Monday Night Miracle Thread! Week 16 Championship edition. (1 Viewer)

Yes, if you have a crappy bench.  I won a championship many years ago based on my bench points.

This season I kept 2 QB's on my bench and one was Dalton who got 46 points. 🙌
Oh, I was more thinking that if you won that tiebreaker and were going up against an opponent who was your measure that you'd hate having the points on your bench and not in your starting lineup. Was thinking of a different way to look at things.

But yeah, having a strong bench, of course, equals good.

You need to hear a story.  One MNF, years and years ago, a few of us met for the game at our commish’s house.  He was up by 1 with Eddie George, the #1 fantasy weapon, yet to play and his opponent was done.   I believe this game was to get into playoffs.   Eddie fumbled in the backfield and was knocked out of the game with injury on his first carry.  Commish lost by 1.  Worst beat I’ve ever seen.  May happen for you.
Happened way back in the day in our league too (early 90s I think). Dude was in the playoffs and was down by 2, with Stan Humphries still to play. He was talking  smack all day about how he's going to take me down in the finals and whatnot. I told him he needs to score three points first. He laughed.

Long story short, second play of the game, *boom* Humphries gets smacked by the DE and is out the game. We haven't let him forget it to this day.

Yes, typically leaving points on your bench hurts your overall score. I made one mistake at QB and left 17 on the bench. Hopefully it doesnt bite me tonight.

Good luck, man. If you think you made a mistake leaving Dalton on the bench, that didn't look like so bad a move until about two to go. Depending on your league scoring and alternatives, of course. He had a thoroughly average score in my league before a lot of garbage time luck involved.

Agreed Rock. Miami had that game in the bag and the choke allowed Dalton and Boyd to pad their stats. Imagine if the Chargers would have tied the Raiders late at 24. Ekeler, Allen, and company could have gone Bengal stat crazy as well. It's basically come down to game flow and luck in this hobby.........

No, I had Tannehill and went with Rivers against the Raiders. I thought Tannehill might struggle against NO the way they shut down Indy the week before.

Dalton i thought could do OK, but never was going to start him.

Ugh.  Why did you need to tell me THAT story!  I have a 1 point lead, he is done and I have Boone and Bailey still to go.  Fumbles are -2; Missed FGs are -1.  I could bench them both but then I'd be afraid of a stat correction.  Gonna be an epic collapse if I don't win and I don't want to anger the FF gods by benching them both.  Winning a championship is never easy and I expect that even if I do get this one that I'll be forced to sweat it out for ~2 quarters.

P.S. Is this hobby addictive because it's so stressful or is the stress just an ancillary byproduct?  I tell my wife every year that I'm gonna quit.  I hate my Sunday mood swings, the way I dislike losing SO much more than I love winning; the way my players ALWAYS seem to underperform.  The fact that always having a good team means I'll experience more bad beats than I'll deliver.  But then August sucks me back in.  I love the competition, the endless search for narrow advantages, the thrill of finding a WW star, the two decade history of trash-talking, the planning for the perfect draft.  To quote George C Scott in Patton "God help me, I do love it so"

Its a brutal addiction. I love the whole process of building my draft sheet, doing all the research. Love grabbing WW gems. Hate dropping someone and making them someone else's WW gem LOL.

Gameday is stressful. It's the close decisions that kill you. Saturday I played Perriman who i got off waivers. Big plus! 15 points.

Sat Fuller and breathed a sigh of relief when he got hurt.

Sunday i was torn between Tannehill and Rivers. Overthought it and played Rivers. Cost me 17 points.

These are the things that give you an ulcer in FF.

Down 2.3 points.  I have Jones and Boone left against Amos @ DB/Harris @ DB / Hunter @ DL.

I've have 35 to 40 fantasy teams over the years.  Finished second a handful of times, but never won a championship. So if you're counting on Jones or Boone, I apologize in advance.

Need 39 from A Jones. If Jones pulls this out I would be 16-0. But as it stands Don Shula is picking out the champagne.

