I love it a real source from the team saying right out that DT will be getting work as well and still people want to dismiss it as nothing without anything to back it up other than a few other MIller owners
They're also completely ignoring the fact that this exact same coaching staff gave Thomas significantly more touches just last year.
Now don't get me wrong -- I agree that Thomas blows, and think that Miller leads the team in carries this year. But it seems foolish to me to draft Miller under the assumption that he'll not only dominate the carries, but also gets 3rd down and short yardage as well. And that the o-line and offense in general (as well as Miller himself) are good enough to provide high end RB2 stats...
Miller will be in on third downs if he proves he has pass protection down......and in reading Tannehills quotes in our local rag here (Sun Sentinal) Ryan has been raving about Lamar's pass protection. Last season he had to point every one out to him....this year he has not had to help him at all in knowing what his pass protect assignment is.Thomas blows.....your right. He will get......5-8 carries max if Lamar Miller does what most of us expect him to do. Lamar Miller is in line for 17-22 carries a game.......easy. He is the most explosive player outside of Mike Wallace on this offense.
HE IS A LEGIT NFL PLAYMAKER.
This year he proves it.
Again.....keep your eye out for Gray...he has a legit shot at winning the short yardage and goaline specialist role. Mark it down.
So if he wins that....where does that leave Thomas? Nowhere.
The only chance Thomas has...is if Miller suffers a injury. That's it. And I pray as a Dolphin fan he stays healthy or we are toast in the running game.
Gulipsee (sp?) has struggled thus far.....but even he has far more upside than a 3rd year back in Thomas. DT is fighting for a roster spot IMO if he does not show something over the next 2 pre-season games.
