Your weekly power rankings. Post 'em. (1 Viewer)

I can't imagine any of tonight's teams putting up performances that would cause me to put them in either category. The Vikes and Packers won't crack the top 5 best teams and I can't see the Broncos and Raiders being bad enough to make the bottom 5.
Okay. I was wrong. Oakland is terrible. There is some talent there, but there is absolutely no heart.Al Davis ripped it out and ate it. Then he threw it up and ate it again.

Carolina is the most perennially over-rated team, ever. Yes, I have divisional bias, but jeebus, they are someone's little darling Super Bowl pick every freakin' year and they have 3 winning seasons in their entire history. I will never understand it.

Yes, I'm fully aware of my own team's long and storied history of sucking. No need to remind me. But every other talking head isn't picking us for the Super Bowl every year only to be scratching their head when they go 7-9. Again.
Because we're talking week 1 and they beat one of the AFC's top teams, on the road, without their best player.Take a Ritalin, dude.
It's been eating at me awhile. Let a brotha vent.

You should be happy. Your team looked like it belonged in the NFL this weekend. They're on their way up when I thought they hadn't bottomed out yet.Have fun watching Matt Ryan. One week against the Lions does not a career make, but I thought he'd be a good one and it looks promising.

I'm ecstatic, and excited about the future. Nothing like a power running game to help your rookie QB. And I'll stop hi-jacking your thread now. :)

I realize Denver played the lowly Raiders, but people seem to forget that the Raiders had a very stout pass defense last year and added Deangelo Hall and Gibril Wilson, so it should be better this year... yes, we all know D Hall is overrated, but he's still a solid CB, and Royal and Cutler simply put on a clinic.

Denver's defense is still a big question mark but I think they looked markedly improved from a year ago, even taking into account their opponent. They seemed to play with high motors most of the game and had a very aggressive game plan, blitzing the LBs on a regular basis.

What I do know is that their offense is going to be very potent - I think Cutler and the boys will have their way with many an opponent this season.

They remind me a bit of the Colts of a few years back - amazing offense, sub-par but opportunistic defense. I think they could surprise a lot of people. This week's game against SD will be the big test of where they are as a team.

Yes, it's too early to consider them for top five, but for Dufresne (sp?) to suggest they might compete for bottom five is way off base.

Well. That wasn't really what I meant. I meant that there was a better chance that they'd compete for the bottom 5 than the top 5.They looked like a team in the 10-15 range last night. They remind me of the Saints - good offense, suspect defense.

Fair enough... so I guess that means your stance on them has shifted?

Sure has. I didn't think they had it in them to be a wild card contender. Given the struggles of teams like Cleveland and Jacksonville, they have a great shot at making noise in the playoffs. From the little I watched, Clady looked good. Royal obviously was good too. I still think the dline is a concern if they're playing someone other than a JV team.

1 Giants - will stay #1 until they lose

2 Steelers - overall solid

3 Cowboys - looked good

4 NOrleans - Bush makes it come together

5 Bears - beat Indy in indy's new house

28 Lions - can Calvin play defense

29 Rams - can anyone play defense

30 Raiders - do they have a defense

31 Brownies - fool me once...

32 Bungals - worst franchise in NFL?

Sorry but the Broncos are ranked too high and I'm a Broncos fan. The defense simply has way to many question marks (primarily LB). The offense is legit, but that defense will cost them games.
No need to apologize. These are my rankings after week 1 afterall, I'm sure it will look drastically different after next week. :)

Assani Fisher - Im not going to quote that whole thing because itll take 1/6th of the page, but...1 - CAR @ 18 is glaringly low. They just beat the team you have at 6, on the road, without their best offensive player Steve Smith2 - I think you need to switch Philly with NE, and that makes those look a lot better. NE barely beat 1 of the worst teams of last year, and Philly crushed a team that was expected to approach 500. I think thats more on Philly than STL, but it doesnt look good for STL3 - Switch Cincy and San Fran in their brackets, and they look good. Not sure why you would put BAL over ATL, CLE, or HOU, but OK. I know BAL won, but that was ugly. All in All, pretty good. I question GB in the top 5, but they deserve to be there more than NE
I think you're overreacting to one week too much. For me, I stick more closely to my preseason rankings until teams do it more than once.

