reason?

Yes. Because adults are marked by their capricious and illogical rule-making, marked by holding other adults to their construct of reality and loyalty.Oh wait...

DangerMonkey,

good thing you bailed out before this story broke:

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Dolphins have extended head coach Tony Sparano's contract through 2013.

The new deal is an apology from owner Stephen Ross after he put Sparano and his coaching staff in a week-long holding pattern while trying to replace them with Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh didn't want to go to Miami, so Ross is back stuck with Sparano. Sparano is expected to serve an "expanded role in personnel decisions," while attempting to repair his relationship with the owner and GM Jeff Ireland, who both turned their back on him.

My advice is to go to Big Ben's wedding and get plastered.

Guess I won't have to worry about how I'll feel if the Fins win the championship in 2013 anymore.

I feel your pain .............

I remember the year I almost gave up on the Cowboys.

when Tom Landry was fired, it was like a mortal sin.

I only watched one game that year ( at least they beat the Redskins).

someone else said this was like a breakup with a girlfriend.

close maybe, eventually you get over it.

I relate to the Baltimore Colts thing too.

I had 2 favorites as a kids.

Colts and the Cowboys.

time heals all wounds.

now, if Jerry Jones would just realize he can draft defensive players too .

just sayin'

It's strange to see people claiming to be huge fans of one team... but displaying another team's logo under their usernames.

I guess you don't read so well.I'm officially done with the Dolphins and have chosen to support the Ravens from now on. Apparently there's no IQ test to become a Patriots fan.

Make-up sex?

I'd say something but don't want to get too teary eyed for fear of the inevitable beating that would follow.

I wasn't thrilled when Parcells came into the fold; I feel like he is more bluster than substance these days. You didn't have to mention Ginn either... almost drove my car off the road on that one.

I was optimistic going into this season. That actually makes it hurt a little more. The only saving grace is that teams CAN turn it around quickly in the NFL. When (if) they put it together, maybe it will come when we least expect it. In the meantime, thank God for fantasy football.

As a Cards fan i know how you feel....when Warner retired i knew we were heading for another 10 years of being in the bottom tier of the league. i have often thought of changing teams becuase I no longer live in AZ....I just cannot bring myself to do it....Thankfully there is FF so i have interest in other games....

This thread brought back a recollection of a feeling I haven't had in years... the elimination game. Colt's fans are feeling it today and know what I'm talking about - that feeling of finality when you are eliminated. I haven't had that "sick to the stomach" feeling in so long I forgot about it. I guess you need the true belief you can win it all to feel that way.

I forgot the one fatal flaw of my change in allegiance....

I'm once again rooting for a Cam Cameron coached team.

Whoa Miami fans.. You are free to leave now...

Just read that Miami signed BRIAN DABOL to be the new OC

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!???????

This is the guy that held Mangenius back... This guy was a QB coach who lucked into a OC spot in Cleveland and well, I guess he did ok but, Cleveland fans weren't THAT happy....

This guy is horrible IMO and terribly inexperienced - How about finding an OC who can develop a young QB????

Gotta say I LOVE THIS MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodposting:

BUT.. I'm thinking Miami gets Cowher next year.

Pretty sure we're not going to see how I react to a Phins title in this lifetime
