I can't imagine any of tonight's teams putting up performances that would cause me to put them in either category. The Vikes and Packers won't crack the top 5 best teams and I can't see the Broncos and Raiders being bad enough to make the bottom 5.

Okay. I was wrong. Oakland is terrible. There is some talent there, but there is absolutely no heart.Al Davis ripped it out and ate it. Then he threw it up and ate it again.

I realize Denver played the lowly Raiders, but people seem to forget that the Raiders had a very stout pass defense last year and added Deangelo Hall and Gibril Wilson, so it should be better this year... yes, we all know D Hall is overrated, but he's still a solid CB, and Royal and Cutler simply put on a clinic.

Denver's defense is still a big question mark but I think they looked markedly improved from a year ago, even taking into account their opponent. They seemed to play with high motors most of the game and had a very aggressive game plan, blitzing the LBs on a regular basis.

What I do know is that their offense is going to be very potent - I think Cutler and the boys will have their way with many an opponent this season.

They remind me a bit of the Colts of a few years back - amazing offense, sub-par but opportunistic defense. I think they could surprise a lot of people. This week's game against SD will be the big test of where they are as a team.

Sure has. I didn't think they had it in them to be a wild card contender. Given the struggles of teams like Cleveland and Jacksonville, they have a great shot at making noise in the playoffs.From the little I watched, Clady looked good. Royal obviously was good too. I still think the dline is a concern if they're playing someone other than a JV team.

Sorry but the Broncos are ranked too high and I'm a Broncos fan. The defense simply has way to many question marks (primarily LB). The offense is legit, but that defense will cost them games.

No need to apologize. These are my rankings after week 1 afterall, I'm sure it will look drastically different after next week.

Assani Fisher - Im not going to quote that whole thing because itll take 1/6th of the page, but...1 - CAR @ 18 is glaringly low. They just beat the team you have at 6, on the road, without their best offensive player Steve Smith2 - I think you need to switch Philly with NE, and that makes those look a lot better. NE barely beat 1 of the worst teams of last year, and Philly crushed a team that was expected to approach 500. I think thats more on Philly than STL, but it doesnt look good for STL3 - Switch Cincy and San Fran in their brackets, and they look good. Not sure why you would put BAL over ATL, CLE, or HOU, but OK. I know BAL won, but that was ugly.All in All, pretty good. I question GB in the top 5, but they deserve to be there more than NE

I think you're overreacting to one week too much. For me, I stick more closely to my preseason rankings until teams do it more than once.

They're definitely on the rise. It's impressive how they've made adjustments after the week one mess.

Agreed. While I think that Dallas will finish with a better record, Washington just beat them AT Dallas, and considering that the Redskins only loss so far is on the road to the undefeated defending champs, there is little justification for having Dallas ahead of Washington, right now.

They lead the league in turnover ratio, their offense has committed no turnovers in four weeks.Each of the teams they've played (Dallas, NO, Giants, Cardinals) are ranked in the top 5 in yards gained on offense. Despite that, Washington is 14th in the league in Team D, yards allowed.Clinton Portis and Santana Moss are each on pace for about 1500 yards. Jason Campbell has a QB rating of 102.2, fourth in the league.That's all the fun stuff. Now, each of their wins has been close, 7 or fewer points, and the other team has had a chance to beat them in the fourth quarter, it seems. The Dallas game is actually the one that they were most impressive on - after Dallas tied it in the third quarter at 17 all, the Skins dominated the game offensively and defensively until the final 4 minutes of the game. It's always possible to say that their opponents played poorly at the end of the game. But they've beaten three teams with really good offenses, and have most importantly not beaten themselves.

They beat the Rams 31-14. They beat the snot out of the Seahwaks, and beat the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

Feel free to flip Washington and Tennessee, but those are the obvious top three right now, if you ask me. Not sure who would be 4 and 5, but I am not sure Dallas would be one of them. The Cowboys haven't looked like a top 5 team yet this year.
