Good day for the fantasy team (though wish I had Kane as captain instead of Sterling).  12 guys through to next round (really 11 with the one injury) so should have a full slate for the semis and at the very very least 9 guys in the final (15 if England come through in the semi)

I have not seen the odds yet, but I assume England are favored to win, mostly on the easier SF draw, and playing both games in London.  
 

I think the Italy v Spain winner would be a slight favorite at a neutral site. But, have to give England credit for the defensive organization and set-up. That’s how you grind out wins in a tournament. 

 
It gets better for England:

Current travel regulations mean travellers from #DEN  to #ENG  must quarantine for 10 days upon arrival. So no Denmark fans (other than UK residents) in semi-final or potential final.

(This also applies to Italy and Spain. But UEFA vip’s will be exempted from travel restrictions.)

This may not be a popular opinion in England or on here but I think Southgate has done really well.  He’ll get grief if they lose to Denmark at home in the semis but for me he’s done the job.  Tweaked the team and formation - set them up for success and they’ve yet to concede and the attack has improved almost every game.

Denmark is a helluva team and they are playing great without their best player.  I could see it go either way but think England have a little too much for them.  I think he will go back to 3-4-3 but maybe he will surprise me.  Denmark will be the best side they’ve played so far so he will want to play a little cautious.

Should be two great semifinals.

all well and good, but in the purely betting ecosystem of this final four, they're handled properly on the odds line, imo ... having to beat England at Wembley, then the Italy/Spain survivor - Herculian task, and the +900 is a move by the book to entice action on them ... plenty of punters will toss the odd 10 or 20 spot their way, and i'm sure there'll be quite a few more adventerous plunkers wagering even heavier. 

they will take action, which is the logical gist of setting the wager point as such. 

ETA: they are +400 to lose the final, -300 to lose the semi.

My book currently has Italy as the faves.  It's gotta be pretty close though.  If England and Italy get through than I'm assuming Italy would be favoured, but England has a much easier path to the title.

from a betting perspective, the poitive factors with the English side dictate favoritism at this point ... setting Italy as the favorites, pre-semis, is a leap - they are favored to get through to the final, and have been the talk of tourney ... until England started gaining steam.

at this point they (Italy) are the better value, but, still ... they have their hands full with Spain first, and will be without Spinazzola - now, i think they are a resilient enough side to still back seriously, and i am rooting for them (Cugini here 🇮🇹), but England deserves top odds.  

me? i'll take the plunge on 'em - better to grab 'em now then at +140ish in a potential final match vs England.

Ya my odds updated with England now the faves.  I do think a lot of it has to do with the road to the final like you say.

Obviously a lot depends how both teams look in the semi's, but if both get through, I'd imagine it to be almost a dead even betting odds in the final.

we have what we call "bridge jumpers" in the horse racing world ... these are bettors who slam a ton of money on the prohib fave to show (3rd place money, even if it wins), thereby guaranteeing them 10 cents per every $2 wagered ... e.g. a $1,000 show bet returns $50, etc - considered by many fools as a "sure thing", because the BEST horse in the tace can't help but at least finish third, amirite?

they're called "bridge jumpers" because of the propensity for this bet to be an absolute destroyer of bankrolls if the horse runs outta the money, hence leaving the poor bastid feeling like their only alternative is to go jump off the nearest bridge for blowing Jrs. college fund on some bullring nag who couldn't hit the board. 

we have a similar situation brewing here with England ... they are currently +150 to win the final, +175 to lose it - now, one can hedge prior to the Denmark match on these numbers ... if a punter chucked $500 on the win end, they'll collect $1250 - they can hedge on the other end, and toss another $500 on England to lose the final, which would return $1375. 

so, $1000 combined wagered on both ends, with a gurantee of at least $250 profit - all providing they get by Denmark, of course. 

this is footy bridge jumping 101 ⚽️  if the Danes pull off that upset, the books are gonna clean the mutha #### up, and London Bridge will be awfully crowded.

Rant from someone who only really enjoys the international level of competition. Why don’t they seed the knockout rounds better? England’s path to the Final is an absolute joke compared to teams like Belgium or Italy. And they only had to play one game outside of England the whole time?  Is this level of competition as corrupt as FIFA?

The group stage is seeded.  Knockout opponents are determined by group stage results, so there is some luck involved perhaps, depending on how the groups shake out, but no need to re-seed the tournament.  For me, this is the same as the NCAA bracket.  Some years, due to upsets or injuries, a team makes the sweet 16 and it looks like they have an easy path to the final 4, but that doesn't mean they should re-seed the whole tournament after 2 rounds.

England were fortunate to play the group stage games in London.  Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark and Spain also played all 3 group stage games at home.  London was chosen to host this year's semifinals and final back in 2014.  Sure, England benefit from being awarded these games, just as France played all its games at home in the 2016 Euro and Germany will host the 2024 Euro.  There's no question UEFA is corrupt, but I don't see how this circumstance is evidence of that.

The problem is that FIFA rankings are typically a lagging indicator not a leading one.

This was even more exasperated with covid significantly reducing the amount of games which caused the rankings to be more stagnant that usual.  The rankings are based on formulas that use game results as they are not derived by a committee of humans voting, like in the NCAA.  With the significantly reduced games, the rankings did not change as they would have in a non covid environment.

As mentioned above, UEFA's corruption is legendary in the sporting world but that corruption had nothing to with what is transpiring now.

You are overthinking this.  If Spain had won their group and Germany didn’t crap the bed in qualifying the round of 16 and quarterfinals look different.  Also, that red card against Netherlands just sucked - not saying it wasn’t deserved but they would have won IMO if there’s no red.  
 

Quarters would have been:

Italy/Belgium 

France/Switzerland 

Spain/England

Netherlands/Denmark

- nothing wrong with that at all.

Looking forward to this one.  I don't think either side will feel like they are favored.

Italy has been on the top of their game since G1, but they will miss Spinazzola, and could be susceptible to pacy play from Spain against the aging CBs.  Spain, have a good team, on paper, but the finishing has been a bit suspect.

I think this will be a relatively dull affair - with both teams being a bit more conservative than they have in previous games..  I like Italy with a late winner, but, like you, would not be surprised to see Spain pull off the win.

I agree with all this except it being dull. I think Italy comes out really aggressive and tries to get an early lead. If they do, then I think they will hunker down more than they have up to now.
