Zach Miller (1 Viewer)

Miller was a trendy sleeper TE heading into the season but has been a bust so far. FBG rankings still have him as a borderline starter in large leagues.

Any Raiders homers have any insight into what's going on with Miller? Is there any reason for optimism or is it time to look elsewhere?

You should not need to be a Raider homer to see the Raiders are simply not putting the ball in the air often enough for anyone involved in their passing game to have much value. When they do pass Miller is hampered by the lack of WR talent on the Raiders which is not creating the space in the middle of the field TE's like Miller require.Any reason for optimism? He plays the Chargers this week and had his best game of his career against them last year and caught a TD in the other game. Going forward the Raiders have said they want to find ways to get him more involved but they are going to need to pass more often if he's going to have value going forward this season.

He's on my bench. I am dropping him and picking up Robert Royal.

Both are bye week filler at best, but I like the way the Bills are spreading the ball.

Probably starting him for the 4th time this week unless I decide to pick up Donald Lee instead. Next week is Miller's bye so I might give him one last shot here.

I have 4 TE's on my roster right now in an IDP dynasty league. :(

They are Dallas Clark, Robert Royal, Dustin Keller & Zack Miller.

I got Clark and Miller in our vet auction and then Keller fell to me in the rookie draft and I couldn't pass him up. When Clark went down, Miller was struggling and Keller hadn't done anything, I had the room so I picked up Royal as insurance.

Now I'm wanting to hang on to Keller for long-term, start Clark this season and keep Royal or Miller as a backup. I offered Miller in a trade today for Kevin Walter to a guy whose TE's are Jeff King and Chris Baker. I think Miller would be an upgrade for him and Walter is his WR5.

And as I'm typing this I just got the notification that the trade went through.

So there you have it. Zack Miller is at least worth Kevin Walter right now.

I'm giving him one last shot this weekend against SD - who apparently is giving up the most yards in the league against opposing TEs. If he can't get involved this week - I'm cutting bait.

Ditto.

I cut him in 2 leagues. Great hands, but he's using them only to block.

Although, I would only dump him if there is a clearly better option on the WW. He's a good player and he will have a good game sooner or later.

He has been relegated to my #3 TE in my main league. Deep 16 teamer.

Millers problem is Jamarcus Russell. He has almost no value in a redraft league.

what about Dynasty?

needing some homers' outlooks because i skipped on the second tier TE crew and grabbed ZMiller later

he is my TE1  (ZMiller/Rosario/DLee/Tamme)

Keeping him stashed Dynasty

dumped him redraft

I started him week 1 1 dynasty thinking he would pick up where he left off and it cost me game! never started him anywhere since. He was a te-2 several of my teams.

Now he is a te-3 1 dynasty team and a fa every where else!

I cut him after seeing how dreadful the Raiders are in Week 1. I also had other needs that trumped having a backup TE. I have not been tempted to pick him up again.

tritto. If he can't put up vs. SD, he shouldn't be rostered. The Bolts are giving up almost 2Xs what other teams are to TEs.
Dustin Keller, Scheffler and Rosario have all scored TDs against SD thus far. I think Miller will continue that trend.

That's assuming the QB throws the ball. Russell threw the ball, what 10 times last game? The only saving grace I see is McFadden (toe) and Fargas (out) should mean they throw the ball more.

That isn't an endosement either, when the Raiders were down to the Broncos by more than 3 scores they still ran the ball in the 4th quarter.

Have him in a contract dynasty. Due to Dallas being on bye and LJ Smith being out, I was forced to activate him from my taxi squad and start him, much to my surprise he delivered. (Gave him a 5 year deal FWIW) As JaMarcus gets more experience, Zack's numbers will see a steady increase IMO and he is a guy worth considering should he be available in redrafts. TE has been hit or miss for much of this year as we all know.

I attribute Sunday more to the Chargers inability to cover anybody from the TE position (see all 4 weeks). I still wouldn't expect much.

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing and was going to drop Zach to the WW despite his big performance... But then I noticed that he plays SD again in the first week of FF playoffs. Jackpot. Dude is sitting on my bench all season now just for that matchup.

The replies from guys above who dropped him are a case in point of why, at least in dynasty, you have to show more patience. If you really think a young player has talent you can't drop them after a few games or even after a season. I kept Meachem last season when he never even started and he is now showing that he will have a good career. Miller is talented and he has a good QB--the problem is that the QB is still growing and the offense right now is very conservative. That will change--perhaps very quickly if we get a new HC and OC as most think. Miller leads his team in receptions--not too many TEs not named Gates, Heap, or Gonzalez have done that. He has done it despite being used primarily as a blocker. I wouldn't trade him for a journeyman WR like Kevin Walter.
