watch it again.

this time be aware that there's a guy with a red shirt on doing filthy things with the ball.
Not to mention, in real time, it wasn't nearly as egregious.  Plus, he's in the box and with that many defenders around, no one is risking giving up a penalty.

Watching it in slo-mo - I was fascinated that through all the tip-toeing through the defense, he only used his right foot on the ball once - the cut-back.  Every other touch was with the left foot - and still he was able to maneuver through the defenders.

I was expecting to see at least a little touch here or there from his right foot to create the change of direction - but he did it all with the left.  Impressive.

I get that.  But for everything Mo did, that guy had to affirmatively dive in and take himself out of the play contra-goal wise to open up some of that space.  You have to  be patient in that situation.

I just watched this again in normal time, and it's still inexplicable.  Bottle blonde just takes a swipe at the ball, misses,  and then says "#### it, guess I'll go cover the cut-back."

Mo is incredible, but that was scandalous from a team defense perspective.

I’m excited to hear what the new excuses for Ole will be.
None.  No excuses.  That was so bad.

oh totally. this thread moves a mile a minute... don't won't to miss any Liverpool info or Manchester United 3 days later chat.
Glad I can help.

I get rushing back Maguire with Verane out.  What I don't get is not having the sack to yank him off at HT when he clearly wasn't ready to play.  Mr Left Foot Only Matic too.  Absolutely poor management there.  And while he was at it, get Ronaldo off the field too. All 3 were worthless in that game.  Why have a bench and depth if you don't trust them?

I can't wait for a Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho front 3.

I assumed Arsenal v. CP would be on NBCSN today since it is the only game being played.  I assumed wrong.

Peacock can suck my Peacock.

Venezia went up 1-0... somebody played a lovely through ball to a forward who drew the GK and slotted it square to a runner for an easy tap-in.

it was Busio. (eta: with the lovely through ball)

and he had another lovely chip in to a teammate that should/couldv'e been a goal

Rules question.

So, I know there's no offside in your own half. However, if you are over the halfway line in an offside position when a ball is played (say from the GK), and you come back over the halfway line to receive it, are you still offside?

Yes, its based on when the ball is played forward

Unless its a goal kick.

I recently learned that you can not be off on a corner kick either.
This one is just an extension of a more general rule:  you're not offside if you're behind the ball.  And when the ball is on the touch line everyone is behind it.

No offside on any goal kick (or throw in). But it has to go directly the player that is "offside", obviously.
knew the throw in... and now that I think about it- I knew about the goal kicks too, but like with so many things lately didn't remember. I remember when playing, pushing as high up the field as possible to draw the defender deeper into their own half to cover me.

VAR about to determine if FIO gets a second red- GK took out a player on the breakawy... looks like it was called back as offsides.

VEN defending their 1-0 lead SO poorly these last 10 minutes. for some reason, sitting all the players back.. and absorbing a ton of pressure, giving up a ton of corner kicks and free kicks. so stupid with a man advantage.

Sure, but  you guys do realize you physically can be in an offside position on a corner right?

If you are on the endline and the taker puts the ball on the upfield side of the arc, no defenders or keeper on the endline...
He can touch it forward to a player in an offside position.

Just looking ahead to Man United's schedule - can OGS afford to go 1-0-2?

Home to Liverpool

Away to Spurs

Home to City

International Break

There are a couple of CL matches against Atalanta thrown in the mix - but that is a tough stretch, when the pressure is already on OGS.  Assuming they beat Spurs - can he afford to lose to both Liverpool and City at home?

No, he can not.  Had he beaten Everton and Leicester then maybe they could absorb the losses with a good showing.  At this point he can not afford to lose.  He's down in 6th with Spurs and Brighton above him.  A loss to LP puts them 7 up, city 6 up and probably means a race for 4th is all they have.

Ole has done a lot of good in getting the team back on the right track with recruitment and club direction.  On field results have to follow.

Not involved in the play even though HE HAD TO JUMP OVER THE BALL as it's on the way into the net.  This rule is going to kill me.

OMG -- I'm pretty sure the first AM player on the free kick DUMMIES THE BALL FROM FIVE YARDS OFF and wasn't flagged for offside.  (Think it was the two runners they called it on.)

RBL look organized and fairly comfortable against PSG... kudos to Marsch for a smart game-plan so far. of course, PSG ...

Messi and Mbappe combine to make it 2-2.

was going to say- of course PSG with those players can bust through on anybody at any moment.

I hate Atletico so much.  If the Guatemalan National Team and Catenaccio had a baby it would be born with red and white stripes and have the face of Diego Costa.
