Zac Stacy is the highest drafted 5th round or later NFL pick in dynast (1 Viewer)

This guy is hitting the holes and breaking tackles. He is catching passes. I could totally see the rams going towards an old schotty jets type offense and feed him the ball. their season is pretty much toast so why not see what they got in the rookie? but who knows...

He

(1) isn't hobbling, and

(2) is a starting NFL RB with as much of a lock on the job as anybody not in the first tier

....therefore, right now, he is worth much dinero. Bradford, Clemens, Tony Banks, Chris Chandler...whoever the Rams QB is; facts #1 and #2 above is all that's needed at this point. Just ask any Doug Martin owner. They'd give their left nut to have Stacy right now.

Rotoworld:

FOX Sports reports Zac Stacy is headed for X-rays following the Rams' 14-9 loss to the Seahawks on Monday night.
Stacy appeared to injure his ankle on the final drive, one in which he was gashing the Seahawks on the ground. He was wincing in noticeable pain on the sideline. The ESPN cameras later caught him with a decent amount of athletic tape on his left ankle as he was gingerly walking around. Stacy entered the game on the final play but was motioned out wide left and wasn't really a part of the action. It would be a crushing blow for both Stacy and the Rams if he's dealing with any sort of injury that would cost him even a week of action. Stacy is going to be the centerpiece of the offense moving forward.

he looks powerful and niftier feet than the little i saw of him in college...

I think he led SEC in rushing last year (?), but not sure if lacy missed time?

he can break arm tackles by DL, and in the second and third level, defenders tend to get knocked back when he hits them...

handy traits to have for a RB!

not sure they won't draft a RB next year, with the two firsts...

but it looks like OL and safety are more pressing needs (some would say QB)...

these days you need two RBs... maybe in later round (they might get a good QB or RB with what should be a high second).

RB looks like a lot less pressing need in the past 3-4 weeks. if they prioritize other positions in 2014, I feel a whole lot more comfortable the position could be in good hands than before Stacy burst onto the scene.

Speaking at Tuesday's presser, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said RB Zac Stacy (ankle) was still undergoing tests.
Pressed for a further update, Fished said "we'll have the injury report ready tomorrow." FOX Sports reported Tuesday morning that Stacy had avoided a high-ankle sprain, but Fisher's coyness isn't a terribly promising sign. Coaches rarely withhold good information. Stacy's status will be updated Wednesday.

FOX Sports' Mike Garofolo reports Rams RB Zac Stacy has avoided a high-ankle sprain.

It would appear Stacy escaped with a garden-variety sprain in Monday's loss. Stacy should be considered day to day, and likely to suit up for Sunday's game against the Titans. Now the centerpiece of the Rams offense, Stacy is averaging a robust 4.6 yards per carry, and solidifying himself as a legitimate RB2. His status will be updated on Wednesday.

Worthy of a resurrection IMO, more "bold predictions" in here than the hype train thread. Anyone have a change of heart? Looks legit to me.

Rotoworld:

Zac Stacy (ankle) was "very limited" in Wednesday's practice.
Stacy wasn't even expected to practice at all, so the fact that he even gutted out a limited session is encouraging. Still, on a short week, the rookie's Week 9 status for a home game against a weak Titans run defense is up in the air. We'll learn more as the week rolls on. Daryl Richardson would get the start for the Rams if Stacy can't go. Stacy is dealing with some sort of sprain.

I really hope he sits out the week and let's this thing heal, but apparently that's not in the plans.

Stacy is solid. His competition is nothing but junk, aside for Cunningham. He should get a ton of carries if he's healthy, just don't get to hysterical. This is exactly why I said you're being lazy if you wrote Stacy off just because he was drafted in the 5th round.

The NFL made me look like a dummy, but he was my #2 RB before the draft.
I remember reading that in another post. I am fully prepared to give you major props if this dude lights it up.
Not a definite hit yet, but he's looking good so far.
I was looking for this post in the wrong thread. You are certainly gaining credit as the season goes. Just wish the guy at pick 17 in my rookie draft would have left him for me at 18. Would rather be high-fiving you than just patting you on the back. But good call so far...

Rotoworld:

Zac Stacy (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Titans.
It's worth noting Stacy has played through multiple "Q" tags already this year. Stacy was limited in Friday's practice after returning to a full workout on Thursday, most likely for precautionary reasons. Rams beat writers have noticed Stacy moving around fine in the locker room. Stacy will be a solid RB2 investment versus a Tennessee defense that is vulnerable on the ground.

Rotoworld:

Zac Stacy was forced from St. Louis' Week 12 game against the Bears with a concussion, and will not return.
Stacy went down late in the second quarter, was evaluated at halftime and ruled out after the break. It's a terrible break for his fantasy owners, as Stacy was absolutely shredding the Bears' pathetic run defense, piling up 87 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. He added one catch for 10 yards. Benny Cunningham is now in the game at running back, and occasionally getting spelled by Isaiah Pead. Stacy should be considered week to week until his status is updated.

Rotoworld:

Zac Stacy (concussion) did not practice Wednesday.

