Your Questions for Drew Rosenhaus (1 Viewer)

Chris Yandek

Footballguy
Hi everyone. Because I have had such a great relationship with this board, I thought this would be a chance to give something to the members. Interviewing Drew Rosenhaus this Thursday. Any of you that might have real questions for him, you can post them here. I will consider your questions, but note the interview will be from 10-15 minutes so I probably will only take a few.

I am aware there are fans who don't like him or care for the high profile agent, but if you have any questions feel free to post them here.

Who is your favorite athlete to have represented in your history of being an agent and why? Also, can I have $1,000 dollars?

A lot of players have squandered their fortune, most notably Michael Vick. What steps do you take to ensure your clients long term security?

How much of your client's life are you involved in? Say, if one of your clients wants to see a sold-out concert, do you get the call to get the tickets or does other staff take care of that?

1. As an agent, would you prefer to see the NFL go to fully guaranteed contracts OR do you like the system the way it is so that you can re-negotiate a 5 year contract every 2-3 years for a large signing bonus.

2. Without guaranteed contracts, why publicize the entire size of the contract when everyone is fully aware that the player will never see "all that money"

3. What are your thoughts on rookie salary cap. How did you react to Roger Goodell's comments that Jake Long's contract was ridiculous.

Looking back on the TO situation with the Eagles a few years ago, what, if anything, would you have done differently?

Do you plan on becoming more involved in keeping your clients away from their less than desirable past relationships and environment? I know the NFL has a program, but it seems more and more NFL players are getting into trouble. I would think that because of the time, money, and effort put into these players, agents would be very interested in helping more with this problem.

This has become an issue and will for sure be something to ask since some of these guys don't come from the best communities or have the right people around them.

Have you ever thought about going the "Jerry McGuire" route and just representing a few of the "best" clients? My thought is that this would be the Tiki Barber/Michael Strahan/Troy Aikmans of the world...clients that cause you few headaches off the field and have potential to make money (and require representation) off of the field.

Yeah I hear that's the story behind most KKK members. All hail the Micahel Vick defense! 'course it's no chewbacca defense, but.....

:lmao:

PS that's not aimed at you at all Chris, just amazed anyone could suggest such a laughably weak excuse for dirtbag behavior as anything but with a straight face.

I would suggest the question "when will the NFL get serious about character issues" but then I remember who the questions are being asked of.....

Without naming names, what's the strangest request a client wanted in their contract and what's the most unusual performance escalator you've put in a contract?

When a GM hears that you've been hired as a player's agent, what do you want their very first thought to be?

Which is more staisfying: Getting a long-term deal for a client, or stealing a high-profile player from a rival agent?

What's the biggest mistake NFL teams make when they negotiate a player's contract, and how do you take advantage of that?

Good luck with your interview.

Please thank Drew for coming to Pahokee, Florida, for Anquan Boldin day, and encouraging so many of his other clients to come. There was no press, as I recall. Pahokee's not an A-list vacation spot, but having the role models out talking to these at-risk kids is really praiseworthy. Props to Drew for doing the right thing out of the spotlight.

i'd like to know the answer of this too. is Rosenhaus the ##### for these guys who runs and gets things done when they need something? or is he strictly football/endorsement related negotiations.

They were all good questions, but I'd really like to hear the answer to this, particularly if he gives a "real" answer instead of a cop out one like "It's really more about what my client thinks....".

How many hours of sleep do you get per night?

I truly am curious, I bet this guy never sleeps - he always seems like he's hopped up on Amphetamines.

In his line of work, ritalin is necessary...Ask him if he recommends any college/major for those who'd like to get into the "sports agent" business.

I'd think Adderall would be more common... At least, it would be my preference.

I believe most of the high end ones are JDs, but undergrad curriculum would be interesting to know. Given the NFL, criminal science may be a good one...

Who was your very first NFL client?

As an agent, what steps do you take in determining which college prospects you'd like to pursue as a potential client?

What percentage of NFL franchises do you feel are structured appropriately, capability-wise, to conduct the business you bring to their doorstep?

If one were interested, what would you suggest in pursuing an internship in the business of player agents and representation?

Chris,Good luck with that interview, I don't read every interview you do, although I liked what you did with the owner from that Workout show on Bravo. I am looking forward to this interview, have no questions but I think you allowing the board to whip up some questions is pretty cool.

Cheers

Thank you all for your questions. It's nice to see many NFL fans have different issues and things they would ask someone.

I hope to use a handful of these. Please don't be disappointed if I don't ask your question. It's due to time constraint more than anything. I will continue to do these when I have NFL personalities, but again don't take it personally if I don't ask your specific question.

I appreciate that all of you would take the time to show me what matters to you the fan and the consumer.

Interview should be posted next week.

Chris

Hey everyone. I will be calling Drew in the next hour or so. Thanks again for all your contributions. I have used a few of your questions.

I might have a huge surprise next week, but nothing is set in stone. If the surprise goes as planned then I will again give you a chance to ask.

Regardless of everything, this is my favorite board on the net to come to and read.

Chris
