Faust 5,307
Quote "Take a look at the last two scoreboards," said LSU redshirt senior QB Joe Burrow upon being asked to revisit his prediction from this summer that the Tigers offense could regularly score 40, 50, or 60 points, writes Sports Illustrated's Ross Dellenger. Player and program transformations to the magnitude of what's gone on with Burrow and the LSU offense are rare. Last season, the Tigers were a ball-control offense that just hoped Burrow could avoid mistakes and let the defense win the game. Now? LSU wants to scare opposing defenses with a high-octane, explosive spread passing offense that gets the ball to their high-end wide receivers as often as possible. Burrow, perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the change, seems ecstatic with the offense's change of direction and the early success they've experienced. Faust 5,307
Quote Oklahoma redshirt senior QB Jalen Hurts' 252.31 passer rating now leads the country through two weeks, per CFB Stats. Two games versus Houston and South Dakota aren't a true barometer, per se, but Hurts has found comfort in HC Lincoln Riley's offense. Though Hurts was always better at Alabama than given credit for, it's incredible to see him so far ahead of the pack in terms of efficiency right now. The next-best passer rating is LSU's Joe Burrow at 219.11, more than 30 points behind Hurts. The top mark in 2018 was 238.32 by Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa, so Hurts' number should come down, but he is off to a remarkable start. Faust 5,307
Quote Washington junior RB Salvon Ahmed carried 21 times for 119 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 20-19 home loss against Cal. Ahmed (5'11/195) entered this season with a ton of hype. He showed some glimpses of brilliance in this one, averaging 5.7 yards per carry and he was able to visit the end zone for the second time in as many games. Ahmed has big shoes to fill following in the footsteps of Myles Gaskin, but he could be the next great Huskies runner. Washington will look to rebound next Saturday against Hawaii. Faust 5,307
Quote Dane Brugler of The Athletic notes that some believe that Iowa State senior TE Chase Allen is the most talented player on the Cyclones. That's saying something, as Iowa State is a talented football team, and linebacker Marcel Spears is generally considered likely to be a draft pick next year. Injuries have plagued Allen throughout his career with the Cyclones as Brugler notes; he was hit by a car as a freshman and he was sidelined with a groin injury as a junior. He also hasn't been very productive, as he has yet to procure four catches or 25 yards in a game. "But the talent is still there, Brugler writes. "Is this the game that Allen is able to shake the "always injured" label and live up to his potential? Cyclones’ fans are hoping so." You could probably add Carolina and Jacksonville to the list as potential teams.

I think it depends on where they end up picking. If they have a mid/late pick then sure, see what Lock has. But if they have a top pick and a shot at a top prospect then you can safely ignore a 2nd round pick from last year at this position.

Faust 5,307
Quote Alabama junior RB Najee Harris rushed for 36 yards on seven carries while catching five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 47-23 win over South Carolina. Harris (6'2/230) was fine with limited carries on the ground, but it was his receiving work which truly stood out in this contest. He scored on a 24-yard catch in the first quarter, then came back around to split the atom from 42 yards out in the second quarter. That latter touchdown grab was the one which shook social media, as Harris caught a bullet from Tua Tagovailoa while angling toward the left sideline, shrugged off a would-be tackler like he was a feather, then jumped over another defender while maintaining his balance on his way to the end zone. While Harris has yet to blossom into a true bellcow -- or at least Alabama does not use him as such -- he flashes an awesome pure physicality in spots, as the Gamecocks can attest to. Faust 5,307
