2010 Ultimate Survivor - 2nd Round, League 1 Thread (1 Viewer)

Eh, not my best effort. Had a lot of fun though. It seems to me after drafting in the second round of this the last two years (and actually drafting 3 different teams in the 2nd round last year to help some guys) that the secrets were to pay more attention to SOS than you would at the beginning of the year and to try to get some week 4/5 Bye guys, but don't go overboard and reach for them. I think I did a good job at that, but my roster looks pretty crappy, LOL.

QB:

Freeman, Josh TBB QB 0 4 8.12

Hall, Max ARI QB (P) 0 6 19.01

Orton, Kyle DEN QB 0 9 4.12

Happy with Orton. Really like Freeman this year, more than most. Having said that, I think Ryan was still on the board at the time. I already had several week 8 Bye players so I skipped him but that was probably stupid. Wanted a 3rd QB and Hall may surprise. Not a strong position.

RB:

Charles, Jamaal KCC RB 0 4 3.01

Forsett, Justin SEA RB 0 5 13.01

Hightower, Tim ARI RB 0 6 9.01

Jackson, Steven STL RB 0 9 1.12

Karim, Deji JAC RB 0 9 17.01

Like these guys. Jackson has some excellent matchups this round. Charles will play all 5 weeks barring injury. I do think he'll get more touches as the year goes on, but I don't expect him to be a bell cow. I've generally liked Hightower more than the consensus and I think Forsett stays involved even with Lynch there. Liked what I saw of Karim last week and who knows, MJD may break down. Pretty solid position.

WR:

Douglas, Harry ATL WR 0 8 16.12

Garcon, Pierre IND WR (Q) 0 7 7.01

Jones, James GBP WR 0 10 12.12

Nelson, David BUF WR 0 6 22.12

Nicks, Hakeem NYG WR 0 8 2.01

Smith, Steve CAR WR (Q) 0 6 11.01

Williams, Roy DAL WR 0 4 6.12

Average group. Glad I got 7 with only one Bye week in the past. Nicks is outstanding. Never been a Roy Williams fan but he has been producing well. I'm probably too stubborn on Garcon, but I still think he comes on strong. Smith North in the 11th seemed good, although I'm hoping for Moore to start again soon and I thought he was less Questionable to play next week. Might have been a mistake pick. Hoping to see James Jones come alive with Finley out. Always like Douglas and took a huge flyer on David Nelson with the last pick of the draft.

TE:

Gronkowski, Rob NEP TE 0 5 15.01

Hernandez, Aaron NEP TE 0 5 5.01

Moeaki, Tony KCC TE 0 4 10.12

Psychotic strategy of taking 3 rookie TEs, two from the same team. KC has a great schedule coming up for TEs and NE has a rough schedule for WRs. Hoping for a lot of looks to the TE from both teams. In five weeks I have a feeling I'll either be a genius or a moron based on these three.

PK:

Longwell, Ryan MIN PK 0 4 18.12

Vinatieri, Adam IND PK 0 7 21.01

Surprised that Longwell was still there. Already had a Bye week and with Favre in some injury trouble, I'm expecting more FGs than XPs. Happy to get the IND PK with their excellent schedule coming up.

DEF:

Dolphins, Miami MIA Def 0 5 14.12

Seahawks, Seattle SEA Def 0 5 20.12

Two very average defenses, but both with good upcoming schedules. Only took two since both have had their bye.

Overall, not a great effort. I'm thinking I finish 6th. Hope to overachive and get back to the title round.

My team:

Cutler, Jay CHI QB 0 8

Sanchez, Mark NYJ QB 0 7

Kind of weak compared to what I wanted to do here. Hopefully Cutler continues to put up big numbers. Both have bye week issues.

Blount, LeGarrette TBB RB 0 4

Graham, Earnest TBB RB (P) 0 4

Jones-Drew, Maurice JAC RB (P) 0 9

Lynch, Marshawn SEA RB 0 5

McGahee, Willis BAL RB 0 8

Moreno, Knowshon DEN RB (Q) 0 9

Was happy to get MJD at 9, but that will prove to be a bad pick if he does not turn things around. Got lucky Lynch fell and if Moreno plays this weekend, I think I got great value with him. Did not love the McGahee pick, but needed some RB depth at that point. Paired Graham/Blount as late round fliers. Wanted Karim here, but CBoy nabbed him.

Butler, Deon SEA WR 0 5

Collie, Austin IND WR (Q) 0 7

Gibson, Brandon STL WR 0 9

Harvin, Percy MIN WR 0 4

Jackson, DeSean PHI WR 0 8

Royal, Eddie DEN WR 0 9

Tate, Brandon NEP WR 0 5

The strength of my team- really like all of these guys especially since Harvin and Tate have no bye week troubles. Even like the chances for my late round guys- Butler and Gibson- to produce with recent injury of Clayton/trade of Branch. Royal in the 10th was a gift.

Carlson, John SEA TE 0 5

Gates, Antonio SDC TE 0 10

Lee, Donald GBP TE (P) 0 10

Another strength, which is unusual for me. I always wait on TE, but couldn't pass on Gates in the 2nd. He is the top scorer in this format so far. Carlson, with no bye issues, was going to be a fine backup/possible flex, but I could not pass on Lee that late, especially since Quarless went several rounds earlier.

Brown, Josh STL PK 0 9

Nugent, Mike CIN PK 0 6 0

Giants, New York NYG Def 0 8

Patriots, New England NEP Def 0 5

I do like my team and have a chance to advance, but I hated my 1st round team, so what do I know.

With Gates and DJax missing today and likely longer, I am off to a pitiful start. It has to get better from here. Good luck guys!

Actually, I'd think it's only going to get worse w/o Gates and DeSean. Tough breaks jeter - as a Charger fan I feel your pain.

Scores through Sunday night:

Mr. Pickles (195.95 pts)

paulpogo (189.60 pts)

tommyGunZ (174.05 pts)

Tat's Dad (158.50 pts)

ConstruxBoy (142.85 pts)

kip stabone (142.15 pts)

steelerfan1 (140.05 pts)

Kruppe (134.85 pts)

Tremendous Upside (127.25 pts)

jeter23 (121.50 pts)

bostonfred (115.50 pts)

Jewell (112.45 pts)

Nothing should change amongst the top 4; battle in the low 140s should be interesting. A win or two there could be the difference 5 weeks from now.
