Listening to a lot of shows back, these last two weeks have been some of the best Phish ever. They are on fire right now and I hope they announce more dates than just Indio. In Saratoga, Trey was acting like he wished the tour wasn't ending so I wouldn't be surprised if they come back prior to Indio.

No way. They have to learn an entire album by Halloween. I would be shocked if they announce more dates prior to Indio.

That being said, Indio is gonna be off the charts!! I am so stoked to have tixs and an RV already reserved!!!

Bag it, tag it . . .

It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have tour dates after Halloween either. Maybe a 2-3 week tour in the NE and SE, but I think it's just as likely the next shows after Indio will be some type of NYE tour -- has this been announced yet?
Word on the street is that there will be three New Year's Eve shows in Miami, or maybe Big Cyprus; but all rumor as of now.

And in response to the FYI "they learn songs in ten minutes", FYI they also have never been big fans of touring a.k.a. Dead style. Plus, Mike already has tour dates this fall for his band, and I am sure Trey has other projects going, so . . .

What are you trying to say here? Phish can easily listen to a song and play it immediately. There have been numerous examples of them learning a song in setbreak and playing in the second set. At least phish mid 90's did.

I'm saying its one thing to play the music, another to memorize the lyrics. Trey ain't hitting the hard stuff anymore ya know. I mean really, how much can you do on coffee?

I am saying they are one of the alltime most talent musicians and it would take about an afternoon for them to learn how to play an album say "Exile on Main Street" or something straight forward like that. I am not sure what your point is about drugs. I am only saying they can hear a song and pick it up and play it. It doesnt take that long, its something they have done for 30+ years of their life.

Talented for rock musicians, yes, but not necessarily more talented than your average competent jazz player.Something like Exile on Main Street, with the large number of songs (even if it's all simple blues/rock), I'd estimate would take a good week of solid practice to get tight enough to perform live in front of 1000s.Heck, the innernets should be able to tell us how long it took to get the White Album down in '94. I guarantee you it was longer than 30 min. x # of songs.

And all I am saying is that there is no way they play any shows before Halloween. PLUS, while they may learn songs quickly, Trey is uber anal about practice and learning another bands entire album as originally recorded is not something you do overnight. I remember reading somewhere back in the day that they spent like 6 months practicing the Beatles' White Album because Trey wanted it to be better, not just a mere copy, of the original. And  at "not sure your point is about drugs"

just went to Phish.com and saw the new media - these guys know how to create a buzz.

This is so cool - I hope they kill 2-3 albums per day.

And if it's Kid A........it's ON!

I guessed Springsteen a while back but would love to see them do either Larks' Tongues In Aspic or White Pepper.

Has anyone heard rumors of a European spring 2010 tour?

Yea, there is a strong rumor that they will do a European tour next Spring. My friend is a true "head" is already trying to get his ducks in a row so he can go.Me not so much. If I am in Europe I don't want to be in tour mode. But that is me.

If I was going Id be more pumped than anything for the halloween set. That said, if they played U2 or some other album by a band I couldnt stand after all that anticipation, Im pretty sure I would walk back to to the tent and get drunk until the 3rd set.

There are a ton of albums still listed that Id love. One pick different than most for me would be Rage Against the Machine. Cactus would be dropping bombs, Trey would shred that ####, and Fishman taking care of vocals on some of those songs (which I bet he would) would be hysterical.

Rumor mill is saying Giant Country Horns may show up.

Holy ####!!!!!

Seems that would limit the albums covered, but who knows??

Was reading this Rolling Stone article, which points out that on the Halloween shooting gallery, a languedoc guitar has been swapped out for Bruce's guitar on the Born to Run cover:

If you stop and think about it, you can't really cover this album without a horn section :bs:

ETA: Could be a red herring, because it appears other album covers have been altered.
