Official 2013 Returnmen thread (1 Viewer)

Any update out of GB, is Cobb getting all the returns?

No new revelations came out of the Green Bay Packers narrowing their field of candidates for kickoff and punt return duties on Friday..

As expected, those responsibilities will be decided among receiver Randall Cobb, running back Johnathan Franklin and cornerback Micah Hyde after the team parted ways with receiver Jeremy Ross during the bye week. The Packers added a returner with legitimate credentials earlier this week when Utah rookie Reggie Dunn was signed to the practice squad, but it appears he’ll remain in that capacity until further notice.Instead, it likely will be the task of the Cobb or Franklin to improve a kickoff return unit that’s dead last in productivity (12.1 yards per return) with Hyde possibly factoring into the punt return situation.“It will be situational,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. “We’re looking at Johnathan Franklin, Micah Hyde, Randall Cobb. It’s a game plan decision based on when and where.”

Week 6 projections and article is in and should be showing up soon. Couple of notes.

Jacoby Jones is close to being back, might be eased in this week. Ravens returners have done great without him.

LaGarrette Blount's use on offense cut into his returns, with Devin McCourty replacing him. Leon Washington also got a return but was injured during special teams play. Ridley is back, but it's a gamble to start Blount as a returner this week.

Keshawn Martin has been returning a high percentage of kickoffs, but he was injured this week so his situation needs to be watched as the week progresses.

San Diego continues to trail the league in touchback percentage, so Indy has a nice matchup for kickoff returners this week.

Week 7 article is up. Slow going this week in part due to the sheer volume of injuries and depth chart changes. That section is about twice as long as in previous weeks, so make sure to check your player's status. Also as always, if you hear anything about returners, please continue to post in here. A lot of times returner news doesn't get much play in the national press, so people may hear something about their local team that is difficult for me to spot.

The Titans cut Darius Reynaud. Damian Williams has been serving as the backup so is the best bet to take over.

Has anyone heard any reasoning behind David Reed being inactive against the Broncos last week?

Guessing because they dressed so many DBs
I was thinking that might be the case as well, though was hoping someone may have heard for sure.

Waiting on some drive stats to show up and then should have the Week 8 projections done. A few notes from the article. Fozzy Whittaker was signed by the Browns and is in the mix for kick returns now. Also Tampa Bay signed Bobby Rainey, but I don't know that he's likely to do more than back up Eric Page while Jeff Demps is injured.

Ace Sanders is expected to take punt returns back over for Jacksonville.

The Browns have said Fozzy Whittaker will continue to be the lead on kickoff returns, with Travis Benjamin also getting some touches.
