Haven't played since FIFA 64 but was thinking about getting it. How is this series set up? Is it all the different leagues? National teams?

Played the demo and will wait for a bit. FIFA 14 is providing plenty of enjoyment still and I didn't see enough of a leap forward to pounce.

My Manager Mode gems from FIFA14 that I will be looking to rebuy:
Junior Malanda CDM. Turned into a complete beast. 90s in strengths and all tackles. Complete Defender Trait awarded to him as well.
Izet Hajrovic RM Left footed FK specialist. Also has the Outside Foot Shot Trait. That with a left footer is an amazing combo. I played him on the left so he can cross and outside foot trait makes his shots killer coming from the left. I usually put right footers on the left and vice versa so they can slice in and shoot on their strong foot. You lose crosses though, so outside foot left footer really kicks ###.
Leandro Paredes CAM Bought this guy when Correa wasn't growing. FK Specialist, Speed, Passing, and best Long Shot ever after a few years. Would just crush the ball from outside the box with amazing accuracy.
I'll post some more later. Time to get to the game!

It's hard to see. Short answer is concentrate on not holding down the shot button so long. You can also tweak how fast that power meter fills up in settings. On default, even half a second or so pretty much maxes it, and you'll sky the shot.

Liking 15 better than 14 so far. Glad crosses and headers have been fixed. Defense is definitely harder. Seems like the advantage goes to the offense more often.
I'm having more luck with finesse shot than power shot. Didn't know you could adjust the rate. I'll try that out, too.

Been playing like crazy since Saturday. I love FUT. D is harder this year. Love that you can actually pass and dribble tho. I have actually had several own goals (for and against) and FKs this year. As well as the new stamina adds a nice layer of detail.
Last year I got tired of FUT and played manager mode. Won the Treble with Plymouth Argyle.

EA makes a decent game, but I really don't understand them. I was out of town most of the weekend but yesterday afternoon decided to play some FUT.
The servers were down. On the first weekend after the worldwide release. At least the transfer market was working, but online play was not available at all.

We got 15 when it came out. I only played a few times, but I liked the controls. I really like being Man City and scoring with Lampard. Really got it for my son. He was so excited. He trades the cards, and does all that ultimate team stuff, or whatever it's called.

Got drunk and downloaded this last night. I have no idea what I"m doing but scoring like 10 goals per game on beginner. I"ll move up eventually but how do I get good at the little things? The challenges before the matches help a bit but I don't know how to use them.

Yeah. I've spent $20 so far and I haven't got anything great. I'm trying to not go crazy buying more, but when I'm done opening the rest of my packs I'm sure I'll give EA more money.
I'm having fun with the team I have now. A mostly Arsenal squad with Henry as one of my strikers. Haven't gone online with the team yet, just collecting points with offline seasons and tourneys.
It's really addicting, and they have a web and phone app where you can tinker with your team remotely.

The trick to Ultimate team is making money by trading. Packs result in very few coins. Its like a stock market, buy low and sell high.
Look around the web for tips on trading, I'm not great at it but can still make some coins. reddit has a big section on EA, also the EA forums have information. I'd give you all my tips but I don't really have any. Oh, most players are in Europe so you can sometimes find deals late at night US time.

This is pretty spot on. There used to be a database, ultimatedb.nl, that allowed you to see auction prices. The database hasn't opened this season and doesn't look like it's going to. I think they're having problems having the real time prices load from the next gen systems. Now, go to www.futhhead.com. First, it's has a nice squad builder. You can mix and match squads, see the full list of stats on every player, and even see user comments. The good thing about it though, is that it list the lowest current BIN price. Try to buy in an auction lower than that price, and 10-15% higher. There is a 5% tax on all auctions though, so watch out for this. It's a little slow at first, but it really doesn't take long to build up a lot of coins. I've put $20 into the game since I bought it, and I'm up to about 450,000 coins. I work nights, so I use the webapp to buy while at work, and I sell during the day.
A lot of people but cards at less than their discard value, and the. Discard to get the coins. To do this go to the 59th minute and bid 50k less than the discard price. Once you win cards just discard them. This is minimal profit though, so I recommend flipping cards more.

Start with any of Emenike, Doumbia and/or Jackson Martinez at ST and build from there. I've had more fun being forced to try random guys over typical BPL squads. You'll finally know some players on FC Shakhtar when you see their random Champions League game.

