12 Monkeys TV Series (SyFy) (1 Viewer)

Renewed for second season:

Syfy’s 12 Monkeys adaptation has been renewed for a second season, EW has learned.

Inspired by the 1995 film, the series stars Aaron Stanford as Cole, a time traveler from a decimated future, who journeys back to present day in a bid to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will pretty much annihilate the human race.

The drama, which also stars Amanda Schull as a present-day virologist helping Cole, debuted in January to 1.35 million viewers and a 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic. Though its ratings have dropped in subsequent weeks, the series consistently sees a lift in L3 viewership.

“We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned,” said Syfy President Dave Howe. “The talent both on and off-screen have delivered a series that has us all on the edge of our seats, providing exactly the smart, exciting storytelling Syfy is known for.”

The second season, which is expected to air in 2016, will see showrunner Natalie Chaidez step down in order to prep her own Syfy series, Hunters, so co-executive producers and writers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett will step up to serve as executive producers and showrunners.

12 Monkeys airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.

Caught back up again.

Still enjoying it. Though I like all the wrinkles happening with the timeline, I'm a bit worried that is going to get old before too long at the rate they are doing them. I wonder if they couldn't have found other things to do along the way that would have let them unspool that aspect of the plot at half or even a third the speed they are now. Now it's like most every episode reveals another timeline twist.

Probably because they didn't know if they would go more than one season when they filmed it.

I always though Lost would have been a better one season show. It fell apart once they announced a second season.

Have been watching all along but thought I would start from the beginning with my 10yr old - he is into Sci Fi and we were talking the other day about time travel. So we watched the first three episodes on Saturday. First scene of first episode made me do a double take. Year is 2043 I think. Cole is in the CDC walking around and stops next to a skeletal body in a white lab coat. He bends down, picks up the arm/wrist and says "see you soon" - on the wrist is Dr. Railey's watch. I guess I never made the connection before. But then I recall her in another episode in the CDC saying something like it was weird to be in the place she is going to die.

Anyway, she is hot (sorry I don't know how to embed the link behind text). http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0776040/?ref_=tt_cl_t2

Season one finale tonight. I liked the penultimate episode, and the series has grown on me since wacthing the first few episodes, where I had doubts about hangin in. I'm 99% sure it has been picked up for a second season, and will definitely continue to follow it, now that I'm somewhat invested in the story, and to see how they resolve the timelines. I could see this lasting for more than two seasons.

Yes, interesting ending. Worried the albino scaly guys may end up being over the top, but looking forward to seeing where it goes next season.

Separated at birth from hooded mutant albino scaly guy extras from 12 Monkeys:

The hooded costume seems to be sartorial de rigueur for mutant albinos.

They kind of go together like peanut butter and jelly.

so far so good. I just hope they don't muck it up with extra story lines. I like the premise of going back in time to figure out where the virus came from and to track down the 12 monkeys. I don't want them to muck it up with the gang in the forest trying to get inside and/or kill the team trying to go back in time. I'll keep watching because it is entertaining and I like (to look at) the female lead.
I was wrong. They didn't muck it up. Good episode. Liked how when future Cole saw other Cole he hid a little so they wouldn't see each other and mess up their/his timeline.

I guess the thing to keep in mind is that every time travel back can change the future. Like saving Ramsey. In one future he is dead, but Cole goes back and things change.

Just realized that maybe I should put a spoiler tag on some comements. But I figure anyone reading this topic has probably already watched the episode. If someone thinks we should start using spoiler tags let me know.

Still need to see much more of the blond chick.
The first time, when Cole hears Ramsey getting shot, do we know for sure that he's hearing Ramsey getting shot? It's late and my brain hurts, but is there a chance that he's actually hearing himself shooting the other soldiers on the walkie-talkie? I forgot how the time-jump happened there.
This is exactly what happened. As soon as they didn't show Ramse getting shot on camera, I knew something else had happened.

Tom Noonan (tall, pale, creepy villain dude) was also the tall, pale, creepy, axe-wielding serial killer in Last Action Hero. But I remember him most as Francis "Tooth Fairy" Dolarhyde, tall, pale, creepy (seems to be as typecast as the cast of Gilligan's Island :) ) serial killer in Michael Mann's excellent Manhunter, prequel to Silence of the Lambs.
He was also a tall, pale, creepy serial killer in Blacklist.