Im up by 23.28 pts. I have Boone playing tonight. Opponent have Diggs and D.Bailey. Im projected to win without Boone but I sure hope he gets some action tonight lol. Yahoo has my odds of winning 76%

Need Boone to stay under 3.5 points in PPR. I’ve already accepted and received a portion of my 2nd place funds. I’m happy it’s over, won’t even watch tonight, stopped watching last night in the 2nd quarter.

Now I can just watch and root for the 49ers and care about nothing else football related.
I feel your pain. Need Boone under 4.2 PPR, as my wideouts (Lockett, Miller, Slayton) combined for a whopping 3.4 points.

:ptts:

1 point PPR league, I need Boone and Adams to have a combined 48 points. If miles sanders wouldn't have slid to ice the game(the TD would have done the same thing!!), I would only need 35 points between the two players. As an eagles fan, I loved it, for my fantasy squad, not so much.

I think I have a chance. Not a very good chance, but if Minny gets up thanks to Boone and GB needs to catch up thanks to Adams.... Crazier things have happened. 🤷‍♂️

Dynasty League Championship

Boone and K Baily left.

I need 103 points to win. Or

300 Rush yards 5 Rec 50 Rec yards 6 TDs, 6 PAT a 30 yard and 40 yard FG.

It's in the bag..... I've only scored 100pts below my weekly average.

I thought a lot more people would need Boone in a situation of 5-25 points. Guess not.  Should have started Mack! :(

Good luck.  ;)

And fwiw, it'd be a shame if you got the 350 total yards and 6 TDs (with PATs) and then Bailey shanked the 30 yarder   :)

In 3 championship games; probably will win 2 of them, but alive in all 3.

First one is PPR, down 2.27 points. My opponent is done, I have Mike Boone going.

Second I’m up 14, have Davonte Adams going. My opponent has Aaron Jones. Standard scoring in this one.

Last is the one I expect to lose. PPR, down 13, and my opponent has Adam Thielen left, I have Mike Boone.

All three I had Derrick Henry and two of them Josh Jacobs, so I was left scrambling for RB help. Two of them I had Drake. I also faced the McCaffrey owner in 2 of them. All but the standard league are keeper leagues, so the waiver wire was barren, but I did have a decent amount of depth.

One league my son needs Rodgers, Boone, and theilen to not combine for negative 21 points for the title and $500.  He could bench them and lock in the win, but he’s in last place for total points by 200 points and is trying to make that look more respectable. Kid plays ff defense like nobody’s business.

I need 3 from Boone in one league and 20-30 in another.  How the f does DK take a donut 🍩 v Arizona?

Up 15 with Boone going against Jones.

Up 4 with Blake Martinez, Jaire Alexander and JK Scott against Everson Griffen.

I like my chances in only one of those scenarios.

I'd love to see updates throughout the evening from all the people that need to play catchup tonight. I was down 26.2 but opponent lost a TFL from TJ Watt so now I'm chasing 24.7.

Last week I needed 4 from Lutz to advance and that “thrill” brought me here to need even more from a 47th string RB in a game they don’t need.  This hobby smh. Self inflicted.

Boone, on Draftkings Sportsbook. 67.5 over/under yards and 13.5 receiving yards.

Seems high? Going to be a long night.

Down 5.33. Vikes run blocking is letting us Booners down big time. Hopefully there's some creativity instilled on both sidelines in the second half.

Up just over 3 in the one I needed 2.3 to win, and he's done, so I'm calling that won.

The one I was down 13 I've cut to 7.9. Thielen being shut out helps, but we'll see if that holds. Need a Boone TD for a real shot.

Standard scoring league Adams has outscored Jones by 4, so my lead up to 18 at halftime. Except for the last drive, seems like Jones and Adams trading point for point, and each lost a fumble. Still could go either way, but Adams is close to gaining a 5 point bonus (at 100 yards), which would probably put it away for me.
