Directv NFL Ticket.... (1 Viewer)

Anyone had any luck with DirecTV and Sunday Ticket this year? The 'Big Deal' approach worked great last year, got a smoking deal. My initial attempts with DTV went nowhere. Curious if anyone had any luck?

Anyone making the yearly call yet? I'm forming my plan and going to call next week I think, drop the old cancel my account and wait for the phone call plan I think.

Does Directv offer you to only order the Redzone channel yet? If not it is back to my yearly call.
No, I called yesterday. I complained said I was going to xfinity for 9.95 redzone, they will give you sunday ticket max for free plus. took 15 minutes

It was a lot easier this year than previously.  ATT seems much more willing to make things work.  They gave me $35 off my bill for 12 months ($420 - cool) and free Max.  So they charged me $250 and credited me $420, and saw that I was paying for a package I didnt need and switched me out, saving me another $9/mo.  Great experience..  Only took one call, 20 minutes.

agree Chuck, my call was 20 minutes and pleasant, I got $60 for 12 months plus $10 off HBO and Showtime for 6 months so Sunday tick max more than free. I did sign for a year but marked my calendar to call back in 1 year :)

If you cancel and come back you get mad stuff

Got free Sunday ticket max

50 bucks off for a year

200 visa gift card

Free genie and 2 minis

Free HBO for 3 months
I cancelled my service and set up the disconnect for Monday.   I'm looking forward to calling them by about Wednesday.

I took the direct approach this year.  Called and got the cancellation department.  Told them I was going to cancel if they didn't give me the same deal as last year, which was free ticket and a $20 monthly discount on my service.  They guy put me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back and said OK.

I did the disconnect thing last year.  That worked too, but this was easier.

I've made the call every year in the past to get the free ticket and discounts with good luck, much in thanks to this and other threads. Problem I'm running into this year (no contract) is ive still got my discounts from last year running until the end of September.  People I talk to at Dtv say nothing comes up as far as discounts with these discounts currently on record. Anyone have advice or experience with this?

I'm screwed too...they can't offer me anything, and I've disconnected sine last Sunday. 17 years with this craptacular company too...

Disconnect...... Last time I'm posting this.   Disconnect and call back

need2know, I was hoping you could elaborate a little more on your process...

...I am a grizzled vet of negotiating as an existing customer and have plenty of posts in the old thread (i.e. bypass salespeople, threaten to disconnect, get through to customer retention, etc.).

...what's new for me is having been disconnected for six months or so.

...in particular who/where in the system you got back in once you were out...since technically you could also have gotten "new customer" deals as well.

...also, were you able to get out from under the contract?

TIA

I have gotten it for the 6th year in a row for free.

The trick is you must be willing to walk away.

I even treat them like trash on the phone with no respect what so ever, I tell them Im taking my $130 auto bill pay elsewhere unless I get what I want.

So do they let my do they let $1500 bux elsewhere or give my a $350 product for free to keep me. Their choice, I say as much and put it bluntly.

I get to the point I straight hang up on them in mid sentence, I have no time for their "they cant offer me anything" lies.

Treat them like what they are, a person you give money to for a service many provide, inform them if they don get ST, no reason to keep them at all.

Disconnect...... Last time I'm posting this.   Disconnect and call back
You dont even call back, they call you begging. I say no ST, no deal. So tell them save anything you have to say unless it involves that.

As soon as they know they have you buy the balls, they wont give you crap.

I called back.  12 years in a row for me

I think this only works if you don't have direcTV available where you live or if you're overseas. I think people get around that by spoofing their IP address but i could be wrong.
Yes, DirecTV insists they can hook me up at my building despite having no southern facing exposure (and wanting no part of an ugly dish).  So the workaround is to stream NFL Gamepass from Europe (not the U.S. or Canada version).  Not hard to do -- get a service like SmartDNS or Overplay that will do a DNS proxy for you for 6 months.  You change the DNS on your computer or streaming device to be one of the addresses in Europe.  Then you appear to be coming from one of the EU countries, and can set up an account at http://www.nflgamepass.com/.  All games are streamed live.

#playthegame, They called 3 times, lol. Got the ticket MAX, $80 off for 12 months, 6 months of HBO and MAX and 6 months of the sports pack. FLY THE W

I called yesterday and set up a cancel date for Wed.  Save group called today and lowered my bill $48.00 and gave me ST Max free for 12 mos. contract.