New England barely beat a pedestrian KC team at home and lost their franchise QB to injury. Can those of you with them in your top 5 explain your thought process on this?
We could put Al Davis behind center and beat up on the steelgirls, especially if the game matters and Pitt could choke another playoff game...Friggin Carolina..... Overreaction.

Top 5 NFL teams after week 1

1. Dallas - Only Romo's Favre impersonations in the playoffs can stop them.

5. San Diego - It's now or never.

Bottom 5 NFL teams after week 1

1. Dallas

2. Philadelphia

3. New York

4. Pittsburgh

5. San Diego

NFC East is crazier than I thought it would be. I think Baltimore is pretending, but they're better than I thought they'd be. Denver's defense is going to have to start stopping some people. Buffalo is intriguing. Packers are still right there.

Bottom 5

28. Houston

29. Cleveland

30. Detroit

31. Kansas City

32. St. Louis

Bottom three are obvious but... how disappointing for Browns and Texans fans. The wheels are off the wagon already.

Really, San Diego? I don't think they're as bad as 0-2 obviously, but to have them top 5 right now? And no, I'm not putting Buffalo there, it should be Denver.

Almost agree here. I don't see how anyone but the 5 teams that are 3-0 be in the top 5. Buffalo has had 2 quality opponents while Tenn has really only had one. Without getting into the whole debate over the ending of the Broncos/Chargers game, the Chargers need to win a single game before they deserve even a top 10 spot, much less a top 5 spot, I think.

New York Giants

Dallas Cowboys

It is crazy.....and I believe the Redskins (The weakest link) could win either the NFC South or West if they were in it.

I'm surprised there's still people ranking Dallas above Washington. Washington has been a new team after week 1. When you beat the Cowboys on the road, you deserve to be higher.

They're definitely on the rise. It's impressive how they've made adjustments after the week one mess.

Agreed. While I think that Dallas will finish with a better record, Washington just beat them AT Dallas, and considering that the Redskins only loss so far is on the road to the undefeated defending champs, there is little justification for having Dallas ahead of Washington, right now.

Andy Dufresne said:
I haven't seen the Redskins play this year. Do they genuinely look good or is it that their opponents are playing bad?
They lead the league in turnover ratio, their offense has committed no turnovers in four weeks. Each of the teams they've played (Dallas, NO, Giants, Cardinals) are ranked in the top 5 in yards gained on offense. Despite that, Washington is 14th in the league in Team D, yards allowed.Clinton Portis and Santana Moss are each on pace for about 1500 yards. Jason Campbell has a QB rating of 102.2, fourth in the league. That's all the fun stuff. Now, each of their wins has been close, 7 or fewer points, and the other team has had a chance to beat them in the fourth quarter, it seems. The Dallas game is actually the one that they were most impressive on - after Dallas tied it in the third quarter at 17 all, the Skins dominated the game offensively and defensively until the final 4 minutes of the game. It's always possible to say that their opponents played poorly at the end of the game. But they've beaten three teams with really good offenses, and have most importantly not beaten themselves.

On the same note, have the Bills actually looked like a top 5 team? I haven't seen them play. Titans and the NFC east teams have all been to different degrees impressive.Bills haveTrailed the rams 14-6 at the half.Beat Oakland 24-23

Top 3 right now, easily, is:

1. Giants

2. Redskins

3. Titans

Feel free to flip Washington and Tennessee, but those are the obvious top three right now, if you ask me. Not sure who would be 4 and 5, but I am not sure Dallas would be one of them. The Cowboys haven't looked like a top 5 team yet this year.
