Star Wars The Last Jedi Episode 8 thread: this thread sucks, you should avoid it even after you've seen the movie (1 Viewer)

Did Rey do anything for that? She kind of just distracted him.
Why do you care enough to ask?  You are done.  You are out.  Why do you bother talking about the movie?  There's a thread down the page about Britt McHenry and a tow truck or something.  I don't give a ####.  Do you know how you can tell?  I don't post there.  Yeah, you got me.  I guess you are trollin

I am assuming this has been covered, but it seems they must have shot some of the Luke / Rey scenes in time for The Force Awakens.  She gained a bit of weight on that island... :oldunsure:

Who pissed in your corn flakes?

And you know how this works. Don't be stupid.

I love Star wars more than a grown man should. So forgive me if I react immediately in a negative light to a film that basically turned it into just another Transformers turn your brain off popcorn fest.

OK, good enough.  Correct me where I'm wrong on this, I wasn't baked, but sometimes I don't remember everything perfectly  I recall Snoke using her as a Force punching bag.  Now I admit I don't fully understand the physiological effects of that stuff on a human body and mind, but it is most likely deleterious and the effects probably remain for some time.  In the same vein, I doubt all those people Vader and Ren force chokes are feeling great directly afterward either, but at least those people can just walk around in their Empire suits chillin in their space ships, but going back to Rey.  She had to enter a 2 on 7 fight with presumably highly trained and outfitted soldiers directly afterward.  It's my guess is that she isn't 100% for that fight, and neither is Kylo Ren.

I meant what did she do in regards to killing Snoke. She basically distracted him as a play thing while Kylo did his thing.

can you please stop this?  Don't you understand how insulting this is to those of us who enjoyed the movie?

Why is it that every time someone doesn't like something they simply assume they are so much smarter than every one else and anyone else who liked it has to be dumb enough to enjoy a Transformer level movie?

Or do you want to pontificate more on how the less than 2 minutes of screen time the adorable Porgs had and relate it to Jar Jar?

Well, if you expected fine art the jokes on you.  Maybe what needs to change is your perspective.

There are some valid criticism of this movie but it's not horrible and you are just flat out wrong, I mean not even close type wrong. Maybe you care too much

Okay, sure.  I didn't realize the scope of your point was just relative to Snoke, and I'm not really sure of the utility of that.  But it's all good.  I thought it was to the scene overall, which is what I was originally talking about.

This is the worst schtick in the FFA, IMO

* I hate something

* Let me tell everyone how dumb they are for liking it

* Let me tell them 65 times in case they missed the first 64 whineathons

* Oh and let me add that I will most certainly watch the next installment of this thing I hate and will let you know about it.

Enough already.  People should just say what they like and what they don't. If you hate something, why in gods name would you keep posting about unless you are some how disturbed that others might enjoy it (which then leads to the insulting commentary).

I think some people that reject the movie will appreciate it more after their next viewing.  He's obviously wrong, but hey some people are.

Attempting to mentally/physically resist what Snoke was doing to her that whole time was probably 100x more tiring than Kylo subtly shifting the blue lightsaber with the Force, to kill Snoke.

he is neither right or wrong.  It is his opinion and he is entitled to it and welcome to share it.

What he is not entitled to, IMO, is to assume that just because he did not like it, that it was total drek and anyone else that likes it has the intelligence level of enjoying a Transformer movie.

I don't know about that...I think what Ren had to do there was alter his own mind so that it tricked Snoke - since Snoke was reading his mind the entire time.  I would expect that to be pretty difficult to pull off - even with Jedi mind tricks.

It's didn't really matter what Rey did. Snoke said she is kylos equal and opposite force. Kylo has the training where she does not.

Maybe we shall see in future movies if she's able to master the power of the force in a more powerful way that blocks kylo completely.  It almost has a Voldemort vs Harry quality about it.

This is the Crux of it.

I enjoyed Star wars as a space opera. I think the reason I like Rogue one so much is because it takes place a lot in space with a big expansive battle at the end.

My gripes from this movie stem largely around how much I have to ignore in order to enjoy it. I have to start with Poe making a crank call to the military leader of the first order and having it work to stall for time. I have to bite my tongue when Leia gets spaced and then does a Force rocket man back to the ship and everyone's just like well that happened.