No hassle, no stress, I'm happy with what I got.

Youre not screwed. Call back and get a different rep. My first call after disconnect they said the same thing...then I called back and got choice for $70, Sunday Ticket Max, free movie channels for 3 months and a $200 gift card.

Actually I think I called a diff number the second time...there are a couple of numbers in the thread in the FFA.

I called and asked what they could do for me - she said since I had been a customer for 2 years and hadn't purchased it yet (got it free the first year) that they would drop the price to $100 total for ST Max. Sold!

Nothing else off my bill or anything but if you guys can't pony up $100 for every game all season then GTFO and get a job.

I got ST Max for free and bill lowered $48.00 per month.  It's about working smarter not harder...

Haters going to hate.  Been getting free ST for about 6 years now.  Just need to know how to work them.  I got free ST and saved an additional $40 per month on my regular programming and got a $200 gift card.  It's about a $1,000 total savings.  But if you are happy throwing away about $800, more power to you.

It doesn't work for everyone because not everyone has the same package. I have the lowest package so I'm not going to get $40 off my $50 monthly bill. Not everyone is in the same boat.  I pay very little for DirecTV already so I'm more than happy to pay $100 for it.

If you're paying $120+/month for some expensive package you're still paying way more than me.

Bottom line is you could have got it for free.  Glad you are more than happy to give up $100 so easily.  I can give you my PayPal address.

I don't have the most expensive package.  I have the one up from yours.  You could have got the same discounts if you know how to play the game.

I like a deal as much as the next guy but at some point it's not worth my time. I make $150k/year.

How do I turn off notifications? Take care mate. :)

Good for you.  You are not the only one making good money.  I enjoy sticking it to DirecTV every year. 12 years running.  I have gotten thousands of dollars off over the years for an hour or so per year on the phone haggling.  They overcharge for everything.  It's kind of satisfying.

You sound lazy and arrogant.  Why brag about it's not worth my time?  It's ridiculous.

I finally got a deal I was looking for....I think.

Been disconnected since 7/25 with a 13-year history with DTV.  Called this morning as a last gasp before sending my equipment back.  Called the number enclosed on the return boxes.  Was told I couldn't get anything.  Called (800) 531-500 and got a lady who offered me the Choice package, NFL Sunday Ticket MAX, $100 gift card and $100 statement credit for $65.38 (plus taxes) for first 12 months then a $5 increase for months 13-24.  Didn't need new equipment, so only a 12-month contract.

Was placed on hold and got connected to someone else who had no idea about the offer I just received.  Ended up talking to 3 people, the last of which took the offer info and was going to escalate it to back office.  Meanwhile, my service was reactivated.  I tried to log into Directv's website to no avail to see what I'm being charged.  Can't log in with old credentials so finally begin chatting with rep who eventually was able to get my login credentials squared away.  As we were wrapping up, I mentioned lowering my bill and got connected, via chat, to an account specialist.

I told him of the offer I received this morning, and he gave me a number (800-824-9081) and PIN to call.  Called and got Bethany who was a very cordial person.  She told me she saw where the offer was notated on my account, exactly as I told her, and she didn't know why it wasn't applied.  She also said back office was the only department who could make that kind of change as the lady quoted me a price that was too low.  She went on to say normally they honor any offers, especially considering it was logged into the system.

She applied my $100 credit and told me to expect to hear something within 10 business days.  We'll see what happens then.

I've never had this kind of trouble getting a deal in the past.  Quite frustrating.

I just called yesterday and set my disconnect for Thursday.  I am expecting a call having been a customer since 2012 and then before that for roughly 5 years (took a break).  I did sign up for Sling yesterday with both blue and orange packages plus the Sports extra which includes RedZone for $50 a month.  I already have an antenna wired to every room in the home picking up locals, have Amazon Prime to stream TNF and Kodi as a backup.  I hope they don't call because I am tired of the annual song and dance.  If they call, I will update with the offer received but I am probably walking from Dtv.

I received three calls today from DTV.  I only answered one and they said the best they could do was 15 off a month for 12 months. The lady said they will call me back on Friday after my cancellation date with a better offer.

I have a job and I get it cheaper than you, so if you are going to come in here and insult us who are able to outsmart DTV with how we treat them like what they are...a person begging for our money, make sure you dont insult people who appear to be better at negotiating.
