⚽ EPL 2020-21 Fantasy League ⚽ Congrats McBokononon on the title! (2 Viewers)

I chose Che Adams.  Immediately sent Christo an offer with my two next picks so I could jump on the rumors.

Just gives me another reason to hope this absurd travesty doesn't happen.
I think it would be a bad move for Messi to go to the PL.

First, there are no teams that can guarantee him a trophy, even with him in the squad.

Second, one slightly mis-timed tackle from Mark Noble (Insert your own hack here) and his career is done.  PL is just so physical, it seems like an odd place to finish out his career.

I think he is better off going to PSG or maybe even Bayern (and he can trade shirts with Davies) or an Italian club.

Oh, that was me...

And, I sent a message to Joe expressing my displeasure...I don't mind a punishment if I do something inappropriate - shame on me.  But in this case - there is no shame on me.
That av should bring you plenty of shame.

The thought of City getting him really angers me.  I've said all I can say today :lmao:

meh.  City are pretty good without him, I am not sure the marginal difference makes them much better.

I still see this as a two and half horse race, with Liverpool and City still a bit ahead of Chelsea.  Man United are a little bit behind, and then Spurs, Wolves, Arsenal and Leicester (in no particular order).

I agree with this. Still, I have become convinced that the only way a team with current Messi can be successful at a high level is to be deployed as a false 9 with 2 other forwards that have the pace to play wide and come inside to occupy centerbacks. He really hasn't been set up in that role since Pep left Barcelona (which got really weird at the end with Danny Alves deployed as a forward), but I think it could be interesting with a Sterling-Messi-Jesus line.

One of the (many) rumors had City sending Jesus + Mahrez + 💰 to Barça in exchange for Messi - which would still leave City with: Sterling-Messi-Aguero
Messi and Aguero have had so much success together with Argentina, seems like a good thing to recreate. They have always wanted to play together though.

As much as this entire thing is sad and frustrating, I must say a Griezmann-Jesus-Dembele front line for Barcelona would not be a bad consolation prize....

RE: Messi,

I wonder, if a City deal doesn't pan out, could he go to Leeds to play for Bielsa? They'd likely have to give him an ownership stake of the team to afford him, and I'm not sure if they're allowed to do that. Still, it'd be awesome to see him under Bielsa; he'd have no real pressure on him--get them into Top 7 or 8 and it'd still be a feather in his cap. Probably too old for EPL, though.

I just accepted a trade from @shader a while ago, but I don't see him here.

Trade offer:

Shader gets 8.11 and 12.11

Kumerica gets 9.13 and 10.2

I'd re-up my season ticket if he went to QPR.

Thanks, I'll take James Rodriguez, Everton.  See you guys next week

Now seems like a good time to remind people that I am placing a "placeholder" on your roster for non-league players.  If you drop the placeholder, you are dropping the player you drafted.

There is a tab on the spreadsheet tracking these players.  If any of them sign with a PL team, I will replace them on your rosters.

Current list:

.........            Team   .......... Player .......   Replacement
3    .    10    Sinn/Gator    Kai Havertz    Billy Gilmour
7    .    2    Bonzai    Thiago Alcantara    Harvey Elliott
7    .    5    Tlef    Jadon Sancho    James Garner
8    .    7    Christo    Thiago Silva    Matt Miazga
8    .    8    Cheese    Lionel Messi    Dane Scarlett
8    .    11    Shader    James Rodriguez    Beni Baningime

A cursory look back at the last 2 years - we draft 13 non-league players each year, with a total of 15 of 26 signing with PL teams.

Well, if you believe the rumors (and who doesn't believe rumors?) - this could be a triple whammy - Cheese gets a windfall in round 8, while @McBokonon and @Bonzai both lose a round 2 pick...

But, as I told Bluto - someday, its going to be a funny story to tell - we could have drafted Messi, but we opted for Højbjerg instead....
It also might bring KDB back to the pack a little bit.

How did you count Bruno Fernandes last year? I took him but dropped him after he missed the early deadline but then couldn't grab him in the winter window.

Nah - we can wait.

@Moe. Appreciate the gesture, but we are moving along quickly enough, and now everyone can go scour twitter for the latest rumors...

@McBokonon - can you text him back that we will wait - and that its not a problem.

Thanks!

Sorry back to back meetings and they always run long. I have no clue who I want, in about 15 minutes I’ll be able to research and post.

I have no idea how to interpret the like on my previous post. Guessing that’s confirmation it is - if so I want Ashley Westwood and Jordan Ayew
