He's our new Dempsey. Dude just tries shot and I love it. Hoping he develops a little Dempsey fire. Honestly, when I see stuff like this it really just makes me miss Dempsey. Here is a close up to see the foot work from the other angle

Is he a left back? Follow up question: WHY ISN'T HE A LEFT BACK!?I missed it, but my 13 year old (who dribbles around the house looking for the meg opps on his whole family) went ape#### in real time.
When was the last time a defender scored twice?Long and Zardes both had a brace yesterday. That has not happened since 2008 where two US players had a brace in the same game.
Paul Carr tweeted out that that was the FIRST EVER brace for a USMNT defender. Heady times at the Gold Cup.When was the last time a defender scored twice?
Glad you're here! Be sure to score Weston +2 for that fracas. TIAPaul Carr tweeted out that that was the FIRST EVER brace for a USMNT defender. Heady times at the Gold Cup.
of the younger generation, he seems to have by far the most "fire in the belly".btw... did we cover McKennie not having any after the Gyasi foul and subsequent overreaction? Loved seeing that. We've almost never had that sort of bite in the squad.
tell them about Pulisic. His grandfather was from CroatiaLove talking football with the Croatians. Their face lights up every time I raise the subject.
and while I don't speak a word of Spanish, Cantor's call of this play just crushed Darke's call IMO. Cantor nearly breaking into tears is still so powerful to hear all these years later.holy crap, this is already 9 years old.....the years, where are you going??

Just finished grading and I did indeed give Weston a +2 for “tough guy” . Just gotta write it up now.Glad you're here! Be sure to score Weston +2 for that fracas. TIA
And all the points to CP for that #### you meg.Just finished grading and I did indeed give Weston a +2 for “tough guy” . Just gotta write it up now.
I’ve heard this 10 times from ten different Croatians!tell them about Pulisic. His grandfather was from Croatia
Thank you so much for this. I've seen the gol posted all day, but not this version. This is the anti-WondoAvatar. Makes me happy. Thanks again.and while I don't speak a word of Spanish, Cantor's call of this play just crushed Darke's call IMO. Cantor nearly breaking into tears is still so powerful to hear all these years later.

I like the grades for everyone but Pulisic. I have no idea how his second half is rated exactly the same as the first. He had T&T on roller skates out there in the second.
your note about Weston is the same thing I am starting to appreciate in his game. The kid can pass the ball really well. He has a knack for finding the seams and weighing the ball nicely.
Ginger Molasses...I like that.Told you guys Zardes was the real deal. I don’t give a crap if he looks like a fool out there if he keeps putting the ball in between the pipes. Guess some guys prefer nicely executed Hammie pulls or ginger molasses
Shows what are standards are. Spoiler alert: bad. Allegory: that ugly fat girl ####s.Told you guys Zardes was the real deal. I watched most of the Mexico/Martinique game; Mex looks vulnerable on D.Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Haiti, US and Panama are through to the Gold Cup quarter finals.
Group C is still up in the air with three teams (Jamaica, ELS and Curacao) fighting for the top 2 spots.
Even Canada had their moments against Mexico.I watched most of the Mexico/Martinique game; Mex looks vulnerable on D.
haven't had time to read scienceguy's review... but while watching "live" I made a comment in the 2nd half that Boyd was more involved than CP, who had disappeared a bit. that obviously changed as the half progressed, but slightly troubling that he turned it on mostly after T&T ran out of gas. Boyd seemed more consistently involved, IMO.I like the grades for everyone but Pulisic. I have no idea how his second half is rated exactly the same as the first. Rightfully so IMO. Mexico is looking shakier than we are right now. There is some truth to this

man if Tata Martino's USMNT conceded 2 goals to Martinique we would be absolutely losing our ####
Canada is definitely a team on the rise in Concacaf, along with the balance of power shifting out of Central America, IMO. Honduras is a mess. Costa Rica is old. Panama isn’t really stepping up.NewlyRetired said:Even Canada had their moments against Mexico.
Although to be fair, I think both Martinique and Canada are better than the two teams the US has played so far.
The US and ELS are the only two teams unscored upon so far (ELS only has one goal scored though)
As long as we can play T&T every game we should be good.BassNBrew said:Told you guys Zardes was the real deal. I don’t give a crap if he looks like a fool out there if he keeps putting the ball in between the pipes. Guess some guys prefer nicely executed Hammie pulls or ginger molasses
The format is not set yet though right?I know ther is no longer a hex
Rightfully so IMO. The Mexico C team is looking shakier than we are right now.
That's pretty much already guaranteed to happen though isn't it? Once the move to 48 teams happens does a US v Mexico qualifier really mean anything other than pride? The format is not set yet though right?
I am scared to think what CONCACAF is going to come up with. If they really screw things up, we may have seen the end of US vs Mexico qualifying games.
In the future yes. In 2026 we won't even have qualifying and by 2030, if they keep the 48 teams, then we will never play Mexico again in qualifying. Pride or not, there is no format that would likely see the US and Mexico in the same final group. That's pretty much already guaranteed to happen though isn't it? CR lost to Haiti 2-1 last night.Canada is definitely a team on the rise in Concacaf, along with the balance of power shifting out of Central America, IMO. Honduras is a mess. Costa Rica is old. Panama isn’t really stepping up.
I know ther is no longer a hex, but if there were, it might look like Mexico, US, Costa Rica (for one more cycle), Canada, Jamaica, and Haiti.
I mentioned it on the soccer thread- at RB arena too. After CRs last miserable visit there, it was really nice to see them lose. That and USs win over W&B feels like the wheel has turned.CR lost to Haiti 2-1 last night.