ButI think what annoyed me the most about this movie was that they sold us a 120 min ship chase where people can leave the battle field to go to a casino, break in to the ship that's chasing them and just basically do whatever the hell they want while "the clock is ticking"! What naval battle has people leaving on speedboats to go to land, to get help and come back to the battle before the enmy ship has over taken them?

The Kylo/Rey stuff was actually interesting but they didn't really go anywhere with it. Maybe 9.

I said Transformers because that was a popular lore with a decent fanbase that had to basically "just don't think about it" too watch the movie.

If I ignore a lot of stuff in 8 that makes no sense, it's probably a lot easier to watch (like all the space stuff and casino stuff and weird mutiny thing where Dr Sadler doesn't tell her subordinates the plan for escape).

The Force

Just the mere mention of him, makes me think something is going down. He is supposed to bring balance, what better than uniting Rey & Kylo?

Crapping out loud....and once again this movie was excellent for SW dweebs.
Is Vader really that much of a bad guy?

In terms of the force, wouldn't it be safe to say that both Snoke and the Emperor had mastered more of the Dark Side than Vader?  How did they get so strong?

Is the assumption that Vader had the potential to exploit the dark side even more - based on his force potential?

Yeah, I think both of their experiences were probably exhausting in their own way.
Something else about that scene just registered with me - Snoke said something about Kylo Ren turning the blade on his biggest nemesis - or something like that - since Snoke assumed that meant Rey - does that imply some previous history/relationship between Kylo Ren and Rey?  Or is that simply just to show that Rey is the Yin to Ren's Yang?

Who is to say, in this situation, he is a bad guy?

1.Yes. No clue

2.Yes

The Chosen One who brings balance to the Force.

Yeah, I interpreted that as him just using suggestion to harbor antipathy, but of the choices you listed, I'd go with the latter.  I would doubt there is a history, but maybe 9 will uncover more.  There is no telling.  I admit that I like the idea that Rey's parents were just average people.  Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Damn man.  Sounds like you need to start writing some screenplays so you can finally see a movie you like.

Transformers :lmao:  please GTFO with that
Maybe Transformers was too far. (Like calling someone a nazi). But I equate it to something like Suicide Squad or BvS. I watched those movies because I'm a DC fan and I tried not to think about the obvious holes in it. I left the theater enjoying them for the most part. Obviously I look at those movies now and know they aren't very good but I got some enjoyment out of it.

I'll try to watch it again and ignore the obvious holes and well anything to do with Finn. Hopefully I'll see it differently.

I was able to go see the movie by myself this morning. I enjoyed it but I can see why some didn’t like it.  It felt like it drug on some. There were some eye roll moments. Even with the negatives there were still way too many awesome moments to overshadow it.

Certainly not the best Star Wars but still enjoyable and much better than the prequels. I’d give it about an 8 out of 10.

I took it as the last part  .. Snoke saw too much light in Rey and some still in Kylo. By having Kylo kill Rey the light side would be extinguished from Kylo completely.

I enjoyed it.  Not really sure where I'd rank it yet, definitely behind Empire, ANH and Rogue One

a few cheesy moments for sure,  but I actually enjoyed the stupid Porgs.

Floating Leia was bad, Poe trolling Hux was kinda lame but kinda funny too.  That hyperspace into the destroyer was epic

Oh and I forgot her characters name but Carrie Fishers real life daughter makes my pants tight

Suicide Squad is without a doubt, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. This is nowhere near that. Not even in the same stratosphere. You're reaching here man.

I was equating to how I enjoyed it when I left while most hate it. I'm not saying 8 is that bad.

Also 2 years of waiting to find out who Snoke is and what he was capable of and they just chop him in half.  Cmon man
I was disappointed Snoke died too.  Many of the bad guys died too easily.  They went through a bunch in the prequels.  I liked the original 3 where it was just Emperor/Vader through them all.

The first trilogy mostly had Vader and some of the Emperor. This trilogy will have Kylo Ren for all three. I don’t see a huge difference other than the Emperor type character is in two instead of three movies.

Yes but think of that. They may not be important but they were pretty big #######s to leave a little girl to a junk dealer on a desert planet to never come back for her. If it wasn't for a purpose, that's pretty messed up.

Isn't it the same? The emperor wasn't in ANH, was he? So two movies each with that type of figure.
I was thinking the same thing.  There are just more bad guys in the new movies now and we see at least one die off every movie.  Maybe that's throwing people off.