Quote Alabama junior QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 28-of-36 passes for 444 yards and five touchdowns in Saturday's 47-23 win over South Carolina. The Crimson Tide were unable to pull away for much of Saturday's contest, but when all was said and done, Tagovailoa came out of the contest with a career-high in passing yardage. He also tied his career-high in touchdown passes with those five scoring tosses (two in the first quarter, one in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth). The Heisman contender now owns a just-plain-sick 12/0 TD/INT ratio through just three contests. Southern Miss shows next on the Crimson Tide's schedule. Faust 5,307
Quote Arizona State junior RB Eno Benjamin carried the ball 11 times for 38 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in a 10-7 victory over Michigan State on Saturday. This was an awful offensive football game, but, the Sun Devils probably don't care too much. Or at all. Benjamin found almost no running room against the stingy Spartans, but Benjamin (5'10/210) was able to score a one-yard touchdown with just under a minute left in the game that gave ASU the 10-7 lead and ultimately the victory. Expect more rushing room for the talented tailback next Saturday against Colorado. Sep 14, 2019, 7:44 PM ET
Faust 5,307
Quote Oklahoma State junior WR Tylan Wallace caught five passes for 118 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 40-21 win over Tulsa. Wallace's day was boom-or-bust, but the one "boom" was devastating for Tulsa. With Oklahoma State backed up on their own 10-yard line, Wallace (6'0/185) got open down the right sideline, made a leaping catch while brushing off a defender, and skated into the end zone after the catch for a 90-yard score. That kind of heroic effort is a microcosm of why Wallace is a top prospect for the 2020 NFL Draft. Sep 14, 2019, 7:29 PM ET
Faust 5,307
Quote Florida State junior RB Cam Akers ran 18 times for 78 yards while catching three passes for nine yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-24 loss to Virginia. Akers (5'11/212) didn't quite shine like he did against UL-Monroe, but he still pumped out a decent performance. Despite the discrepancy in opportunity, Akers' lone touchdown on the day came off a short reception over the middle of the end zone -- a score that put the Seminoles ahead for a brief moment. Alas, Akers' day was not enough to carry a struggling Florida State team to victory, leaving the team with a 1-2 record. Sep 14, 2019, 11:44 PM ET
Faust 5,307
Quote Clemson junior WR Tee Higgins caught seven passes for 158 yards in a 41-6 blowout win over Syracuse on Saturday. The story of this game was Amari Rodgers because of his two scores and the fact he's doing it just six months recovered from an ACL injury. That being said, it was Higgins that led the Tigers in both receptions and yards, and he was a monster once again in this high-powered Clemson offense. Higgins should remain Trevor Lawrence's top target for the remainder of the year -- with all due respect to Rodgers and Justyn Ross, who would be the best option on most teams (okay everyone but Alabama) -- and for good reason. He'll have another big game until Clemson retreated in what should be a laugher next Saturday vs. Charlotte. Sep 14, 2019, 11:23 PM ET Quote Clemson junior WR Amari Rodgers hauled in four passes for 121 yards with two touchdowns in a 41-6 crushing of Syracuse on Saturday. This was awesome to see. If you didn't know, Rodgers (5'10/210 is a little under six months removed from a torn ACL, and you would never, ever know it if you saw him running on Saturday. His first score came after a beautiful Trevor Lawrence pump fake from 16 yards in the first quarter, and then in the third, he took a short Lawrence pass, broke several tackles and scampered 87 yards to give the Tigers a 24-6 lead. This team is absolutely loaded at wideout, but Rodgers is incredibly talented, and Clemson is going to try and get him the football. He should have more scoring chances next Saturday against Charlotte. Sep 14, 2019, 11:22 PM ET
Faust 5,307
Quote Minnesota senior WR Tyler Johnson caught 10 passes for 140 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 35-32 victory over Georgia Southern. Johnson (6'2/200) won the game for the Gophers with an amazing leaping grab over the Georgia Southern defender with :46 left to put Minnesota up 35-32. Johnson had started the 2019 season a little slow with only seven catches for 99 yards and one touchdown up until today. He broke out in a big way and will look to keep the positive trend rolling when Minnesota faces Purdue after their bye this week. Sep 14, 2019, 11:04 PM ET
Faust 5,307
