GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (1 Viewer)

Drove to Kansas tonight to take Joyce to see her mom. 13 hours half of it in the rain and the highway was thick with semis. I fixed a Tito's dirty martini, turned on the TV and Goodfellas was on. It's turning into a good day. And Saturday

What part of Kansas were you in? Or still in?

So an “easy fix” of a relay on my air handler has resulted in yet another day of no AC. 87 degrees in the house right now and no sooner to a conclusion than when the tech first arrived this morning. This truly sucks.

Can you get a window AC unit for the bedroom?  At least you can sleep at night that way and even though it's an expense I'm sure you didn't want, you can keep it somewhere for another just in case situation or you can sell it for something close to the price since it would be in new condition.  I'm sure it's cheaper than staying in a hotel until this is fixed.  Maybe I'm more sensitive to heat than others, but I couldn't stand it if it were 80+ degrees in the house.  I work from home and I wouldn't get much work done and I would be really tired all day because I wouldn't be able to sleep at all in that heat.

I can, but it’s not worth it. I am pretty close to calling another company and seeing what they can do for me. For those playing at home, here are the events that have transpired so far:

1. Tech 1 comes over, unclogs the drain pipe with serious blockage, proceeds to play with some wiring in my air handler, and then tells me the motor is  dead even though it worked fine up until he touched it.

2. Tech 2 shows up 3 days later, replaces “broken” motor, tells me the motor was never broken, but the relay is.  He wires the thermostat directly to the air handler and we have AC for multiple days until a new relay can be shipped.

3. Tech 3 shows up with relay, replaces relay, the air handler doesn’t start back up, he swears up and down that the thermostat must be broken, I buy a new one and he installs it with no success, puts the old one back in, and is still trying to figure out the issue.

I’m waiting to be told my whole system is shot bc they can’t find anything else wrong. It’s 6 years old and has plenty of life to it. Have a few other companies on speed dial and considering the nuclear option. This is truly the definition of insanity.

Have you checked to see if the pressure switch got tripped when the drain pipe got blocked?

No. Turned out after all that the new relay was actually bad. Yes, it’s something I suggested to the tech hours ago since it was the only thing different in the equation.

AC is back on after once again bypassing a bad relay. Looking forward to San Diego and Portland next week. Still planning on beers with the Portland crew.

Looking forward to your report, for real.

Slip up and watch ONE video of two brain dead hotties dancing to that infernal Fancy song, and the social media algorithm thinks ALL YOU WANT TO SEE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE is other people dancing to the gottdam song.

Get caught watching it in your incognito tab and your wife will think it's all you want to see for the rest of your life so that's not so great either

Dark mode has turned off a couple of times lately. It's an annoyance, but I haven't had any trouble turning it back on.
Well la-di-FREAKIN'=da!   Will not save my preferences here. 😐

If I were a paying customer, I'd probably be a lot more cheesed off that my free internet board where I make fun of people making fun of people with Parkinson's is literally stealing my vision when I look in its general direction.  I'm not though....but  I'll probably just continue to ##### anyway.

Hope it gets better GB.
thanks.

today isn't much better.

anyway, some scumbag contractor builds half-assed stuff for a crooked developer, so I'm suing them.   while that's happening the same team of crooks is building a development nearby, and turns an irrigation pond into a "lake" complete with a big waterfall.   Only it's not a lake, and the waterfall is fed by a siphon pump, through an open pipe that's about 2' wide.   yesterday a 10 year old girl was playing in the "lake", got sucked into the pipe and drowned.

I spent my day dealing with that.   And today.  And tomorrow.  And probably the next year.  I need to retire.  I can't do this stuff anymore.   The only good thing is I'll put them out of business and they'll never have the opportunity to do this again.

Awful. I'm sorry, GB.

That’s horrific. I’m so sorry you have to see the worst of humanity so often. I can only say that the victims are lucky to have someone like you fight for them in their desperate times of need.

In Colorado Springs with my wife celebrating our 20th anniversary. Nice area. Manitou Springs is a fun little town. Very eclectic. Wish we could have done more hiking than what we’ve done, but my wife managed to fall and sprain her ankle/break her wrist a week before we came out. Throughout our marriage she’s done her best to push the limits of the whole “in sickness and health” thing.

Decided to take a whiz in the back yard last night, because I can.  The dogs were also out back, around the corner (I went out the side door of the garage), and when they heard me come out, started running over barking and growling. Pretty sure they thought I was an intruder, and it took me a few seconds to convince them of who I was. (good to know that they're defending the property)

Anyway, once they calmed down and I convinced the bigger one that he didn't need to stand right in front of me, I returned to the task.  As I was walking back into the garage, I look back and he's sniffing around and PEEING RIGHT ON TOP OF MINE. Re-claiming the territory I guess. :lmao:

He essentially "alpha'd" you with that little move.   Did he sleep with your wife after?

(If the answer is anything other other than  "no", you may as well go get fitted for your nueticles now.)

Yeah, we have 2 and it's funny to watch them in the yard,. If one sees the other one pee somewhere, he has to go squeeze a few drops out on top of it, even if he already went. I guess I need to hold a little bit back next time.

And no dogs on the bed overnight.  They can hang around if we're sitting up reading/watching TV, etc, but when the lights go out, they have their own beds on the floor.

Local lady makes lumpia and pancit and sells it through her facebook page.   After seeing the reviews, I bought a bunch of lumpia and a half order of pork pancit (she says a full order feeds 8).  I have now eaten pancit for lunch and dinner every day since Saturday.   I have about 30 vacuum packed lumpia left in my freezer.

Best food I've ever bought out of the back of a car in a Target parking lot.