Season two premier on the Syfy site for those that missed it and would like to catch up before the second episode (Monday night)?

Liking this season more than the previous one.

Last episode - "Try and and not shoot anybody in the face on the way out."

Pesky trip wired booby traps.

*Somewhat surprised the fourth word eluded the language filter. :)

Episode eight (Lullaby) reminiscent of the Tom Cruise movie, Edge of Tomorrow (Live. Die. Repeat.), where they keep hitting the reset button on the timeline.

In an unexpected twist, the arch villains pulling the strings all along are three time travelling sets of the 60's rock group The Monkees (thus 12 Monkeys). In retrospect, the below excerpted lyric from their catchy theme song should have been a giveaway:

We go where in time we want to
Do what we like to do
We just keep killing primaries
Hoping to destroy time

Renewed for season 3.

http://tvline.com/2016/06/29/12-monkeys-renewed-season-3-syfy/

Time will continue to twist for 12 Monkeys: Syfy has renewed the time-travel drama for a third season, EW.com reports.

Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes. In a quote to the site, executive producer Terry Matalas called Season 3 “even more twisty and emotional” than what has come before in the series, which is based on the 1995 Bruce Willis movie.

Tonight's episode was awesome.  I haven't been that intrigued by a TV show in a while.  Major drama and gore.

I have some thoughts but don't know how to do spoiler tags on mobile, so I'll post tomorrow.

By the way, I love this show.  I think this may be the best show no one is talking about.  I'm a sucker for time-travel movies, and 12 monkeys has a completely novel spin on how time works.

I agree I thought last night was great TV.

Is next week the series or season finale?

For some reason I thought 2 weeks ago was the season finale and next season was going to be about getting to Titan and '57.

They already had to create the wacky destroy time thing to keep it going for Season 2.  Season 3 will likely fall off a cliff.

Maybe even the time travel scientist, or the brunette? They are the five principals of the show.

We earlier saw (at least through Cassie's interaction/perspective) the Witness is a shape shifter, and can assume different forms.

* Next week is the finale.

Surprised at all the positive feedback on that show. Everyone either died or failed (again). If Cole is the hope of humanity, it is screwed. Those two can't do one single thing successfully. Unless next week does something to redeem itself, I doubt we'll worry about season three.

No way they're all dead.  Something Cole will do will reset everything that happened the past couple episodes.

So, Cole is the Witness?  That was my take.
Cole or Cassie would be where the writers are taking us, but there would have to be quite a lot of work in this last episode to get either character there.  Right now it would be a giant leap.

Yea, that's one of the weaknesses of a time manipulation show. You can write all kinds of stupid stuff then just undo it later.

Wow. Horrible. Wife and I sort of looked at each other and shook our head. It'll be back in 2017. We won't. Another show with an interesting premise that just totally went off the rails.

Only watched the first two minutes, but Madeleine Stowe has at least a cameo, she was in the Terry Gilliam movie (itself an adaptation of a Chris Marker short "film" - an assemblage of stills with narration and a score).

I'm a sucker for time travel stuff so I'll be back, but lately the show has been background filler while I'm doing something else.  It's getting to the "come on, wrap it up" point with me.

She is from the Revenge show that ended awhile back. It was a bit more than a cameo for her I suppose. But doesn't seem she'll be a regular character.

Yeah, same here for me.  Not as involved as I was during the 1st season, but i'm dedicated and it hasn't #### it pants like Helix did.

I like that stuff too. But what I can't take is the stupid.

Mystery Lady That Can Slow Time: Whatever you do, when you go back, don't go to Titan. It will mean the end of the world.

Bzzzzzzzztttttttt, time travel.

Cole: Let's get to Titan ASAP!

As I said earlier, if he is the hope of the human race, it's game over man!

Exactly.  This show looks like the runners didn't expect it to go on this long, so they're not real sure what the end game is.  Continuum seemed to hit a wall like that in it's second season but picked up steam near the end.  'Monkeys' needs to say ok, the next season is it, and we're resolving this MFer so hold onto your hats.
