The Official Kicker (K) Thread (5 Viewers)

Jaguars promoted K Aldrick Rosas from the practice squad.

In what is seemingly the Jaguars' millionth kicker transaction of 2020, Chase McLaughlin has been waived. The Jags are headed into a potential shootout with the Titans, but Rosas is not on the Week 14 streaming radar.

Jets claimed K Chase McLaughlin off waivers from Jaguars.

Sergio Castillo missed three of his four field goal tries in the first half of Sunday's blowout to Seattle, forcing the team to look elsewhere for his inevitable replacement. McLaughlin meanwhile made 4-of-5 field goals and 3-of-4 extra points in three appearances for Jacksonville this year. Expect Castillo to be waived in the coming days.

Broncos placed K Brandon McManus on the reserve/COVID list.

McManus checked into a local hotel on Monday where he'll self-isolate for the next five days. The Broncos have K Taylor Russolino on the practice squad and can activate him to the 53-man roster if McManus can’t turn around for Saturday. There's still a chance he's cleared in time for kick-off with five consecutive days of negative tests.

Jets waived K Sergio Castillo.

Castillo was part of "Shank Sunday" around the league, missing three field goals in the Jets' 40-3 loss to the Seahawks. Sam Ficken (groin), who is eligible to return from injured reserve, will presumably be activated to start against the Rams. He will find himself in the K30-32 range for the fantasy semis.

Bucs placed K Ryan Succop on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Bucs' entire specialist trio of Succop, P Bradley Pinion and LS Zach Triner have landed on the coronavirus list. It is unclear which of the three, if any, are positive. The most likely assumption is that one is positive and the other two are close contacts. Whoever is positive will be ineligible for Sunday's game against the Falcons, one that will produce fantasy relevance for kickers. Greg Joseph is the next man up for the Bucs.

Been riding Koo for a few weeks now...but TB pretty stingy against kickers.  And Bass is out there tempting me...same with Matt Gay.

I love FF and second guessing everything I do...yippeee

Taylor Russolino will kick for the Broncos on Saturday against the Bills.

Brandon McManus, who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list this week, would have been eligible for a Sunday game. Denver takes on Buffalo in a Saturday matchup, meaning the Broncos will be without their big-footed kicker. In his place will be Russolino, who played in the XFL this year. He shouldn't be rostered in fantasy leagues as the Broncos are underdogs and therefore unlikely to be in position to attempt field goals.

Zane Gonzalez (back) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday.

Gonzalez missed Week 14 against the Giants with the back issue. Mike Nugent stepped in and nailed four field goals on his way to becoming the week's highest scoring kicker. Nugent is in a good spot this week against the Eagles since the Cardinals are favored.

Just FYI for all those out there. I know you're picking on points allowed by the defense, and the Jets are bad, but so is Matt Gay (watch -- he now sets a modern record for points scored or something). I have a choice and am rolling with Carlson tonight against LAC. Sanders is also available, but I don't trust Tua and the no WR offense they've got right now. Lynn Bowden? No thanks. No Gaskin or Ahmed, maybe? How will they move the ball?

Ugh. Lot of questions this important weekend in FF.

Its part of why it is still so hard some times to trust Koo...the Falcons are so meh.  But Ryan and Co seem just good enough to get into FG range and then squander a TD chance and settle for FGs which has worked so far...Buffalo decent at that too.  Which is why I go back and forth between Koo and Bass.  Just don't want to miss that Koo 18 point game to settle for Bass getting 11 and lose a close semi final.

And yeah...I entertained Gay much less than the other two.

I also rolled with Carlson. Got us 9 points. I am satisfied with that. Could have been substantially worse.

Is Gay that terrible?

He's universally the highest ranked kicker I see left in waivers. Since I'm a "drop a kicker every week into waivers" guy I have my eye on him. The matchup is certainly there for a lot of opportunities.

It's either him, Succup, or Boswell.

He got cut by the Bucs after being a draft pick, if I'm not mistaken. So not so good. I don't know if his inaccuracy will outweigh his volume. Likely not, and he's consensus #1 based on that. I didn't go with him and took the nine. What's your floor requirement? It is the Jets, after all.

Went Succup instead. He's off the Covid list and is indoors @ATL.

Gotta think off the bye and needing a win TB controls this game. And Brady and that offense usually have enough misfires in the redzone to give Succup opportunities.

May switch to Gay at the last moment if I feel like I really need a chance at some silly K output. Feel like Gay could give you 15+ points, but could also be terrible and give you negaive 1 left and right and drive you nuts.

Jets activated K Sam Ficken (groin) from injured reserve.

Ficken has been out since Week 11. He's 9-of-10 on field goals and 8-of-10 on extra points this season. The Jets recently cut replacement K Sergio Castillo.

Broncos activated K Brandon McManus from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

McManus is back with the team after sitting out Week 15. With McManus cleared, Taylor Russolino will revert to the practice squad.

Nugent got sent back to the Arizona practice squad, right? When can we expect him to get called back up for Saturday's game? Or is someone else kicking in Arizona this week?

