Lol, if the airport story isn't true ,  I'm guessing he was informed of an upcoming drug test and decided to hide in rehab. Not giving this many any benefit of the doubt anymore.  Stick a fork in him,  what a sad waste of talent. Idiot

No, i doubt alcohol is the issue. He's going to rehab just to help his case in the future.

The whole thing is ridiculous. You're right--- no one goes to rehab for marijuana. It is safer and not habit-forming like opiates that many NFL players use.

Legalize it.

Full disclosure: I don't even smoke weed (anymore)

Nobody called you a terrible human being.  I was questioning your ability to formulate conclusions, examine details, and identify meaningful parallel situations.

Ya it's bizarre.  Wonder if he picked up a nice little poppy habit while running with Mansziel.  Bc if you go back itt, there are tons of reports from the local media that he is never out drinking and partying and none of them believed he had a substance abuse issue.  So either he had them all fooled or they were downplaying for some reason.

I doubt he plays at all this season. We're not even sure he'll be on the roster when this is over. And even if there's a slim chance he comes back in November, he'll be lacking the very generous advantage of being with the team (that was at Goodell's discretion during the suspension, he didn't have to give him that). Rehab is about interrupting habits and avoiding triggers, so it's not like he's going to spend the next month working out and studying a playbook.

Well we can assume it's not pot because it's not addictive and there's no way someone would risk a multimillion dollar career for a purely recreational herb, right?

I dropped him for Steve Smith within minutes of the announcement.

As others have said, I doubt he plays again this year (if ever). The timing seems a bit strange that he decided to go into rehab one week before he is eligible to be reinstated. I think more will come out of this story, whether it's because he failed a random test right before reinstatement or he had weed and/or booze in his system and decided not to go through with the test.

 
Dropped him for Michael Thomas.

Even if he does comes back later, i don't think he'll be in shape to be relevant at pro level.
He's going to miss to much training. And im also thin at WR with the injuries of Decker and Marvin Jones hamstring.

Pretty sad that you aren't able to have an opposing point of view about something as meaningless as fantasy football without the need to make personal attacks.  You think that that formulating conclusions about somebody that you have never met solely based on his opinion of a football player is a shining display of "examining details, and identifying parrallel solutions"?   Just stop trolling and  keep your opinions to football in this forum.  I have no desire to go back and forth with you and to derail this thread. Good day. 

 
Was offered a 2018 5th round rookie pick in my 10 team dynasty league for him.  It would also free up a roster spot (we have a roster limit of 31, and it's an IDP league).  I just can't quit him for that.....

 
I'm holding him cheap in a salary cap league. Just reached out to a guy who has been a JG fan in the past to see if he wants to buy.

The real question is what to do with him in dynasty. I have him and M. Bryant eating up spots right now. I am leaning toward dropping Gordon but am waiting to hear more details of what this latest episode involves...

My league allows IR for suspended players, so he's going to cost me a roster spot week 5.  Trying to decide if I want to keep him over someone like Ervin or Carroo, or see if I can trade him for somebody that I'd keep over one of those guys.

 
Dropped him.

Sad, but good for him if this is a legit attempt to get himself right.  He is still a young man, a lot of life beyond football he needs to think about.

I mean even if the Browns cut him, he should be picked up by someone right?

In one of the leagues I own him, I am 0-3.  I can't afford to wait another 6 weeks for the guy

 
yeah I understand   IF ya need the spot for bye weeks   Not many options

Come playoffs I would think theres a chance  I dunno  

I know less than most posters in here right now, if not all of em

Apparently the source is part of Scout.com, posted in their subscriber content which I guess is why our only view of it was a captured image.

Before re-sharing this piece of news on Gordon, I want to stress that at this time it has not been confirmed by the Cleveland Browns, TSA or Cleveland Hopkins Airport—so until it has been confirmed, this is purely just a rumor/report from a very well-connected Lane Adkins of The OBR who has been breaking news and reports for many years.

According to Adkins, “We’re being told that the Josh Gordon situation is more than just a player coming to the recognition that he needs help. Instead, what we’ve heard (from sources close to the situation) is that Mr. Gordon and his security detail were nabbed/questioned/detained via the TSA for attempting to carry pot onto an LA-bound flight.”

Adkins continued, “According to sources, Gordon entered Cleveland Hopkins Airport via an underground entrance and was escorted to the upper level to pass through security for his flight. He was accompanied by a member of his security detail. A TSA representative on the upper level recognized Gordon and his security from the below ground level just moments prior…”

As I stated before, currently this is just a rumor/report at this time—but Adkins and the staff at The OBR have been a staple in the Browns media for quite some time and do not have a track record for irresponsible reporting.

You will not find a much bigger advocate for the legalization of marijuana than me.

But if its true that Gordon tried to get through the airport with a pound of weed on him then that is just off the charts stupidity and recklessness.  WTF!

This is what I think, whether the TSA story is true or not. Finding it hard to believe that of a sudden Gordon decided he needed to go to rehab.

 
Potential arrest for possession?

Potential paternity suit for child?

Checked into rehab one week prior to being able to resume an NFL career that included a one year ban?

Question for you drug users out there.  Do you actually take illegal drugs with you on flights? 

I have a hard time fathoming anyone would even try that. But maybe it's a lot easier to get away with than I'm assuming or something.

This situation is no longer about weed itself.  This is just a situation of a guy who cannot get out of his own way, and who seems incapable of making good decisions.  Regardless of his stance on weed, the rules have been very clear for him, and he continues to violate them at every turn.  This guy is just an idiot, plain and simple.  Weed is not physically addictive, he just isn't strong enough mentally to let it go so he can pursue his NFL career.

I know the PC thing is to wish him well, hope he gets his life together, etc etc... but the reality is, he's a self destructive ### who does not have the moderate level of mental strength it would take to recognize that a small sacrifice on his part could allow him to have the world by the balls.  I could not care less what happens to him at this point, he's been supported, given opportunity after opportunity, and second/third/fourth/ninth chances... and he still spits in the face of all those who have stepped up and tried to help him.  Josh, go be you, I'm sure you have a lucrative future in car sales.

 
I have Gordon sitting on quite a few of my dynasty leagues.  In my zealot leagues where we have 53 player rosters I am probably holding him for this season to see what we hear in the next couple of months.  We drop back to 40 players after the season and I will guess he will be on the chopping block at that time.  I have him on another dynasty roster where we carry 48 players.  There isn't much available to go after at this point so he might hang around for a bit but I think it's more likely I chop him at some point in the next few weeks.  We also cut back to 36 after the season and I see no way he survives that cut this time.

I am not a "drug user" but I do know of people- professionals like lawyers, doctors, executives- who travel with small amounts of illegal drugs on them, through both carry on and checked luggage.  Its much more common than you think.

I also have a friend who works for TSA who has told me that people go through security with weed, coke, and other "illegal" drugs on them all the time. TSA themselves actually do not search for drugs.  If they observe what they believe to be illegal drugs in a screening they are instructed to refer the matter to local law enforcement.  My friend stated that in many cases they either let the substance go, throw it away, or sometimes even confiscate it themselves.  But again, these are small amounts.

Trying to get a pound of anything through TSA is ridiculously stupid.
