Zwift, Sufferfest, rouvy, bkool, or something else (1 Viewer)

I have a new bike trainer on its way.  Which program would you suggest I try first?

Zwift looks fun but video gamey.

Sufferfest seems to workout like.

Rouvy looks to have some of everything.

bkool sounds kool.

Looked at Peleton but seemed like a 1 trick pony and costly.  Proform Studio Pro had some nice stuff with iFit, but had concerns with breakage.  Bought an Elite Drivo II to use with my bike.  Hopefully one of these softwares will work for both the wife and I.

Bump as I have a similar question.  Wife and I got a trainer as a "family Xmas gift", on cyber Monday.  It's from cycleops - and it's the "wheel on" model (the M2) so that both her 11 speed road bike and my 10 speed can be used interchangeably without too much fuss.

We're looking into zwift, but having to each of a membership at $15 a month each seems a bit much (I don't see any family plans with them).

We have been enjoying Rouvy so far.  Have not paid for it yet.  Had the initial 7 or 14 day trial, then a 30 day trial that I thought was 3 month.  Now our last 14 day trial.  Will probably try Kinomap next.  We enjoy the video routes around the world.

What trainer did you get?

Currently paying for Rouvy.  Really enjoy real routes.

MIL bought me a year of Zwift.  5 days in a row on it.  Got passed by Levi Leipheimer on my 2nd ride.

Still enjoying it?

Anyone else doing the Zwift stuff?
Absolutely,  Just finished a 6 week workout plan before the holidays.  Should be on it 4-5 days a week.  Looking forward to Tour de Zwift coming up.

I have 2 weeks of international travel in February that I will be upset that I won't be able to use it.

Let me know if you're ever up for a group ride.  My local mountain bike group (we let roadies in, too) does 2-3 group rides a week.  Generally we're "rubber banded" together, but when we aren't most of us are in the 2.0 watts per kg average, some more some less.

I finished the TdZ last year, and will hope to again this year.  My personal goal for the year is to complete each and every "route" in all 7 (SEVEN now!) worlds.  That "uber pretzel" in watopia will be an all day thing.

What's a decent entry level trainer to get started on Zwift?  I have a bike and probably prefer to keep the back wheel on.  Also, I want Zwift or whatever app to modify the resistance with the virtual course.  Is Wahoo Snap a good place to start?

I did this 2-3 years ago and went with the Tacx T2180 Vortex Virtual Smart Trainer (was like $350 at the time). It worked great for Zwift, but like most exercise equipment, we stopped using it after a month. I was never a bike rider, so not sure what made me think it would stick. Good news is that it held it's resale value great and I sold it on ebay for $300 a year or so later.

I have a cycleops M2 (now made by Saris).  I think you can get one now with a 14 or even 30 day free trial of Zwift (zwift itself will give you a 7 day trail).  You can find them used now for like $300.
