Dolphins coach Brian Flores still wasn't ready to name a starting quarterback following Thursday's regular season dress rehearsal.

Ryan Fitzpatrick turned in a dismal performance in an all-around dispiriting affair, playing into the second half while completing 12-of-18 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. He was being terrorized by Jags rookie DE Josh Allen. Speaking during the broadcast, FOX's Troy Aikman spoke as if the Dolphins' coaching staff had told him Fitzpatrick would be the guy for Week 1. Even if he is, Fitz could get benched before the month is through.

Dolphins coach Brian Flores named Ryan Fitzpatrick as Miami's starter for Week 3 against Dallas.

Flores declared Fitz the starter but did note the team is "evaluating all positions" after Miami's miserable first two contests. Josh Rosen hasn't been any better in mop-up duty this season given the Dolphins' woeful pass-pro, but giving the 22-year-old reps at least allows for evaluation. Neither can succeed behind the lack of assets Miami's devoted to their trenches this year.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been benched as Dolphins quarterback.

A pawn in the Dolphins' tanking game, Fitz went all the way off the rails in Weeks 1 and 2, running for his life behind an expansion-level offensive line and tossing picks at will. Not all of them were his fault, as his disastrous "skill corps" made myriad mistakes. Considering the league-wide injury landscape at quarterback, there has never been a better year for the Dolphins to trade or release Fitz, but they understandably might want to keep his veteran presence behind shaky sophomore Josh Rosen.

Coach Brian Flores announced Ryan Fitzpatrick will start Week 7 against the Bills.

Josh Rosen has been benched after Flores stated just last week that he'd be the starter the remainder of the season. Rosen, however, was flat-out bad against the lowly Redskins at home in Week 6, going 15-of-25 for 85 scoreless yards and two picks. Fitzpatrick came on and led a pair of touchdown drives and will get the nod against one of his many former teams. He obviously isn't a fantasy option against the Bills' elite defense.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 21-of-34 passes for 190 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Dolphins' 27-14, Week 8 loss to the Steelers Monday night.

The Dolphins hijacked the Steelers early in this one, jumping out to a quick 14-0 lead on the back of FitzMagic, who tossed first-quarter touchdowns to Albert Wilson and Allen Hurns. That was all she wrote, however, as Miami was shut out over the final 46-plus minutes of game action. Fitzpatrick's two picks weren't his fault; the first bounced off TE Nick O'Leary's hands, and the second was an arm punt on third-and-long. Fitzpatrick has at least made this offense watchable in recent weeks. But he's getting beat up behind this offensive line. The winless Dolphins host the Jets next week in what will be a gettable game for Miami.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 24-of-36 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns while adding an additional two yards on five rushing attempts Sunday in Miami’s Week 9 victory over the Jets.

He was dropped for four sacks, resulting in a loss of 22 yards. Fitzpatrick had a field day in this one, devouring his former team (to be fair, that could be said of most teams) with three touchdowns including two to dndrafted rookie Preston Williams, who spent the afternoon completely annihilating overmatched DB Daryl Roberts. Fitzpatrick had a brain cramp when he took a safety on a botched snap late in the first half, but aside from that slip-up, it was mostly smooth sailing for the veteran. Sunday's win, Miami's first of 2019, may throw a wrench in the Dolphins' quest for the top overall pick. Next up for Fitzmagic and company will be a Week 10 matchup in Indianapolis.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 21-of-33 passes for 169 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in the Dolphins’ 16-12, Week 10 win over the Colts.

Fitzpatrick added an 11-yard touchdown on the ground. He briefly left the game in the fourth quarter to go through the concussion protocol, but quickly returned. The Dolphins didn’t move the ball with much consistency, but Fitzmagic pulled enough rabbits out of his hat to keep the game close and ultimately come out on top. He’ll continue to offer a brutal floor, although the Dolphins are slowly but surely beginning to offer some signs of fantasy value between DeVante Parker (10 targets) and potentially Mike Gesicki (6). Fitzpatrick is nothing more than a desperate dart throw in next week’s brutal matchup against the Bills.

Coach Brian Flores said Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the QB for the "foreseeable future."