Quote Oklahoma senior QB Jalen Hurts completed 15-of-20 passes for 289 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday's 48-14 road rout of UCLA. Hurts (6'2/219) also led the team with 14 rushes for 150 yards and a touchdown. He rushed for 99 yards on the team's opening drive, the most rush yards by any player on an opening drive of a game over the past 15 seasons. He posted 206 passing yards and 141 rushing yards in the first half, while UCLA manager just 116 total yards. It was a truly dominating performance. Hurts will look to keep it rolling into Big 12 play next Saturday against Texas Tech. SOURCE: ESPN Stats & Info Sep 15, 2019, 2:56 AM ET Quote The Oklahoma Sooners offense, piloted by senior QB Jalen Hurts, is averaging 1.7 yards per play more than any other team in the country, per Matt Brown of The Athletic. That is yards per play, not per pass. Oklahoma's offense isn't just cutting up teams through their air with their new transfer QB, they are bludgeoning teams on the ground. Oklahoma are third in yards per pass, trailing only Navy and Army (neither of whom have more than 17 passes). On the ground, Oklahoma's 8.32 yards per carry is just a hair short of Baylor's top spot at 8.37 yards per attempt. No other school is top-10 in both categories, much less top-three like Oklahoma is. Georgia is closest at t-11th in yards per passing attempt and fifth in yards per rushing attempt. Faust 5,307
Quote According to Gavin Oliver of The Clemson Insider, Clemson sophomore QB Trevor Lawrence said of recently-returned junior WR Amari Rodgers that the team "missed him" and that it's "great having him back." Clemson's WR group is loaded, but it never hurts to get another guy back in the mix. Rodgers (5'10/210) made his official return from a knee injury last week against Texas A&M. However, he had just two catches for six yards in that game and was hardly himself. Against Syracuse, though, Rodgers looked back in form: four catches, 121 yards, two touchdowns. Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins are still and will be the stars of the group, but Rodgers is a fantastic player in his own right and allows Clemson to flood the field with too many future NFL players for most college defenses to handle. BigTex 859
Dobbins is making a case for top back in college football. I watched two his Ohio St. games so far this year and I don’t remember seeing a back make defenders bounce off like Dobbins. The kid runs hard as anyone eligible for 2020. Hubbard is another making a case for top dog. 2020 is going to be MEGA LOADED! I’m still maneuvering for more 2020 picks as you can never have too many picks at this point. Faust 5,307
Quote Ohio State junior RB J.K. Dobbins ran for 193 yards and a score and caught two passes for 23 yards with a touchdown in a 51-10 demolishing of Indiana on Saturday. A great game for Dobbins, and it could have been an even bigger effort if this game was remotely close. It was not. Dobbins showed off an impressive stiff arm again, and he scored from 26-yards out to give the Buckeyes a 30-3 lead late in the third quarter. He added another score on a four-yard pass from Justin Fields, and that was the end of both of their days. Dobbins should have another big game -- until the game becomes a blowout -- against Miami of Ohio next Saturday. Sep 14, 2019, 3:24 PM ET Quote Ohio State junior RB J.K. Dobbins carried the ball 17 times for 141 yards and two scores in a 42-0 rout of Cincinnati on Saturday. Dobbins had a monster game, and it's even more impressive when you consider that he didn't have many touches after the first half. Both scores came in the second quarter; a four-yard plunge that was followed by an impressive 60-yard scamper that gave the Buckeyes a 21-0 lead. Dobbins (5'10/217) is going to have a tremendous year as long as he stays healthy, and he should have another big game next weekend against the Hoosiers of Indiana. Sep 7, 2019, 3:13 PM ET Quote Ohio State junior RB J.K. Dobbins rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in Saturday's 45-21 win over FAU. Dobbins (5'10/217) might have come away with 91 yards rushing, but make no mistake, this was a somewhat dull performance out of the junior. He managed just 4.3 YPC with a long run of 17 yards on the afternoon. OSU will tango with Cincinnati next weekend as Dobbins tries to find himself. Saturday's showing did nothing to move his draft needle. Aug 31, 2019, 4:06 PM ET
