Things that you have won. Auction, raffle, lotto, etc. (1 Viewer)

I was the winning bid on a house coming out of forclosure. Does that count? Made pretty good money in it even though the stupid real estate agents made about the same.

Nice bottle of Patron and a car amp at a bachelor party a few years back. I generally win cool things at smaller raffles where somebody you know is going to win, it's just about what.

I gave the amp away because I didn't know the dude that well compared to the other people, and it was a nicer, reasonable amp. Patron was mine, though. :stirspot:

I won a signed photo from the Kinsey report at an American Legion hall where they were playing. It was awkward since I didn't know who they are before that night. They were all sitting around the table in a back room thinking to themselves this guy doesn't even know who we are and they were right.

I won a one meelion pixel digital camera at some traveling IBM technical preview. It was about 10 years ago.

I once bought five Connecticut lottery scratch-offs at store in a mall. Did not scratch'em until I got home. All five tickets, with the perforations unbroken, were winners. Don't recall the exact order but they were $50, $10, $10, $2 and $2 winners. Had I scratched them off in the mall I would have immediately reinvested $74 into more tickets.

Very nice. The bachelor parties that I've attended never had decent gifts. Above average strippers, but crappy prizes.

N8ght the Playstation 2 came out. ..won the raffle to be one of the 15 to buy one that night at Walmart out of about 200 people or so there.

Had confidence and had already bought a controller and game earlier that day.

It doesn't really matter what the item is. There's a physical rush, yes?Love it!

Heart started racing as they called numbers and they were matching one by one.

Some guy offered me $50 more than the price of it to sell it to him.

I won my daughter an ipod back about 12-13yrs ago,

We were going through some rough times and the ipod was all the rage. Her being so into music broke my heart that we couldn't afford one.

I got lucky enough to attend my works insurance golf outing and they had a putting contest for an ipod. I sunk a 72 foot curving, rolling downhill putt that took a 45 degree turn at the the last 5 feet. Luckiest day of my life. No one else got within 10ft, and I sunk that *******.

I was so freaking happy, I didn't even stick around for the dinner. To see that look on her face was the best thing, and brought me to tears.

Went to a bar after work with two friends and won a free bus ride, a tent, and 2 tickets to the Woodstock where they set everything in fire. Was trying to decide which of the three of us was out of luck when they pulled one of my friends' names out in the next drawing 15 minutes later and we had to recruit a fourth.

Didn't get to pack a bag or anything. Stepped directly out of the bar and onto the bus.

Jokingly told my boss when I left work that if I didn't show the next day I would be at Woodstock.

Anyone remember the Atari Jaguar? The first 64 bit system. Right when it was released, a new video rental store opened up in my town and as a promo to get new customers, they were raffling off a Jaguar system. I got the call one day that I won...was 10 years old and was the happiest day of my life. My friends were jealous. Found out later on that my older sister's best friend started working there and she rigged it for me.

Joke was really on me though...what a piece of crap. It came with a game called Cybermorph which I'm pretty sure just involved flying through 3D polygons, and I also got a game called Trevor McFur in the Crescent Galaxy. By memory, you were a cat that flew a spaceship in some sort of future world and would shoot at a bunch of stuff. Amazing that it wasn't a success.

If I have any luck, it's bad luck. I have never won anything that's based on luck, like a raffle or the lottery.

Oh yeah...people have prizes at bachelor parties? I've read a lot of crazy things here but that might be #1.

When I was a kid (maybe 8 or 9) I entered my name and my brother's name into a raffle for a new BMX bike at the local grocery store. A few weeks later, my brother won the bike. The day after he got it, he let me borrow it to ride to that same grocery store. While I was inside, someone stole the bike.

I think I was the only kid in my high school to apply for the $500 scholarship from the town Young Republicans club. I also was awarded the $500 scholarship from the Young Democrats. I felt that was appropriate.
A Ross Perot voter! Props...you were correct regarding NAFTA by the way.

I was at a golf outing up north Wisconsin. There was a raffle of stuff afterwards and most were t-shirts and other small things people donated. My family knew Mark Tauscher growing up as they were in the same small town. Saw him play high school basketball back in the day. So, my name is pulled first and there was nothing really of interest to me other than a Mark Tauscher signed Badgers mini-helmet. I took it and still have it packed away some where. I should craigslist it for $10.

When I was in high school I was a caddie. In my free time I would design golf courses on paper since this was pre-internet and stuff. I'd map them out and use all topography and everything. Fast forward a few years and there was a game called Sim Golf that was coming out. A couple months before it was released you could download the demo version which allowed you to design three holes on one plot of land. There was a contest and the top prize was a free game and some other stuff. Third place was just the free game. I probably submitted a handful of courses but I won third place. Received the email and confirmed everything and was sent a free copy ($50 back then). I wish someone would make a similar game to that as that game was awesome.

