Trump threatens to cut aid to Honduras if they don't stop immigrant caravan

Who knew understanding what drives immigration could be so hard (hint it ain't a pickup truck)
Makes total sense.  Let's cut the aid making the environment they are already fleeing from in staggering numbers worse so that more people flee.  It's already been shown that his antics at our southern border have been ignored and not the deterrent he wanted them to be, so let's double down and make more people leave that area and flee to our borders.

BRILLIANT!!!!!

Imagine losing every day for almost 2 years straight. Imagine constantly thinking "THIS TIME WE'VE GOT HIM" Imagine hating the man sooooo much and then seeing his gleeful smirk.

Never tired of winning

It's all about the scoreboard.  Trump supporters have forever given up the right to complain about many things including how many times a president lies, how chaotic the White House is, how short-sighted policy may seem, how seemingly corrupt an administration is, etc.  As long as the Dems are using any means necessary to get their desired result, I'm sure Trump supporters will understand as this is the standard they're allowing to be set right now.
They have given up those things but the next time a Dem President lies, they will shout loud, and relentlessly to get the base motivated. They will never ever admit to anything Trump has done or how he has spoiled the office.

There was a re-run of Running Man on cable last night and I was struck by his resemblance to the Richard Dawson character.

Would anyone be all that surprised if in 2023 he's President/host of a reality show where falsely accused "criminals" are forced to run from brawny stalkers for the amusement of a cheering crowd that doesn't see the obvious scam while the rest of us huddle outside around garbage can fires?  Honestly this kind of seems like the most likely outcome.

The wall is just a precursor to a show where immigrants race each other, and a clock, to overcome deadly obstacles to make it across the border.

Great reveal from the 60 Minutes piece: oh my god, it's hanging in the white house
I like how the artist has hidden all the older Republican presidents except for the one that Trump can easily recognize. :D

The background guys seem to be (left to right):

- Grant
- unknown (could be someone facing away and to the left, could be a smudge)
- Arthur or Hitler
- Garfield or Hayes
- ??? (is that a person or an object?)
- "the first woman president" (or, as Trump and his supporters might describe her, "waitress bringing more drinks")
- Hayes or Garfield
- ??? (looks like someone whispering in Hayes/Garfield's ear)
- Benjamin Harrison
- ??? (has back to camera, talking to Harrison)
- Taft (actually it looks like a Taft impersonator with a novelty mustache)
- McKinley maybe (but he's smiling way too much to be McKinley)
- Hoover (peeking around the post)
- Harding
- Coolidge

Say what you will about Trump - that ####er has raised $100M towards his reelection campaign.

That will pay a lot of legal fees.

[insert something about someone and their money being soon parted]

Trump - Horseface

Stormy Daniels - Tiny ****

This is what has become of our country.   A president in a twitter war with a pornstar.     We can not get any lower.

He's already turning on the GOP and they just keep taking it from him...it's really amazing to watch.
He did this same #### during the election when everyone, including him, said he would lose.

He is just laying the groundwork for a potential big loss. Most important thing to him is that in his mind he doesn’t look bad.

Reich is correct, this is all barely news and will be forgotten and displaced by some other outrageous statements by POTUS by the next news cycle.

Robert Reich‏ @RBReich 13h13 hours ago

The President of the United States calls a woman a “horseface,” blows off the murder of a journalist, siding w/ an authoritarian regime, and rants about conspiracies theories all in the same day, and it’s barely news. We must refuse to normalize this with every fiber of decency.

Dunno where to put this, but I saw a tweet from Steve King supporting a lady known as Faith Goldy for mayor of Toronto.  Talk about a straight up neo-nazi
It's amazing to me that the press doesn't bring up Steve King's open support for White Nationalism with GOP rank and file more often. If any Republican ever tries the Rev. Wright/Bill Ayers guilt by association attack strategy ever again, the response should just be saying "Steve King Steve King Steve King" over and over until they shut up.

Same way he treated his ex-wives.   Seems that the GOP is a victim of domestic abuse by our President.
One of the late night guys (I think it was John Oliver) showed a clip of some Republican women who supported Brett Kavanaugh. They basically said "Getting groped is just part of growing up". The mistreatment was so normal to them that they did not even see it as mistreatment. Trump has exploited this mindset and manipulated Republicans into not only expecting bad behavior, but blaming themselves when things go wrong.

You know what disturbs me most of all about Steve King? He's a safe seat. He's winning his district by over 10 points.

Steve King's district is the 4th District in Iowa: it includes Sioux City. Ames, Mason City. It has a population of over 550,000 people. I'm sure most of these are nice, decent people, from America's heartland. Yet every 2 years, they vote for Steve King. Do they share his racist views? Or are they simply indifferent, willing to vote for the Republican because that's what they do? I don't know the answer.

I can't believe this guy continues to get elected. I mean, I guess I can. Its just depressing to know there are that many racists out there.

Does it really matter?

And I'm not sure how you can say most of them are nice, decent people.

In many ways they probably are. They probably don't have a lot of exposure to a broad, diverse demographic. I think that definitely alters their perception of things, and through that lens they aren't actively trying to engage in racism, even though racism may be a result of their actions, or their choices may unintentionally condone racism.

I don't know if "unintentionally condone" is really a legitimate semantic construct. Hopefully you get the idea though.

It does make sense. And you are probably correct.

I should not be so quick to judge them - its just difficult when you see people voting for an overt racist.

There are absolutely some wonderful people living in this area. My father was born and raised in those parts.  I lived there for a bit in the mid 90s. But the area is extremely rural and extremely white.  I've seen the racism.  But above all, in my experience,  these old white farmers hate regulations and social progressivism.  That's why they vote R.

I bet they'd hate it if we stopped regulating our agricultural system. It's the selfishness like this that's really annoying.
