🇪🇺 ⚽ EURO 2020 ⚽ 🇪🇺 People are saying THIS is the new greatest moment in sports history (2 Viewers)

Lol, it sure is...
Well it is clearly the longest of long shots but I could make a VERY strong argument that the US has the best collection of U23 talent outside of the two big regions, so if any one is poised to do the impossible, the US is as well situated as any other country.

Great effing game.  Though the guy who left his car alarm on all game long - please for the love turn it off for tomorrow!

I thought the 16 team Euro was stronger than a 32 team WC.

Currently I think a 32 team WC is stronger/more enjoyable than a 24 team Euro.

The Euro's might be technically better but the tournament is dying for just a little color and flair and some of the zaniness the other countries can bring.

That being said, a 24 team Euro is almost certainly going to be better than the 48 team abomination greedy FIFA came up with for 2026.  I really hope that is a one and done but I fear it won't be.
It'll be one and done...then they'll go to 56 teams...

At some point, you think an exception will take place, but the reality is that the World Cup has been won by a UEFA (12) or CONMEBOL (9) team since it started over 90 years ago.  In fact, the final match has only been made up of countries from those 2 confederations.  For CONMEBOL, it's been either Brazil, Argentina, or Uruguay.  At least Europe has been more varied.

It's crazy to think the US might be the first team to break that streak.

When you expand to 48 teams, it's going to make some matches difficult to watch.
So many of those 3rd games in the groups are going to be go along to get along games - terrible.

Early scuttlebutt (hehe "butt") is that Saka will be back in to replace Sancho, but otherwise an unchanged line-up for England.

as much as I have disagreed with Southgate's lineups (no Sancho, Mount over Graelish/Foden/Jude, Sterling), its hard to argue when they haven't lost, are in the semis and conceded 0 goals.

#ENG White, Chilwell and Calvert-Lewin not in the 23

A little surprising about DCL - seems like a guy you might want on if you were chasing a goal late, and putting lots of balls into the box.

Kasper with the “was it ever here?” Reply to the question of what he thought about the “it’s coming home” line everyone hates from England.

love it
Of course, there is another clip where Kasper is asked about being the goal keeper who has given up the most goals to Kane, and Hojbjerg, who was next to Kasper, turned and laughed...

No strong confidence in a result for England today but they’ve played really well for most of the tournament - if they lose today I’m thinking it will be because of an inspired Denmark performance and not a scared England one.

My prediction*:  3-0 England

England will score relatively early, and hold on to a 1-0 HT lead.

2nd goal will come around the 70' mark.

3rd will be 85'+ to put the game completely out of reach.

* I am usually pretty bad at this.
