2008 $35,000 Subscriber Contest (1 Viewer)

I've been very happy with my team's consistency so far. Only one week below 150, and five out of seven weeks above 170.

I'm avg. 175 a week but this week I'm actually concerned. No Marshall or Driver. I need S. Jax to play big if he's healthy.
It's you!!I was looking at the handful of teams with SJax/TJones left.. yours was the one I thought looked the best..

my scoring avg 174.74

I'm amazed I made it through this week. With all of the players I had on bye I needed those playing to contribute. That's pretty amazing contribution. Especially from my lone qb NECKBEARD

I thought they were good value. I rode Ben, FWP and the Steeler D to a 7th place finish last year. :goodposting:

Cool...made the top 10 in WR scoring! Gotta put a string together to see if I can crack the top 10 overall. I think I would have been in or close until this week.

I can actually do the overall scoring list for the contest myself pretty easily(I have it for the first few weeks, but haven't kept it updated), but individual can only be done with everyone's full rosters. The ones that were released into the FS database could be done, but that of course isn't everyone.

This will be my first week without Greg Jennings. He's counted in all 7 weeks. Who else has a guy that's scored in every week he's been available? Curious as to how common it is.

I have three players that have counted every week they've played: Drew Brees, Tony Gonzalez and Steve Smith (Car)

Wow, 3 guys, that seems like a lot. Gotta discount Smith a little tho, since he was suspended for 2 games, no telling whether he would've counted. Still...

Cooley's the only one for me
Clinton Portis has scored in all 7 weeks for me...my avg output per weekQB - Brees, Warner & Ryan (ryan has yet to score) - 28.99RB - Portis, Grant, R. Williams, Bradhaw & Slaton - 18.93 (for both)WR - TO, Cotch, S. Smith (Car), Gaffney, Ja. Jones (GB), Northcutt - 42.64TE - Winslow, Fasano & Keller - 12.83K - Nedney, Lindell & Hanson - 13.86DEF - GB & Buffalo - 11.71Flex - guys that have scored as flex (R. Williams, Winslow, Keller (2), Gaffney, Grant & Slaton) - 11.36Total avg per week - 159.64add it all up, not sure what it means, but hopefully, I carry the next 3 weeks (Week 8 no Grant, J. Jones or GB D, Week 9 no Brees, S. Smith or Nedney and week 10 no Portis or TO)... hopefully Winslow comes back and produces after this week, I need him to come up bigtime

It's going to be tough for me this week. Romo and Shockey probably won't play due to injury.

Then, I have my three best players on bye, Peterson, Marshall and Jennings, plus the Minn D.

I don't know if I have the depth to cover that. I need big days out of Warner or Delhomme, Cotchery, Devery Henderson, NJ Jets TEs (Baker and/or Keller). It also wouldn't hurt for McFadden to bust out this week, but that seems particularly unlikely against Baltimore. I may need the 'owned by almost everybody" trio of Slaton, R. Williams and R. Rice to come up huge this week, so at least I don't lose ground at the RB slot.

I fear this may be my last week, but if somehow I scrape by, I like my chances after that.

I've been extremely lucky with the injury bug to this point, which made up for some poor choices in the cheap WR department (Hagan and Jacoby). My significant bye week issues are over (2 each for the next 3 weeks with TO and Jennings and JStewart being the big names out).At this point, I just need to get out every week and motivate the troops to perform! :football:

A WR or RB would be rare, but my kicker (Gould) has started for me each week.

I made a last minute kicker change to my roster. And, while I really like both of my kickers (Prater/Gould), wouldn't you know they have the same bye week in Week 8.

At least they are my only two bye players....I've been well above the 11-12 pts I've gotten from the K position each week, so hopefully I'll get through this one.

This will be my first week without Greg Jennings. He's counted in all 7 weeks. Who else has a guy that's scored in every week he's been available? Curious as to how common it is.
14 kicker guy has 8 players who counted for him every week.Marshall is the only player who counted for me every week including his 5.5 effort in week 5. :confused:I'm happy with Warner on my team, but he only counted for me 1 week and neckbeard helped me twice.

Ouch! Dropped to 203! Unfortunately, the Bush and Romo injuries, along with whatever is going on with Staph-man has seriously handicapped me. I went from feeling comfortable that I was going to make a strong finals run to just hoping to make it by every week. If I do make it into the finals, my team should have become even more unique at my power positions, but I really need my fill in players to step up in the mean time!

Thanks for the power rankings DD.

Reading the intro to the power rk it sounds like they are based on proj pts for the rest of the year.

Do they in any way factor in the weekly risk for remaining bye weeks?

i.e. would an otherwise strong power team be ranked lower if it has 3-4 high sal wk10 byes?

lol Guess I should've limited it to only teams who actually drafted potential backups.

Just curious.. On the fantasystar site, there are numbers in the Wk8 column... Are those projected scores based on FBG rankings or something?

They're the Week 2 numbers. Don't know why they're getting picked up in Week 8, but I assume OC will take care of it.

Giddyap!

I'm happy to be in 4th place in the power rankings, but I realize it doesn't mean anything. The guy in 3,999th place could win it all, and one bad week and we in the top 10 can be eliminated. I'll start paying attention to the power rankings come week 13 if I'm still alive.

The weekly Lineup Dominator predictions vs reality comparisons:

Dodds: 125.8

2nd Opinion: 131.2

Reality: ??

BTW, this is not me trying to challenge the site's integrity or anything, I just find it interesting. I have to do something til the games start.

Any chance we can "name" our entry number, instead of just being a number?

This feature was hinted at in the preseason... even last year searching by names didn't seem so bad.

Hey Doug,DO the power rankings address injuries? Specifically the fact that Romo has now said that he will not play until week 11?
Since my ranking dropped from the 30's to the 600's when Romo got hurt (and only back up to the 400's this week), I'd say it's a pretty good bet they do... not that there's an "injury factor" per se, but the injury drops Romo's value in the Top 250, which is what Doug uses to calculate each team's positional strength rating.

i think it'd be pretty cool if it did fill those out with projections.

After the first week I started off in the 4000's in the power rankings.

The past rankings have me in the 1000's.

I guess if I'm moving up every week that's a good thing.

I don't think any of this matters though. What matters is if your team gets hot during the playoffs and if you make it to the playoffs...

Since we know that teams who have 3 QB's, 6 RB's, 7 WR's, 2 TE's, 2 K's, or 2 D's advance at a higher rate, it would seem that the weights in the power rankings should be carried to these levels. In other words, maybe WR's should receive a weight of '1' through the 7th WR, instead of through only the 3rd. After that, start decreasing the weights. The teams near the top of the rankings seem to reflect the weights (they follow the general pattern of 1 high $ QB, RB's, 3 WR's, 1 TE and a lot of players at $1 or $2). While in a normal league this may be optimum, in a best ball, it may be better to have 7 medium $ WR's.It may at least be interesting to see.

As I mentioned previously, it's really easy to do in Lineup Dominator. I'm actually kind of surprised that more people haven't entered their teams and posted their predicted scores. It could be like subscribers contest Tecmo Bowl.

but if that's the reason why he's moving up, then the ones being cut are not from the bottom of the power rankings, but rather equally distributed amond the power rankings, meaning their predicitive accuracy isn't very high in the 1st place.
