Worst 5?

Who knows, but you do know that the Lions and Rams are the worst. Let's say the Lions are at the bottom with the Rams slightly ahead. One of those two teams will get the No. 1 overall pick, my money is on the Lions.

AgreeThrow the Bungles in there for the #1 pick.

Good list. I like Carolina better than Dallas and Pittsburg, but other than that....

I submit that PIT, CAR and BUF should be ahead of Denver. Denver lost to a bad Chiefs team, they barely beat New Orleans, should've lost to San Diego and barely beat Tampa Bay. Denver's offense has been solid, but lately the team as a whole has struggled. They don't deserve a top five spot, IMO.

I don't agree Andy. They are two Scobee kicks away from being winless. They can't run the ball and they can't stop the pass. That's a bad combination.

PHI edges out BUF and CAR. DAL is a better team than WAS even though WAS beat them.

DAL is a better team than WAS even though WAS beat them.
Not right now, they are not. Washington is coming off another divisional road win, while the Cowboys just struggled to beat the hapless Bengals...at home. To me, the Redskins are clearly the better team right now.

I agree the Skins should be considered better the Cowboys as of now. However, the top consesus pick so far (NYG) also had trouble with the same Bengals yet that is not mentioned.Waaay too stock is put into early season results as we saw last year. Heck, most in this thread just list the top 5 standings as their "Power Ranking".$0.02.

True, but the Giants are undefeated right now, and have won their other three games in fairly convincing fashion. I doubt many will argue with them being considered the best team right now. And maybe too much stock is put into early season results, but I prefer to base my power rankings on how well teams have played, rather than how good I thought teams were gonna be. Many others do not, which is why they often leave some teams that are underachieving (based on their expectations) too high, and some teams that are overachieving (based on their expectations) too low.

Which would you consider the better team?Team A:Offense #2 points scored #4 total yardsDefense #17 points allowed #14 total yardsTeam B:Offense #17 points scored #6 total yardsDefense #19 points allowed #13 total yards(which was where these two teams were ranked yesterday before the MNF game)

Team A looks better, based on those stats, but when two teams are 4-1, and one of them won against the other ON THE ROAD, that pretty much settles it. When it comes to assessing teams, winning is what matters the most.

I agree the Giants are number 1 (See my rankings above). I'm just saying that it's early and the Power Rankings really don't mean too much in October. Was just trying to illistrate the double standard. That's all.

I can't dispute the top 8 because that's exactly how I have it. I think Wash/Dal are equal. Den/Balt are deserving but I think Tampa/N.O. are knocking on the door. right now I'd say those 4 are a toss up. The Jets will be knocking if they can sweep this stretch of (on paper) easy games coming up.

I am basing my opinion on how the teams have performed overall this season (based on stats not record) not on the results of one game. According to the stats DAL is a better team, in reality it probably is a toss up. By no means is WAS "clearly" a better team.

I have a hard time with power rankings because there are real but subtle differences in how people make them. How they're doing right now? Where we expect them to be ranked at the end of the regular season? Who has the best shot at winning the Superbowl? Who would be favored based on a neutral field? I think the Patriots (3-1) would be favored on a neutral field against Baltimore, Buffalo and Chicago. They are still 3-1, and while they haven't beaten anyone great yet, they've really only had one clunker against a team that introduced a new gadget offense against them - one which beat the next team they faced, as well. Cassel looked a lot better after the bye week, and it looks like he may start getting the ball to Moss after the two spent the last two weeks working together. I'm sure it sounds homerish, but I think this is a team that is highly likely to go to the playoffs. It's way too early to tell if Cassel is capable of keeping them in the Superbowl hunt, but Belichick has experience with helping a young guy like this make great strides throughout the season, and he definitely doesn't need to feed the team "humble pie" to keep them motivated this year. I also think Denver would be favored over Buffalo and Chicago in a neutral field matchup. I think I would take Baltimore over Chicago, as well. So I might change the bottom of your top ten to go Carolina, Denver, New England, Buffalo, Chicago, with Baltimore sitting eleventh. As for honorable mentions, I agree with the people who said Houston is better than their 0-4 record. Jacksonville might be the best 2-3 team in the league. They've had three losses, to Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Tennessee. Indy and San Diego deserve mentions if for no other reason than that they're both fully capable of righting their respective ships. Minnesota might only be 2-3 right now, but they got McKinnie back, and we really haven't seen their defense hit full stride yet. And Miami, one trick pony that they might be, just knocked off two good teams in a row on the back of a resurgent running game, a surprisingly decent defense, and a ball control passing game that can hit the occasional home run. That's a good formula for becoming an above average team.

Dallas D has played teams with offenses ranked 6, 9, 11, 31 and 32 (total yards).Washington D has played teams with offenses ranked 1, 3, 4, 5, and 9 (total yards).Dallas D is ranked 14, Washington 13 (total yards).Based on who they've played, how can you not rate the Washington D as MUCH better than Dallas?

GREAT point.

Teams with a shot at a SuperBowl berth...

1. New York Giants (respect)

2. Tennessee Titans(Haynesworth is key)

3. Washinton Redskins(not expecting much in the playoff, but they deserve this ranking)

4. Dallas Cowboys(talent is everywhere)

5. Carolina Panthers(Steve Smith helps, alot)

6. Denver Broncons(defense will hurt them when it gets cold)

7. Chicago Bears(should be 5-0)

8. Pittsburgh Steelers(offensive line still questionable at best)

9. New England Patriots(what can I say, they are 3-1)

10. Tampa Bay Bucs(solid all-around team)

11. Buffalo Bills(**** Juaron's teams always play hard)

12. San Diego Chargers(expect them to be much higher come December)

13. Indy Colts(see SD)

14. Green Bay Packers(see SD/Indy)

15. TIE Arizona Cardinals/NY Jets(Kurt Warner is great/Brett Favre is too)

17. Minnesota Vikings(passed the ball-check last night)

18. New Orleans Saints(choked last night)

19. Jacksonville Jags(what happened David)

20. Philadelphia Eagles(come on Andy)

With all of this being said, it's still way too early to tell, check back after week 10/some significant injuries.

Everybody else apparently can just lose to anyone else by playing like utter garbage. For the flack NYG got about just beating 'who was on the schedule, i.e. lousy teams', that's way more than the Skins can say.