Fitzpatrick has led the Dolphins to consecutive wins over the Jets and Colts, playing reasonably well along the way. Still, his presence under center means the team won't have much of a chance to evaluate season-year signal caller Josh Rosen. Perhaps a bust game or two from Fitzpatrick will change Flores' mind, but don't expect a change at QB anytime soon.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (shoulder/forearm) was limited for Wednesday's practice.

It's not surprising considering he took seven sacks in Miami's Week 11 loss to the Bills. Although their offensive line has consistently struggled throughout the year, Fitzpatrick's admirably kept the Dolphins afloat due to great play-calling and his sudden rapport with DeVante Parker. Fantasy players should expect the soon-to-be 37-year-old under center this upcoming Sunday against Cleveland.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 27-of-39 passes for 365 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in Miami's Week 13 win over the Eagles.

Fitzpatrick was intercepted on his first pass of the game by Ronald Darby. It was the only blemish on the day for him, as Fitzpatrick rallied Miami to an upset win with five straight touchdown drives. Fitzpatrick connected with DeVante Parker for two of his scores, with his other coming on a red-zone throw to Mike Gesicki. It's an out-of-nowhere blowup for Fitzpatrick, though he had been trending up the last couple weeks. The Dolphins offense has looked much better since turning back to Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick will be on the streaming radar and a low-cost DFS play for a Week 14 matchup with the Jets.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 21-of-37 passes for 245 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in the Dolphins' 22-21, Week 14 loss to the Jets, adding eight carries for 65 additional yards.

Fitzpatrick lost DeVante Parker to a first half concussion, leaving him essentially without weapons. To make matters worse, 2019 bust Albert Wilson departed with a second half head injury of his own. Fitz compensated by playing school-lot ball, running with reckless abandon, at one point lateraling to Clive Walford. Isaiah Ford ended up as his No. 1 receiver. It would not be enough in a game where the Dolphins tallied up an absurd seven field goals but zero touchdowns. Fitz will need Parker to be healthy to be a realistic QB2 for next week's juicy matchup with the Giants.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 31-of-52 passes for 419 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in the Dolphins' Week 16 overtime win over the Bengals.

The Dolphins lost a 35-12 fourth-quarter lead and punted the ball twice in overtime, yet still beat the tanking Bengals on a game-winning field goal attempt. Fitzpatrick was electric while building that initial lead, airing it out to DeVante Parker (5-111-1) and Mike Gesicki (6-82-2) frequently. It was a peak "FitzMagic" performance, one that had NFL Draft implications. The Dolphins' win locked the Bengals into the first overall pick next year. Miami will be picking not too far after that and have a ton of team needs to fill. Fitzpatrick will have one last ride as the Dolphins' starter in Week 17 against the Patriots.

Ryan Fitzpatrick implied he hopes to continue playing in 2020.

The Dolphins' team MVP said he'll "go through the due process" before reaching a decision, though all signs point to him returning for a 16th NFL season. "Physically I feel great," said Fitzpatrick, who is coming off season-highs in both yards (419) and touchdowns (four) in Week 16. "There’s a lot of stuff that goes into it but I still love playing." Fitzpatrick is due a modest $5.5 million in 2020 and could conceivably return as a one-year bridge to whichever quarterback Miami ends up drafting. Josh Rosen does not appear to be the Dolphins' long-term solution.

Dolphins GM Chris Grier said he "fully expects" Ryan Fitzpatrick to be back in 2020.

Fitzpatrick would account for $8 million on Miami's books if he's on their roster in 2020 and it sounds as if the team has no interest in parting ways. The 37-year-old performed better than expected given the circumstances, posting four-year highs in passing yards (3,529), passing touchdowns (20), and rushing yards (243) behind the Fins' atrocious O-line play. With only one year left on his contract, the Dolphins are fully expected to draft a prospect and develop him behind the scenes (and behind Fitzpatrick) for a full season before thrusting him into the fire under center.

Dolphins HC Brian Flores said there would be an open competition at quarterback this summer. 

Asked Wednesday if Ryan Fitzpatrick would be Miami's first-team signal caller, Flores said "there is competition there and everywhere," according to Dolphins beat writer Barry Jackson. With full practices likely delayed into well into August, it might be some time before the Dolphins decide between Fitzpatrick or rookie Tua Tagovailoa as their Week 1 starter.

