10 team league w/ 2 QBs (1 Viewer)

My league is expanding from 8 to 10 teams but the owners want to keep it a 2 starting QB league. I have concerns about QB depth. Ideally, it would be wise for a team to carry 4 QBs to cover BYEs as well as in case of injuries. I foresee the QB depth issue causing a run on QBs where some teams may hoard QBs to give themselves an advantage over those who are QB-deficient. I was thinking about flexing one of the QB positions so that those who don't have adequate QB depth for BYEs or injuries can still compete. is this a good idea or is it unecessary?

I think you flex the position. There will still be an advantage to hoarding QBs, but nobody will have to take a goose egg at QB2 b/c byes+injuries don't work out.

definitely flex it out. in two of my leagues we start 1, 2, 2, 1, a defense and 1 flex of every position. it allows for injuries and also make it a little challenging as to whether to start 2 qbs or 3 rbs.

Or allow a team with a BYE QB on the bench to double the points from their starter. Not my personal preference, but it does work.

Given that 2 weeks of the regular season have 6 teams off this year, that leaves only 26 viable choices.

Is it interesting? Sure.

Does it promote trades? Sure. (You better have good trading and friendly rules for it - quick approvals, lineups decisions, etc.)

The "superflex" of allowing a QB to be inserted as a flex (a.k.a. flex QB/RB/WR/TE spot) works well and encourages the 2 QBs if and only if your scoring favors QBs. Otherwise you may want to allow for teams to use two "exemptions" to their roster and use a RB/WR/TE for a QB on QB bye weeks (but only used twice - otherwise a trade may skew this).

Enjoy.
