The Purge

A senior advisor to the State Department appointed just two months ago has been quietly vetting career diplomats and American employees of international institutions to determine whether they are loyal to President Donald Trump and his political agenda, according to nearly a dozen current and former U.S. officials.

Mari Stull, a former food and beverage lobbyist-turned-wine blogger under the name “Vino Vixen,” has reviewed the social media pages of State Department staffers for signs of ideological deviation. She has researched the names of government officials to determine whether they signed off on Obama-era policies — though signing off does not mean officials personally endorsed them but merely cleared them through the bureaucratic chain. And she has inquired about Americans employed by international agencies, including the World Health Organization and the United Nations, asking their colleagues when they were hired and by whom, according the officials.

“She is actively making lists and gathering intel,” said one of the sources, a senior diplomat. Stull was named in April as a senior advisor to the State Department’s Bureau of International Organization Affairs, which manages U.S. diplomatic relations with the United Nations and other international institutions.

Her probing, along with a highly secretive management style, has become so uncomfortable that at least three senior officials are poised to leave the bureau, according to the sources. Officials there have warned some Americans employed by the U.N. to sidestep traditional meet-and-greet sessions with the department’s upper management to avoid drawing attention to themselves.

“She is gunning for American citizens in the U.N. to see if they are toeing the line,” the diplomatic source added.

Stull seems to have the support of her boss, Kevin Moley, who was appointed by the White House in January to head the bureau with the title of assistant secretary of state for international organizational affairs.

Stull cheered his appointment on Twitter at the time, proclaiming the “Global swamp will be drained.”

But over time, she has emerged as the most dominant force in the department. One diplomat said she seemed to outrank Moley in influence.

It remains unclear whether Stull’s activities have the backing of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and key policymakers in the White House, or whether she has taken the initiative on her own. But her brief tenure has alarmed colleagues at the State Department.

Three deputy assistant secretaries of state in the bureau, Molly Phee, the bureau’s principal deputy, Erin Barclay, and Nerissa Cook, are said to be on the way out — though some may simply move to other bureaus at State.

“Everyone is looking to bail,” said one State Department official.

It's about time.  These were prevalent in the 60's-80's for divorcees.  Now you can disagree with religion and the Catholic church in particular on a lot of things but what Trump does is the exact opposite of what they claim to believe.

Sorry, but there's no Obama comparison to be made here.
Dijon Mustard.

It simply does not get more un-American than that.   Obama might as well have peed on the American flag.

Longtime major GOP donors and campaign workers in VA have told me last night and today that with Corey Stewart’s nomination, they are “done” with the party. Last straw, they say. Hard to know how widespread this is, but it’s not good news for Republicans.

Things don't seem to add up when you consider the number of Republican congressman who do not approve of Trump, most who are not running for reelection; Flake, Corker, Dent along with Sasse and McCain etc how is it that 85% of those who identify as Republicans give Trump a good approval. I realize that the party is shrinking a little and that a small % more identity as Democrats than Republican the disgruntled according to polls seem to be  relatively few. I currently have very little hope, particularly in the short run for the party I once belonged to.

Trump's having himself a day. Now there's this gem:

Aaron Rupar‏Verified account @atrupar 3h3 hours ago

Trump claims, preposterously, that parents of Korean War veterans came up to him during the 2016 campaign and said, "when you can, we'd love our son to be brought back home -- you know, the remains."

The Korean War ended in 1953.

:lmao: Such an offensive piece of garbage.

Thread...

This is the type of monster some of you support.

Kids...10-17 years old...

:X

Just finished tour, don’t even know where to start. One of the first things you notice when you walk into the shelter — no joke — a mural of Trump with the quote “sometimes losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.” Presidential murals everywhere. But that one is 1st.

SERIOUSLY...WTF?

That sounds deplorable, even for Trump!

Let's do the maths. If a parent at this time, had their son at 18 years old, meaning the boy was 18 when going to Korea and once in Korea at 18, he was killed. His parents would have been 35-36 at that time... given the maths. Presume this all happened in 1953, just because. So, in 1953 we have a 36 year old father/mother and then in 2016, they asked Trump to return the remains of their son. That would make the parents... (calculating)... 99 years old.

Yeah, seems about right.

Yikes is how kids grow up to hate America and become terrorists. This is a very dark time in American history and there’s a good chunk of the country who are perfectly fine with this.

@rockaction

Seriously, its dozens of (dead honestly scary) examples of this.

This. The villainization of the press.  The loyalty pledges.  The mind police looking to identify gov't staff that may not align politically with Trump in their private lives, and whether they helped advance the previous regimes policies (even when appropriate or even perfunctory as agency staff)

It's dead, scary, ####. Do you not see what we do?

Sickening. Trump supporters and apologists need to step here and call this what it is

There's a lot of hate in this country you guys.

Tho until lately it's been hard to see if you're white. Trump has made the racists come out of hiding essentially.

I think 33% of the voting population are hardcore MAGA racists. 33% are apathetic. And the remaining percentage are the ones who really want change and progress.

ISIS (or whatever group is next) going to end up trying to radicalize Hispanic immigrants

If you want to know what a bubble looks like, go to drudge right now.  Banner is:

"Congress to ban child sex robots."

I think Trump got a lot apathetic people. He was exciting. I am not sure how many he kept vs lost thought.

On so many levels:

“Hey, he’s a tough guy. When you take over a country—a tough country, tough people—and you take it over from your father, I don’t care who you are, what you are, how much of an advantage you have. If you can do that at 27 years old, I mean, that’s one in 10,000 that could do that. So he’s a very smart guy. He’s a great negotiator,”
