Marlon Mack, RB, DEN (1 Viewer)

Where are we at with this guy in dynasty? I know the 2020 draft is loaded at RB but at the same time Ballard doesn't strike me as the type of GM to spend high draft capital on a RB. Is the 3rd-4th round depth gonna be so good as to still threaten Mack? Maybe.

Rotoworld:

Marlon Mack suffered a hand injury in Week 11 against Jacksonville.

He was quickly ruled out, suggesting it's a serious injury. It's possible Mack's dealing with some sort of fracture. Mack was on his way to a huge day, rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown before exiting early in the third quarter. With Jordan Wilkins sidelined, Jonathan Williams has replaced Mack as the Colts' early-down back.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Marlon Mack fractured his hand in Sunday's win over the Jaguars.

This doesn't come as a surprise after Mack was quickly ruled out. Mack has already been ruled out for the Colts' Thursday night game against the Texans and is likely going to miss multiple games. With Jordan Wilkins (ankle) also sidelined, Jonathan Williams and Nyheim Hines should form a Week 12 committee.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed Marlon Mack (hand) is not expected to play in Thursday's Week 12 game against the Texans.

That was a given after Mack broke his hand in Sunday's win over Jacksonville. Further complicating matters, the injury is to Mack's "carry" hand (his right), which is obviously a necessity. He'll see a hand specialist to determine the full extent of his injury. Without him, the Colts will turn to a committee featuring Jonathan Williams—who rushed for a career-high 116 yards in Week 11—and receiving back Nyheim Hines.

no idea how to compare the injuries, but here are a few examples of RBs with fractured hands:

McGahee only missed 1 full game

However, McGahee fractured his hand early in the second half as well. In that game, McGahee could have moved up from 10th in the NFL in rushing to 8th. McGahee was unable to play the following week against the Lions due to his injury. The Broncos lost 45-10. However, the following week against the Raiders, McGahee came back with a strong performance.
DeMarco Murray missed no games

Murray broke his left hand in a win at Philadelphia that gave the Cowboys (11-4) the NFC East lead. He had surgery the next day, was doing individual drills with protective padding two days after that, and had 22 carries in a 42-7 win over the Colts that clinched the division title and ended Dallas' four-year playoff drought.

"It affected me a little bit," said Murray, who matched his season low in per-carry average at 2.6 yards from the previous week against the Eagles.
CJ Prosise missed  3 or 4 games in 2016, though he was a rookie and had only played one game, so that may have delayed him.  also, i guess receiving and special teams also were important for him.

The fact it's his right hand is a big concern to me. Murray had his left hand broke. Not sure about McGahee.
Assuming that it's his dominant hand?  Do we know if Murray was a righty/lefty?

I don't think the situation is clear enough to spend high on any of them although Hines may be the most consistent option available in PPR formats.

FBGers as a resource... nice work! Had a trade offer sent trying to ship J.Williams to me and didn't have to go far to find the "split carries" blurb above.

Any update on when he is back?  All I see is "No timetable" and being ruled out on Monday for the week 13 game can't be a sign that he's close to returning.

Also Williams has looked good, so I doubt they are going to rush Mack back.

They'd better not be dumb enough to reduce the carries of a guy with 3 100 yard games in a row.  (says the Mack and Williams owner)
I'd bet $100 that, if this were the Cardinals, Kingsbury would come out on Friday and state that both Wilkins and Williams were 100% and that Williams was the starter, then he'd give Wilkins 30 carries and Williams 1...

Guess I'm in the minority here, but I've thought Williams looks like jag personally. He's had a couple of nice runs that I've been impressed with, but it's the O-line & volume making him look good vs Williams looking for real. Just my opinion.

As both a Mack and Williams owner, Williams last 2 weeks are better than any two week stretch Mack has had this year.

The first two weeks for Mack were very similar to this 2 game stretch.  May just be recency bias for you.
In my PPR league Mack had 25.4 + 8.3 = 33.7 in weeks 1 and 2.

Williams had 15.7 + 21.1 = 36.8 the past 2 weeks.

36.8 is better than 33.7.  But I’ll add Williams only played about half a game vs Jax or the numbers would be more different.

Bottom line I’ll be very happy if Williams stays the bell cow. But that’s just me.

When someone says Mack hasn't had the two week stretch Williams had and I look at these numbers, I tend to disagree:

Mack: Rushing- 225 yards on 45 carries 1 TD. 4 receptions for 12 yards.

Williams: Rushing: 220 yards on 39 carries 1 TD. 4 receptions for 48 yards.

It is a difference of 30 receiving yards.  I am not arguing that Williams was slightly better (your comment was that Mack hadn't had a two week stretch like this) but this seems like a similar 2 week stretch.

Williams is obviously a JAG, IMO, but JAGs in good situations produce fantasy points.  The JAG factor is more of a job security issue if they can produce in the situation.

He was dropped and I picked him up off waivers.  Have the best record and secured a first round bye.  Surprised he was dropped as he still has a 92% ownership in Yahoo leagues.

I think that you were smart to pick him up, especially since you can afford to wait, but I also think that for teams more on the bubble, it is totally defensible to drop him. I would guess that the odds of him playing in week 14 are less than 50%.  Week 15, I’m not totally sure how to evaluate.  I think that week 16 is the soonest that you can feel confident that he will play and do you are holding a roster spot for someone who is still not a lock for a theoretical championship game you may never get to.    I am still holding because I am in first, though don’t have a bye secured, because I feel like I have the luxury.

Marlon Mack (hand) is targeting a Week 14 return.

Mack has already been ruled out for Sunday. This is the first real timetable we've seen on him. Mack has yet to practice since he went down in Week 11, so he's far from a lock to be back next week. The Colts will continue to go with a committee of Jonathan Williams and Nyheim Hines until he returns.

This makes a lot of sense. I am fighting for a playoff spot. I would have a tough time picking someone up that won’t help me until week 15 at the earliest.

Interesting, considering Rene Bremel has him listed as "doubtful" for wk 14 still.

I have Mack & Williams, am I supposed to pick up and start Wilkins now???  😖

Marlon Mack (hand) returned to practice Wednesday.

Mack has been targeting a Week 14 return, and this gives him a shot at that. Jonathan Williams lit up Week 12 but was a mere rotational back last week with Nyheim Hines getting more involved on the ground. If Mack is able to play this week, he'll get a tougher road test against the Bucs' stout run defense.
