Bring it home!I was at the seven homerun game into 2005 . I'm hoping a break that record tonight!
It's just amazing man.So, after my very rough few days, get home and am exhausted obviously.
So Im watching the game as we are getting de-stroyed, and I give the remote to my wife, whose been awesome through all this. Tell her I need to rest anyway.
WTF HAPPENED?
I'll take it after getting to watch the last three, every single inning
Ive watched more games this year than in forever, and it had all been about the pitching. Id jump on the LIRR when a big 3 was on.It's just amazing man.So, after my very rough few days, get home and am exhausted obviously.

6 weeks ago if they were down 2-0 to anyone I really felt there was a 5-10% chance of winning the game.
Now I feel 4-6 runs is possible any game.
Be ready for insults. Phillies fans will say bad things to you if you have Mets gear on. They will do this even if you mind your own business.I'm picking up some tix for tonights game in Phily and taking the 2 kids.
Any suggestions/advice for the game?
1st time there.

We used to call that the '80s.The Metropolitans are more fun then the Yanks these days.
Yankees fans for Mets?
Heck yeah. The '86 parade was one of the best days on the planet. Mookie, Doc, Daryl, Keith, Gary, of course. I'm sayin it's time once again. And the bandwagon has plenty of room, it's the reverse Craig Carton. We used to call that the '80s.The Metropolitans are more fun then the Yanks these days.

It was great hearing the broadcast absolutely rip him / the Mets for that.Robles quick pitching is sketchy but it is nice to see the Mets own this series right now. They need to close this out.
Totally. The fact that he has what, three different breaking balls, all good to great? Oof.Familia was nasty tonight.
A month ago they had John Mayberry Jr. batting cleanup with Eric Campbell batting 5th.THIS is why I so wanted Cespedes... because to have him anchoring your lineup, everyone gets better, you can play guys in their correct role and to their strengths...
I mean a month ago, I figured we'd put up a good fight, maybe battle even and be in the race at the end of the season. Was great to see good baseball and awesome young pitching.
Now? Not sure this team can't play with ANY other in the league. Seriously, WTF did that come from? Not that I complain! But we have a really really good lineup, it's like a totally new team - and to a degree is with Cespedes, Uribe, Johnson, Clippard, Wright, D'arnaud - not to say a rejuvanated Flores, Lagares and Cuddyer.
But Having those last three as your core, the early season editions, is sad. Now the core is not only really solid or better, but they each play a perfect role, too.
They are 0-7 vs the Cubs this season as well but that was before the bats came to lifeLiving in a Philly market, I don't get to see many Mets games, but this series has been a real treat. I only wish I could have hit up Citizens Bank Park at some point, but work got in the way of that.
At this point, I really can't think of a team that they would have zero chance against in the playoffs. I know they had their problems against PIT, but I also think they can beat them in a 7 game series.
Matthew Cerrone @matthewcerrone 9m9 minutes agoDon't really have anything to add, but this is so much fun! Also, anyone want to pool some money to find a rocket we can use to launch Eric O'Flaherty into space?

What are lefties hitting against Eric O'Flaherty since he joined the Mets?

@matthewcerrone Generally doubles and singles.
Sad but true.
I am not worried about that. In 1988, the Mets went 10-1 vs Los Angeles and then lost to them in the playoffs.Living in a Philly market, I don't get to see many Mets games, but this series has been a real treat. I think we can get by for the regular season. What are the chances we pull off a deal for another bullpen arm? Even a limited specialist type guy could really be key in those high leverage situations. Those one or two really tough outs that get you to Clippard or Familia. Or lets Familia do a 4 out save, but not 5 or 6.
Maybe then get a guy post Sept 1 just to grab a few innings down the stretch and we won't need them on the post season roster (since they can't be anyway). Something like that has to be pretty cheap, trade wise, no? On a good but slightly overpaid reliever who's a FA after the year.I think we can get by for the regular season. What are the chances we pull off a deal for another bullpen arm? When (if) post season rolls around you figure Matz and another SP will hit the bullpen.

Anyone fitting that description, that will be better than what we could bring up from AAA, is unlikely to get to us in waivers without getting claimed by a team ahead of us.Maybe then get a guy post Sept 1 just to grab a few innings down the stretch and we won't need them on the post season roster (since they can't be anyway). He's off the 40-man roster, which is currently full. If the Mets need someone to eat innings, they can make a roster move to clear a spot and bring Gee back up, although I wouldn't count on it. Gee's been pretty bad in Vegas, but everyone is bad there who isn't named Matz or Syndergaard. What's the deal with Gee?Maybe then get a guy post Sept 1 just to grab a few innings down the stretch and we won't need them on the post season roster (since they can't be anyway). Yeah, and there's no need for him. As we've already seen, Verrett can do a more than adequate job of starting if the need arises, and Matz will be back next week.Gee seems like an enormous #####. All else equal, I'd rather keep him out of the clubhouse.