Stacy reportedly "did a little" in the walkthrough and did some running on the side. Coach Jeff Fisher said Stacy is "doing well" and is going through concussion protocol. The fact that he was at least running and exercising is a positive sign. Stacy still needs to be cleared and will hopefully get in some practice reps later this week. His status will be updated again no later than Thursday.

seeing MOST FF playoffs dont start until week 14 i have no issues with this...let him rest and come in fresh next week when it matters

Zac Stacy (concussion) was spotted running sprints on the side of practice Wednesday.

We now know Stacy has been cleared for exercise, which is a surefire sign his concussion is not tremendously severe. Per beat writer Nick Wagoner, the rookie "appeared to be in pretty good shape." It doesn't necessarily mean Stacy will get cleared for Sunday's game in San Francisco, but it does suggest that this won't be a multi-week injury. Still, owners needing to set lineups Thursday will be in a pickle. We have no idea yet if Stacy will suit up this week and the Rams probably don't know either.

Arizona gives up the fewest fantasy points to running backs this year. Let's discuss how we feel about Stacy this weekend in round 1 of the fantasy playoffs for many. Check out these rushing stats vs Arizona D below. Didn't realize how stout they've been and only two rushing TDs given up to running backs so far this year.

Very hesitant to start Stacy after seeing this, but would love to see some Shark Pool discussion.

Week 1: Daryl Richardson - 63 rushing, 33 receiving, no TDs

Week 2: Joique Bell - 31 rushing, 41 receiving, no TDs

Week 2: Reggie Bush - 25 rushing, 44 receiving, no TDs

Week 3: Pierre Thomas - 28 rushing, 39 receiving, no TDs

Week 3: Darren Sproles - 17 rushing, 39 receiving, no TDs

Week 4: Doug Martin - 45 rushing, 16 receiving, no TDs

Week 5: Deangelo Williams - 39 rushing, 30 receiving, no TDs

Week 5: Mike Tolbert - 31 rushing, 9 receiving, no TDs

Week 6: Frank Gore - 101 rushing, 0 receiving, no TDs

Week 6: Kendall Hunter - 11 rushing, 1 receiving, no TDs

Week 7: Marshawn Lynch - 91 rushing, 3 receiving, 1 rushing TD

Week 8: Steven Jackson - 6 rushing, 7 receiving, no TDs

Weel 9: Bye

Week 10: Ben Tate - 56 rushing, 8 receiving, no TDs

Week 11: MJD - 23 rushing, 12 receiving, 1 rush TD

Week 12: Daniel Herron - 33 rushing, 0 receiving, no TDs

Week 13: Lesean McCoy - 79 rushing, 36 receiving, no TDs

Week 14: Stacy ???

Stacy has performed well against good defenses so far this year. I can't imagine many backs I'd sit him for.
I'm thinking of keeping Stacy on the bench this week in favor of Vereen. I know Stacy will get his carries, but the historical performance of ARI's run defense is a bit too much to ignore this week.

Same option for me and right now Vereen is in. But looking at that list of RBs Arizona has faced, it's not exactly murderers row. Gore and Lynch got theirs against them. The rest were RBBCs or just not strong plays to begin with. Hmmm, now I'm thinking of moving back to Zac!

Stacy is one of my favorite NFL players, so sentimentality might win out for me, too. Vereen is fine, but I'm not in a PPR league - that dulls his value a bit.

I'm between both backs in this game. Going back and forth between Stacy and Mendenhall almost hourly.

ah, that makes it a much harder decision. I get .5 for a reception for RBs, so there's a little more value. Nightmare scenario is Vereen fumbles early and gets benched! lol. Might be safer to stick with Stacy and hope for the goal line TD and some dump offs.

Exactly. Gore and Lynch got theirs. The others were not solid plays to begin with. I fully expect Stacy to get his. Playing him over Spiller and Fjax in PPR.

I'm letting Stacy ride this week, with apprehension, over Freddy Jackson. Neither with a great matchup, giving Stacy the nod due to anticipated volume of carries vs Jackson.

How are we feeling about Stacy this week? New Orleans has a middle-of-the-pack rushing defense, so there's nothing scary about the matchup. But the Rams' offense has looked very dysfunctional the past couple of weeks (against two good defenses, granted). My biggest concern is the Saints jumping out to a big lead - in a comfortable dome similar to their own - and forcing the Rams to abandon the ground game. Stacy only has 20 receptions on the year, so it's not like falling behind will result in a ton of catches for him.

I'm comparing Stacy to waiver-wire options such as Gerhart and Todman.

Are you guys optimistic about him this week?

I consider the bolded very scary. But can we really bench Stacy because of it? I'm not sure.

I meant nothing scary about Rams running game vs. Saints run defense in a vacuum.

The second bolded part is the bigger concern, yes.

Maybe the o-line injuries to the rams are also contributing to Stacy's lack of recent big numbers? Didn't they lose their center for the year?

that and absolutely horrible matchups at SF and at Ariz.

throw in falling way behind to boot, mean limited carries.

I want to play him vs Saints, but I think they fall behind early again, negating the running game

I agree with this. Not starting him this week.

I'm only starting him out of necessity IF Lacy is a no-go (which seems very possible). Otherwise, I hate this match-up for the reasons expressed above.

I'm deciding between Stacy and Mathews. Pain in the ### is that the concern with both is the same thing. Their team getting blasted and having to abandon the run.

So who has the better shot to keep it close....SD or StL?