My one roommate in college and his girlfriend wanted to go play Bingo at Oneida casino one night. They invited me along so we went to play Bingo. This was one of the more random things and reasons why I've ever gone to a casino. Anyway, top prize for normal games was $300. The guy is calling numbers and I'm down to one number. BINGO!!!! The other two look at me in disbelief. Guy comes over and confirms it. One problem though... two other people at Bingo so I won a $100.

I don't buy scratch off lottery tickets except for gifts and stuff. I was babysitting my nephew one night when he was three. I bought a $20 holiday card for him to scratch off as it was something for us to do that night. I told him the rules and he needed to have three of one symbol to win. Different symbols had different dollar amounts. He's scratching one by one and I'm doing a running tally. We get two of a few pictures and then a third comes up. So, I ask him how much we won? He looks and says $20. A couple more scratches and he gets a third of another symbol. How much? $30! Add them up. $50! That was a fun night.

Back when I paddled i won a slalom oc1 in a raffle to benefit the local watershed. Value was around $1200.

About 10 years ago I won $600 in a high hand jackpot at the Plaza.

In the 80's my brother won a bj at a bachelor party. He had to "take delivery" up on stage in front of everyone.

The symmetry of that is hauntingly beautiful.

My son's school had a carnival/fund raiser thing yesterday on the last day of school. There was a teacher dunk tank that he wanted to do but the line was too long. So he bought raffle tickets instead and won a pair of $200 Beats headphones.

I won a seat in the BMW driving experience/school in a raffle a few years ago. Classroom/safety for first hour then we got to drive 4 different BMWs on the test tracks at the BMW plant in SC. I was best in class at the time trials on an obstacle course track. The experience was awesome. And I got a sweet hat for free.

I've gone to a convention five or six times over the past ten years and won an Xbox 360 (when that was a thing) and a $250 American Expresss card. Ive won more minor things from the radio like tickets to see Carlos Mencia, who was hilarious and recently won tickets to see the local minor league baseball team.

Small stuff here and there. Most recent (within the last year) decent thing was an autographed Colts Manning Jersey. Was thinking about selling it but maybe I'll hold on to it until he makes the HOF, would think the price would go up.

I agree with this. Probably sell it at the time of his induction.

I won a basket of cheer at my church's reverse raffle about 10 years ago. More recently I won $2 on the PowerBall lottery. Woo-hoo!

Recently won $2000 on a pull tab ticket on cruise ship and then after returning home, won 4 day 3 night free trip to St. Lucia. Guess using part of the 2K to pay for airfare for the trip, but worth it.

Sams Club had a raffle at their door for a Grant Hill basketball. This was a long time ago when he was pretty young and everyone thought he was the next Jordan. I signed up and a couple weeks later had a Grant Hill basketball. It's still sitting at my parents house. I don't think it's really worth anything. Maybe next time I visit the state I'll throw it up on ebay or something. But might not be worth the effort since like I said it's probably worth $20 or $30.

At a Beef and beer my wife and I went to the 'big' raffle prize was a 'Big Green Egg grill'. Retail was about 1k, so we figured, what the heck, we'll throw a ticket in. Long story short, we won and didn't really want to lug this almost 200 pound thing back to the house. Guy offered us $800 cash, so we took it.

I won a Mercedes SUV a few years ago at a charity fundraiser. I didn't need it so I took a check.

About 10-12 years ago, I won a big screen TV in an NCAA bracket pool. I had the best bracket out of ~10,000 entries.

Got a call at work one day.

Caller: Hey this is Dave from SomeCompany, Congratulations, you won the pen!

Me: What pin?

Caller: The really nice pen.

Me: What pin are you talking about?

Caller: The pen, it's a PEN!

Me: Oh, a pen? How did I win it?

Caller:  You entered our raffle at the Whatever conference last week.

Me:  I didn't go to the Whatever conference last week.

Caller:

Me:

I guess it was some $120 pen set. Someone put my business card in the raffle bucket by mistake. I never did track down who it was.

Won a 50 inch flat screen TV for a $10 raffle ticket for little league fund raiser.

Won $10,000 for bowling a 300 game during the year end 300 game tourney. You needed to have a 300 game in league during the year to get into the tourney.

Once won a 3-day, 2-night stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel (a VERY nice hotel on the waterfront in Boston). Back then, the rooms went for about $550 a night. It was one of those deals in which a radio station comes out with, "And if Spike calls in the next hour...".