Does anyone else play the phone/tablet app? It is free to download, and you play FUT exclusively. The online season mode is what bothers me about it. Sometimes you play against someone with terrible connection which makes it almost unplayable. Worse than that, several times the connection has been lost and I was automatically given a 0-3 result. Even with the online flaws I can't stop playing. Probably one of the best games I have played on a smart phone.

Has anyone been able to get the likes of Messi, Neymar or any other legends in the FIFA packs (xbox one). Any ideas on how to get them besides spending $$$ to buy gold packs? Been trying this avenue but have been unsuccessful. I know you can buy them on ebay but wanted to see if there was some other way.

I've never spent any money and don't buy packs. I like the extra challenge of going that route. Usually make at least 50k per day.

Don't think there is enough of a market to totally tell the specifics of it. My hint would be that player trading is very very tough. Avoid that unless you can control an IF market. That takes mucho coins.
I buy on bids and resell through bin using the web app or phone app. I usually repost at the lowest bin.
I trade a wide range of prices. Under 1000 I try to make 400 per transaction. 1000-3000/600 per transaction. Above 3000, 800+per.
People think non-player cards aren't worth much, so sometimes you get things on 200 bin worth much more.

Regarding the last few posts - is this something I have to understand and participate in to play this game with my 9 year old son? He's getting an xbox and fifa 15 next month. We've been playing Fifa 11 on the Wii for 3 years.

Not at all. Ultimate Team is just one game mode. I only dabbled in Ultimate Team in Fifa 13 and 14. You can just pick up and play a game against your son (Chelsea against whoever, I suppose) without doing any Ultimate Team. Or if you're doing something solo, you can do Be A Pro or Manager Mode, which is what I normally did.

I need the top 3 or 4 tips to be able to beat my son on FIFA 15. There's no way I'm going to memorize multiple button/stick combos and execute them on the fly. Hoping you gamer geeks can give me what I need to humiliate my boy on this thing old guy style. He plays Barca and it seems Messi can run past everyone at will.

Choose a team like Real Madrid amd just try to contain Messi. RM has Ronaldo and several strong attacking players plus a stout GK and def. That should help.
Also, try to keep possession as much as possible. Use 'Park the Bus' D of you get beat on long runs by Messi. That will keep your defenders back. Do that by pressing left on the D pad during play.

I wouldn't park the bus unless you really stink at defense. Going to defensive should be good enough to give an edge. Formation can help a lot to contain players. Try a 4231. Use the two cdm's to play d. You should be able to triangle around Messi with the active cdm and a combo of the other cdm and/or the cb's. Don't go in for the ball. Contain till he has nowhere to go.

Have you tried playing with the tactics? I mean, it's Chelsea vs. Barca, so you should be parking the bus and countering anyways
Seriously though, get your holding midfielder to man mark him and make sure you're center backs are staying back.
I suck at defense in Fifa so almost always play in "defensive".

I haven't figured out how to set up my team defensively yet, and seem to be regressing. I beat him 5-2 using Real, then lost 6-0 playing as Bayern. I had Bayen set to counter attack and didn't get a single shot on goal. I think it may be best to just drop back on D and not try to challenge Messi, because he always just runs past defenders, almost like they part the Red Sea for him to run at the goal undeterred. Using X helps sometimes. My son is purely a button masher, never subs or sets up his team at all, so my goal is to learn enough simple things to be able to regularly beat his Barca team using Real Minero, Sporting KC or Feyenoord or some other random team.

Change the difficulty settings. It affects VS. mode too. You don't need to bump to all the way up. Just put it on professional. I bet he stops sprinting between defenders.
Do you have auto switching on? I hate auto switching. I set mine to auto switch on air balls only.
Play the defense skill games to get the hang of using the bumpers and triggers in defending.
And don't ever play with Real Madrid again. Ever.

Same here. This time I did something a little unconventional. I wanted to try out Germany this year, so I picked the team in their 2nd division with the biggest budget, RB Leipzig. Then I edited their roster with players I wanted to use before I loaded my manager mode. I kept it to 2nd division kind of guys. Mostly US Nationals. Gatt, Mix, Bedoya, Brooks, Yedlin, Garza, Trapp, Hyndman, Swanson, Arriola, Gyau, Green, Zardes... I also kept the RB guys who had good potentials. Yes Poulsen is turning into a beast, btw.
Nice. I had read the EPL content was beefed up so stuck there (still need to make it so I can see). I really enjoy the buying and selling though.
