I will give you that and since you are not trying to personally insult me I will give you a more thoughtful response. What I should have stated was that the game felt like a massacre especially after watching the beating that Jay Cutler took. I blame much of that on Martz's game calling which has been much improved as of late. I know that the game wasn't 46-10 but that game didn't sit well with me as a fan nor did it with the players I have heard interviewed on the radio. It also appears that the Lions game this year became a turning point for the Bears season much like the Redskins game was last year. Martz started becoming a more balanced play caller after those games. He still has some brain cramps every now and then because after all his is Mike Martz but he is finally starting to adjust his offensive system more to the talent that is around him instead of assuming that the players will adjust to his system. If you have read my posts you will see that I am not an alarmist and I actually have said some very positive things about the Bears. I still don't like Angelo but I think that Lovie and his staff are underrated. I still think sweetness_34 is being a jerk and is not worthy of his username.

That is too bad because he has been pretty good this year and the line has been much improved the past 3 weeks. Now I hope Carimi comes back really soon!
What a game for the defense (and special teams). it was nice to see the team respond so well to the rematch. The lions look like they are losing control, more really unexpected based on how much emotion they play with. When things are going well, they feed off it, when they get tough they collapse.

Just in case we were still needing a definition of massacre, I think we got one yesterday.
I would agree. I imagine most fans like me were angry after the first game so that game felt especially great!! I am starting to hate the Lions more than any other team in the NFL. It will be nice to see the Lions sitting at home during this year's playoffs!

This was the worst case scenario and something they gambled on not happening. No depth at our weakest position was a recipie for disaster. I hope to God they don't put Omelete back in the lineup or keep promoting guys from the damn practice squad. Losing Carimi and Williams for the second half of the season is devastating. I couldn't have been more shocked at how the OL came together either. :(

So picking up Spencer in FA does not count now as adding depth?I just heard about this. The Bears did fine in terms of adding depth. They even tried to get he Steelers OL, who is also now out for the year. You cannot do much if you lose 2 starters for the year. Just plain old bad luck. You cannot have 9 starters on the roster. No team does. At some point, the unproven/young back ups need to step it up when their # is called.

Sure, you could count Spencer as depth if he wasn't filling a slot left by Kruetz. You are correct, the Bears tried to add at least one more OL (which I was glad to see, and him being out for the year is inconsequential) but they didn't. And I don't know if it's correct or not, but according to ESPN the first team I checked (Packers) has 9 OL on the roster. The second team I checked was the Saints, they show 10. Here we go again with this garbage. I said I couldn't have been more shocked at how the OL had come together this season, which obviously means I was off on my assessment of the progress the OL could make. Outside of a few delusional homers, no one thought they would be playing this well. I couldn't be happier with how they have done over the last few weeks. If you're not alarmed when we lose our first round OT and starting LG, then I'm not sure what to tell you. I'll admit I never thought they would be playing this well. That's a fact, but I'm not a blind homer who thinks everything management has done has been great. They've still made a ton of dumb moves. If Tice can hold this thing together and Martz doesn't lose his mind again, there won't be a happier Bears fan on here. A good four game stretch doesn't equal the playoffs or a championship.

But carimi hasnt played...losing him doesnt change anything.about thr last 4 games. Losing williams is tough because hes.been playing well, but edwin williams is a pretty good run blocker. The bears lose something in pass blocking, but that wasnt a huge strength for.williams anyway. I think the garbage is the alarmists that freak out at every.roster move the bears make

So, the seventh round picks from the 2009 and 2010 drafts are starting at tackle. Last year's guard is this year's center. A center Seattle didn't want and an undrafted 24-year old are at guard.
The Bears probably have less money invested in their current active o-linemen than any team in the league.
They are going to turn into the new ground and pound for the rest of the season.
The Bears NEED (before next season) a modern, athletic pivot and a left tackle.

I agree with Statcruncher and only view Spencer as a fill in for the spot Kruetz vacated. I don't think they would have signed him if Kruetz agreed to terms. Spencer couldn't even win the starting job at center for which they signed him for but luckily he has filled in admirable for them at guard. They did go after Colon but he turned them down to remain in Pittsburgh. Colon got injured and was put on IR for the season. I don't believe they made an offer to any other free agents.Like most fans, right now I am more worried about Jay Cutler than I am about who the signed or didn't sign in the offseason. Wow, the Cutler injury sucks. I'm pretty much a pessimist by nature but I had visions of a small shot at redemption against the Packers at Lambeau Field in the playoffs. I like Hanie, he looks like a gamer from the limited action I've seen from him, but I don't see him guiding the Bears to the playoffs. As long as the Bears use the long offseason to add an impact player to the OL and WR position I'll consider this year a success even if they wind up 8 - 8.

I think .500, over the last 6, gets them in and the schedule is nothing to be afraid of. As long as they can keep the D and STs playing at the same level they have shown over the last 5 weeks, and keep even on the turnovers, they'll be fine.There are 3 teams to worry about when it comes to wildcard spots. 2nd place in the NFC East, Detroit and Atlanta. Those 3 and the Bears will be fighting for the 2. They have the H2H tie breaker against Atlanta (6-4), so that's basically a 2 game lead on themDallas (6-4) and NYG (6-4) still play each other twice and I think if Dallas can split with NYG, they win the NFC East because NYG has a grinder of a schedule (NYG - @NO, GB, @DAL, WASH, @NYJ, DAL) Right now, I don't think NYG stands a chance to get out of that schedule with anything better than 9-7 with at least 6 NFC losses. Detroit (7-3) still has GB twice and @NOIf I were to put my money on it today, Chicago and Detroit take the 2 WC spots. Atlanta has the next best chance since they have the H2H tiebreaker v Detroit. NYG doomed.

What an insightful comment!! I assume you are referring to the Bears losing Patrick Mannelly for the season since this post is right below that one. I bet what made you most angry this past offseason is that Angelo didn't acquire any depth at long snapper. There were a bunch of great ones available but he didn't do anything. They replaced Mannelly with a Clutts so we are in big trouble!

I really hope we make the playoffs and Cutler can come back for the postseason. If so, anything can happen. The Bears have a favorable schedule the rest of the way and could eke out 3-4 wins if Hanie plays decently. This week will be tough @ Oakland and I doubt they can win at Lambeau but the Broncos, Chiefs, Seahawks, and Vikings are all beatable teams.Sweetness_34

All we need to do is get in the playoffs. Who cares if we get the 5th or 6th spot? Hopefully Cutler comes back by then. My gut feel tells me this will be like 2005 when Grossman came back for the Falcons playoff game and won us that game to take us to the NFCCG gainst the Panthers. This sucks because Cutler has looked so good now in this system especially with Martz using his roll outs etc to his advantage

I know all breaks are different, but I broke my thumb in 2010 and it wasn't much of a hinderance a few weeks afterword and was completely good a lot sooner than I figured. And I didn't even have NFL big money people looking after mine.

Actually they had an orthopedic specialist on the radio (ESPN 1000) - who basically said the 6 week timetable is probably right for him to be "healed enough to play". The doc said the type of break is considered to be pretty severe (not like Big Ben's at all - different place, much more significant) - and the fact that Cutler actually made two more throws with it was amazing. The necessary surgery (requires inserting pin(s) into the thumb). The doctor indicated that with "normal" patients with this type of break are told about 3 months - but then quickly added that professional athletes are not "normal" patients. He also mentioned that Cutler being diabetic, while a cause for precaution (wound healing/infection issues slightly more likely) - he will be closely monitored and that aspect shouldn't come into play too much.Were you throwing a football as hard as you could?'The Man With No Name said:
