So lemme ask a question...

Once you pick your team, you dont touch it all season correct? Its "set it and forget it" right?

BTW, it would make it a lot more user friendly if the bye weeks were listed on the selection page.
REALLY :goodposting:
Honestly, my guess is that if you're even thinking about bye weeks, then our putting the bye weeks on the entry form would decrease your chance of winning.

I couldn't disagree more. You have to consider bye weeks in a survival contest like this. If I'm only going to carry a limited number in a certain position (K, TE, DEF) I need to make sure that bye weeks don't conflict. And to a lesser extent that's still true for QBs, RBs and WRs.

:bag: Not to mention you don't want your top QB, RB and WR all on a bye in a week, especially if it's beyond week 6 where the cuts become tight.

There's more than one way to interpret Doug's comment. I interpreted it differently. i'm just sayin..

He means that it'll make it easier for the people who don't look at bye weeks to correct their roster, thus making it more competitive.

I think what Drinen was saying is that there are probably a ton of people who don't even consider bye weeks when they submit their teams, so by adding it to the page it would bring that little oversight to their attention, thus decreasing your chances (because you *did* think of bye weeks). It's worth the extra few mins to figure out the bye weeks on your own if it eliminates a couple hundred, or even a thousand people, who didn't bother.

I see what you are saying.

Yes, sorry to be so cryptic.

I meant that putting byes on the form would seriously decrease the number of people who don't give them consideration. And, if you think byes are indeed important, that would hurt your chances.

Back and ready again to field another team! We'll see if I can manage to cash 3 years in a row...dooh...probably shouldn't have said that...

Who is the one or two players that you think will be on EVERYBODY's roster as perceived great value picks?

I think RB - Ricky Williams - $8

and WR - D Hagan - $4

Will be on a lot of rosters...

Though I don't see anything of obvious value like A Peterson $23 and W Welker $3 from last year (or something about those values if I remember correctly).

Wow... I forgot I even made the final 250 last year... 7 points short from atleast getting some cash. That was with 120 points wrapped up in a really bad group of RB's... Bush, Jacobs, Caddy Williams, Brandon Jackson, Foster... I was lucky to have 2 that played each week and they nearly cost half my roster... :kicksrock:

really cool contest guys. I just can't stop crunching numbers :towelwave:
It is an interesting contest with many different strategies. I think they make up the list too soon. There are many interesting prospects out there who are not even on this list (Farve is not on the list for instance), and there are a few unbelievable values that will be on everyone's rooster. If they made up the list about two weeks before the season, it would give people a decent chance to make their picks and do adjustments. But I guess it is kind of fun to get those unbelievable values.

For the folks that can only access the forums at work, can anyone let me know how many at each position "start"/you get points from each week?

Is there any requirements on the number at each position that you pick? (if you only want to pick 1 K is that allowed? If you want to have 6 QBs, is that allowed?)

22 players and $250 cap, right?

TIA

I'm torn between whether they make up the list too soon or not. On one hand some "impact" players get exlcuded, e.g. Favre, C. Perry, but on the other hand it really helps pass the time between the beginning of the preseason and the start of the regular season. Has anyone else felt like their hasn't been that incredible value player as there has been in years past (ie Frank Gore a couple years ago). I see one that will probably be on most rosters and another that could possibly be on a vast majority (right now I don't have him) but I feel like this season all these "values" still have a huge amount of question marks and uncertainty surrending them.

StartQB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE) 1 K 1 DEFI believe these are the minimums at the positions as well. And yes 22 players 250 cap

why do people post their rosters before this thing is closed?
Yeah, no kidding. I'm not delusional enough to think my roster is awesome. But no way do I want my cheaper sleeper picks to help someone fine tune their roster.
Your cheaper sleeper picks will be on 70% of the rosters regardless.
Yeah but why go out of your way to make it 80%?
Impossible. At least 30% of the entrants won't read this thread.

Last year I wrote a program to optimize total team score against projections from this site and the salary each player was listed at in the contest and got this team:Peyton Manning $31David Garrard $2Adrian Peterson $23 Cadillac Williams $21Brandon Jackson $15DeShaun Foster $13Andre Johnson $33Lee Evans $29Bernard Berrian $16 Santonio Holmes $14Demetrius Williams $3Wes Welker $3Jacoby Jones $2Dennis Northcutt $1Antonio Gates $35 Eric Johnson $1Rian Lindell $1John Kasay $1Nick Folk $1Minnesota Vikings $3Arizona Cardinals $1Houston Texans $1In retrospec it's an ok team, this year I'm going to adjust my strategy to get it to ballpark how much I should spend on each position (i.e. WR1 $25, WR2 $15, RB1$50, etc) based on how players are generally being priced and projected and use my own research to pick the best player from each price range.
Excel solver...using the VBD application data just before the deadline to optimize the team's value while also spreading out the bye weeks appropriately. Finished 8th in 2006, bowed out in week 10 or 11 last year, which was in large part due to injuries. Hoping to return to the promised land this year

And no maximum limit on positions--you can have 13 QB's if you want (as I recall there was a team last year with 7 or 8 kickers).

Has anyone gotten confirmation on these guys, they seem to be listed without teams in the entry form....

R Williams - 3

R Caldwell - 3

I'm assuming that this is Reggie Williams from JAX and Caldwell plays for NE, correct?

Roydell Williams cut by Tenn and Reche Caldwell cut by I forget who (played for NE like 3 teams ago)

My guess is Steve Slaton for $1 will be on a lot of teams...

I also second, that between this contest and the draft dominator, it is more than worth the price of admission! Great job FBG's!