The Athletic's Josh Tolentino believes "it's clear" Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the Dolphins' Week 1 starter at quarterback. 

Tua Tagovailoa is practicing without restrictions on his recovered hip, but he is apparently being babied along through team drills. Tagovailoa probably lost any realistic shot he had at starting Week 1 when the entire in-person offseason program was lost to the coronavirus pandemic. We fully expect Tagovailoa to make rookie starts, but he will be taking up space on your early-season bench in super FLEX leagues.

Dolphins coach Brian Flores declined to commit to when Ryan Fitzpatrick (personal) would return to practice.

It could be nothing, but it could also result in an extended absence if Friday's transaction wire shows Fitzpatrick on Miami's COVID-19 list. Flores declined to give any reason or timetable for Fitzpatrick's absence, leaving all speculation on the table. The Dolphins notably had free agent Jake Rudock in for a workout but have yet to sign him. As it stands, rookie Tua Tagovailoa and Josh Rosen remain the only two quarterbacks in camp. The 16-year veteran is still expected to start in the season opener if available.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said QB Ryan Fitzpatrick would start Week 1 against the Patriots. 

The team telegraphed this decision last month. Flores said last week that QB Tua Tagovailoa's recovery from offseason hip surgery would play a factor in whether he'd play in the early season, even though the rookie displayed good mobility throughout training camp. Tagovailoa would likely get a shot to start once the Dolphins' season is in the tank and coaches want the rookie to get some game reps. For now, the Beard will once again fling it to wideouts DeVante Parker and Preston Williams, both of whom thrived through portions of the 2019 season. Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins should be forced into plenty of pass-heavy game script, making the wily veteran a cheap source of points in superflex and 2-QB leagues.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 20-of-30 passes for 191 yards and three interceptions in the Dolphins' Week 1 loss to the Patriots.

Fitzpatrick had no chance. Not only was he visiting the Patriots' stellar secondary, but Fitzpatrick also didn't have DeVante Parker (hamstring) in the second half of the game. It's a very tough situation to overcome, even for FitzMagic. If Parker's injury keeps him out of the Week 2 matchup against the Bills, Fitzpatrick will be ranked outside of the top-30 quarterbacks on a lot of analyst rankings. The Dolphins are just buying time for Tua Tagovailoa, who is still recovering from his hip injury.

It needed to be reiterated since Fitzpatrick was abysmal against the Patriots, tossing three interceptions in Miami's loss. It will be interesting to see if Fitzpatrick's leash is shortened versus Buffalo, or if Miami is simply just biding its time because the organization doesn't believe Tua Tagovailoa is ready. Fitzpatrick can't possibly be trusted as a streaming option against the Bills.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 31-of-47 passes for 328 yards and two touchdowns in Miami's 31-28 Week 2 loss to the Bills. 

The Dolphins may have lost, but it certainly wasn't for Fitzpatrick's play against Buffalo's stifling secondary. The 37-year-old veteran delivered several pinpoint throws to his receivers on the afternoon, most notably finding Mike Gesicki (8/130/1) for a back-shoulder touchdown to bring Miami within one score with only 2:09 remaining in the final quarter. He also delivered quality throws to DeVante Parker (5/53/1) and Preston Williams (1/26) against All-Pro corner Tre'Davious White. It was likely just enough to hold off Tua Tagovailo from being forced under center in Week 3, setting up Fitzpatrick for a stream-worthy matchup against the Jaguars.

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 18-of-20 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the Dolphins' 31-13, Week 3 win over the Jaguars, adding seven rushes for 38 yards and a touchdown. 

Making like Josh Allen Sr., Fitzpatrick stunned and eviscerated the Jaguars in the first half, entering the break 12-of-14 for 127 yards and both his scores. He was quieter after halftime, though he did add a one-year rushing touchdown out of an empty set on 3rd-and-goal. His passing scores were a three-yarder to Preston Williams and a 15-yarder where he put Mike Gesicki in position to high point the ball. FitzMagic was almost illegally wily as he led the 'Fins to their first win of 2020. Fitz will be a top 15 or 16 option for Week 4 against a Seahawks pass defense that has given up historic levels of production through the first two games of the season.