Can't decide between "Arizona's kicker", Parkey, or Bass. Might have to go with correlating factors related to the rest of my roster and my opponent's.

Gonzalez was put on IR & Nugent was one of Arizona’s protected list, so another team can’t sign him.  Looks like he’ll be kicking this week.

I picked up Cairo Santos to start over Jason Sanders this week, but may pivot back if MIA gets some of their offensive starters back. Santos has been pretty good as of late and Jags D will surely offer plenty of opporunities.

Sticking with Bass. Offense is good so he gets plenty of opportunity and they stall enough for him to get FGs as well as XPs.
League has let me go between he and Koo the last few weeks.  Both have delivered well...not sure it makes sense to think Atl would settle for a lot of FGs against KC

I rode Lutz for 14 weeks but made the right call last wk vs KC and replaced him.
now for wk16, I’m deciding between

Lutz v Minn

succup @ Det.
both are domes w good matchups but leaning toward succup as I couldn’t stomach starting Lutz and then see him crater.

anyone sticking w Lutz??

I too had Lutz for 14 weeks and got off him last week for Blankenship. I had the chance to get Lutz back as I see he is rated high again this week. Instead I bid $1 on Succup and got em. Lutz was eventually picked up and I am fine with letting him go. He could bounce completely back or he could have his demons. I figure TB at DET (dome) has got to produce 30 points or so for TB.  Only problem is perhaps too many TD's and not enough FG's. Happy to cut bait and go Succup.

I got rid of him last week because a. he was due for a #### week, and b. K.C is too tough a game, sure enough that was the right move.  I re -picked him up this week.  I think there are going to be a lot of field goal opportunities against the Vikings, everyone is going to be playing hard.  People forget how big a rivalry this is.  These two teams hate each other.

Titans placed K Stephen Gostkowski on the reserve/COVID list.

It's unclear if Gostkowski tested positive or if he was simply a close contact. If it's the latter, there's still more than enough time for him to keep isolated and be cleared for Sunday's showdown against Houston. Tennessee will turn to Sam Sloman, who was 8-of-11 on field goal tries with the Rams this year, from the practice squad if Gostkowski can't go.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said he has "a ton of confidence" in kicker Cody Parkey.

Parkey has been on the erratic side of late, most recently missing an extra point in the Browns' Week 16 loss to the Jets. Parkey, who has made 40 of 44 extra points and 18 of 21 field goal tries this season, will be the team's kicker in Week 17 against Pittsburgh. He's not a recommended option for the underdog Browns. The Steelers have allowed the fifth fewest field goal attempts in 2020.

49ers signed Robbie Gould to a two-year, $7.25 million extension.

It's a fully guaranteed deal for Gould. The 38-year-old has made 19-of-23 (82.6%) of his field goals this year and is 94.7% on extra points. Gould's new deal keeps him in San Francisco through 2022.

49ers placed K Robbie Gould on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Signed to a two-year extension Wednesday morning, Gould is now in danger of missing the Week 17 finale. If he tested positive, he's definitely out for that one. Gould has drilled 19-of-23 field goal attempts this season. The Niners have signed K Tristan Vizcaino off the Vikings' practice squad.

ROBERTO AGUAYO K, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

Patriots signed K Roberto Aguayo, QB Jake Dolegala, DT Bill Murray, G Ross Reynolds, K Justin Rohrwasser, CB D'Angelo Ross, WR Devin Smith, DT Nick Thurman, WR Kristian Wilkerson, and WR Isaiah Zuber to reserve/future contracts.

All 10 players finished the year on New England's practice squad. With Nick Folk scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, the Patriots also notably brought back both Aguayo and Rohrwasser.

Panthers re-signed K Joey Slye.

Slye was set to be an exclusive rights free agent, so he should be returning for that salary of $765,000. Slye has a huge leg, but he hovers right around the 80 percent range as a field goal kicker. That's typically the cut off for a "good" kicker. It's possible Slye faces some summer 2021 competition, but he will likely keep the job he has held since 2019.

Titans removed Stephen Gostkowski from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The veteran missed Week 17's win over the Texans after being placed on the COVID list December 28. Gostkowski heads into the postseason after a rocky campaign, missing eight of his 26 field goal attempts and two extra points. The Titans will trust Gostkowski with the pressure of playoff kicks.

Vikings signed K Greg Joseph.

Waived by the Titans in September, Joseph spent most of the year on the Super Bowl champion Bucs' practice squad. It is conceivable he will challenge/replace Dan Bailey, who has been the bane of coach Mike Zimmer's existence since arriving in Minnesota. Bailey has converted under 80 percent of his field goal attempts since arriving in Minneapolis after he was near 90 in Dallas.

Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports the Dolphins have "expressed interest" in extending K Jason Sanders.

Sanders is entering the final season of his rookie contract after being selected in the seventh round of 2018. Last year, Sanders connected on 36-of-39 field goal attempts and made all 36 extra points. Those are career-best numbers. Spending up on kickers coming off career years is typically a bad move, particularly in a cap-condensed season.
