My Peruviian roommate wants to go to Manolos to get some churros, which are quite good. It's an Argentinian hangout in what's also known as little Buenos Aires in the north part of Miami Beach. I think Messi has made Argentina likeable, a contrast to earlier years. In 1995, I was in a small town in Bolivia and heard cars honking- it was for the USA's unexpected 3-0 victory in the Copa America. They told me everyone in South America hates Argentina.
No churros or alfajores when I went to Manolos on north beach. They sold out. Hundreds of blue and white #10 jerseys in the celebration in the municipal parking lot next to Manolos. A few were Maradona, the rest Messi. They said he will never be worshipped in Argentina like in Barcelona. Maybe now.
