This looks like a repeat of last year for me, when Gavin Floyd, Matt Lindstrom and Ricky Nolasco conspired to dig me an ERA/WHIP hole it took a good two months to claw my way out of. Luckily I had the foresight to bench Scherzer vs. the Yankees, otherwise I'd be in even worse shape.

Last place sucks.

I'll go... my roster includes Evan Longoria, Brad Lidge, Matt Holliday, Johnny Cueto, Domonic Brown, Jeremy Guthrie, and Adam Wainwright (keeper). I don't have a single healthy player on my bench right now (and Guthrie is still in my starting lineup even though he just missed a start because I did not have any other healthy SPs on my roster and did not want to drop any of those players to pick anyone else up).

At least I should get at least a few of those players back in the next couple of weeks.

Oh Evan. And by the looks of the Rays lineup, poor guy has zero protection. Going to be a long year in Tampa, hopefully when he returns he can put up good numbers despite the lineup around him.

I'll put this in here instead of the other thread.

I joined my friend's league this year...what a mistake. 12 team league and the following players have already been dropped: Lester, Ellsbury, Hanley. Plenty of borderline guys as well, but with these guys WTF?

It's a free league but they allegedly all know each other and have played for years. I want to quit. WTF is the point in playing with these morons? Where's the fun in winning? Ugh, this is going to be a long effin' season.

Few things are worse than being excited to join a new league then realizing you're playing with a bunch of mental midgets.

 :hot:

Thankfully I seem to have drafted quite well in both my leagues and have been able to deal with a few rough starts/injuries.

Hanley Ramirez? Who did they pick up instead?

Yes, Hanley Ramirez. He dropped Hanley to pick up Maicer Izturis. Other guys he could/should have dropped? Fernando Rodney. Hong Kuo. Derrick Lee. Janish. Callapso. It's a 12 team league. Simply unbelievable.

it's almost like the razzball league where you try to have the worst team.

Dumb question since it's a free league, but any chance this guy is dumping players so his buddies can pick them up off waivers?

That's what I was thinking, sounds like fantasy rackateering to me. I would jump ship, that's pretty ugly and not fun.

I suppose that's possible but I can't see why they would do that. Especially because the team with the first ww pick has bigger needs than ss. It's baffling. I feel uncomfortable bailing on the league as the guy who invited me in is a good friend of mine and in my ff league. He's a good owner. Wish I could say the same about the others.

Never, under any circumstances, play in a fantasy league for free. Not only is it way too much effort for a 6 month season, but you end up with stuff like this.

#### you Matt Thornton
Not completely his fault. He gave up a single, K'ed a guy, got a grounder to short, and a soft fly out to left. Unfortunately, those last two plays were botched by fielders. Should have been a simple save.

know I saw the inning on TV. The HR was his fault. Im in a H2H pts league. We get -5 for BS, -5 for L, and 10 pts for a S. This week he has 2BS & a L which is -15 pts instead of 2S which is 20 pts. Thats a 35 pt swing. Im currently tied with my opponent. In other words, #### you Matt Thornton.

The point is the inning should have been over by then. But it's still on him to stay focused in that situation. He fell apart last night and you can't have that from your closer.

:goodposting: That's what I was trying to say by "not completely his fault."

No question he has to make a better pitch to Johnson, but let's not overreact from one outing where the defense clearly let him down. He's a good pitcher with good stuff. He'll be fine.

Maybe you are playing with jerks. My fantasy NBA league and my two fantasy baseball leagues are free. There have been zero problems.

Im starting to hate this #### already. I was down .67 pts in my H2H league going into tonight. My opponent has Pedroia, I have ARod. FML

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I seriously doubt you have 12 active and competitive owners making daily transactions for six months in a free league. If you do, I'm guessing you're all friends and have bragging rights on the line. If that's not true and its twelve random strangers, you guys really impress me.

In the NBA league, I do not know of the guys personally. Only three or four know each other in real life. The rest of us are just random guys that played in some leagues together over the years and now a crew was put together of 14 guys. I made the finals by the way. Amazingly close 5-5 game right now. We'll see about the baseball leagues. I'm only in the two this year. Last year I played in seven leagues- all free. The public one had a bunch of dead managers, but the private leagues all had active owners. There still are people out there who like free leagues and compete in them all season long. The most recent time I played in a money league was last year in football. It was a horrible experience. I got off to an 0-5 record but was the most scored upon team by a longshot. It was a 14-team league with 4 playoff spots, so at 0-5 I was for all intents and purposes done. Heck, at 0-2 I deemed it an extreme longshot to make the playoffs. It cost $5 to make a transaction. I never bothered to make one. It would have been nonsensical to waste more money. What I noticed was that the other also-rans made some moves the first four or five weeks and then they too also completely shut down.

Oh, and I have Josh Hamilton on that team too. While it's still early, I am starting to feel like I could have put my $50 entry fee to much better uses.

Think how much a movie costs. Those last 2 hours. Think how much time you'll spend watching your team crash and burn. It's a bargain!

Another owner just cut Youkilis. For Smoak. Is it wrong if I cut my entire team and tank it with the biggest group of scrubs I can find?

:lmao: That's exactly what I would do. Have to have a theme though... like all DH's... or LH hitting bench players. Or all Padres.

GIO GONZALEZ - stop walking people please. I love the ERA, but my WHIP sucks enough already...

ETA: Had a trade question: Uggla isn't doing much for me, and my team is going to win the homers, so I figured I would use my depth in the OF to upgrade. Here's the offer:

I give McCutcheon and Uggla

I get Rickie Weeks and Matt Cain

My staff is easily league worst in WHIP and ERA, and 3 of my 5 wins have come from closer who pitched the top half of the 9th tied, and they won it in the bottom half. I still have Gardner, Bourn, Pierre, Granderson, Bautista, Victorino and Pence as OF options. Looks like I should jump all over this right?

I'm more angered at the anemic A's offense not scoring any runs for this poor kid. And go accept that trade before the other guy comes to his senses.

I think it depends on your league size. If you play your cards right you should be able to stream some decent pitchers. But if the league is set up so you can't stream easily I'd make the trade.Gio is a wild guy. If you can't stomach the walks you should trade him. I love the kid but he's a ways from gaining good control.

Got cute and started Duensing as a RP instead of League b/c my opponent only had 2 closers and I have 4. Of course League's 2 saves last week would've clinched my victory.

My pitching staff has notched 2 wins in its first 100 innings. That has to be some kind of record. The icing on the cake was getting a ND out of Billingsley's 11 K/0 R gem last night while #######g Broxton flailed around for an inning and got a win. Here's my SP roster:

Max Scherzer—keeper (2 wins, but I had him on the bench for the ugly one vs. the Yanks)

Daniel Hudson—keeper (0 wins, despite pitching well; 4 total runs in support in three starts)

Chad Billinsgley (1 win followed by a brief meltdown; I'm feeling pretty good about him after this last start)

Ted Lilly (he's been ugly; has only gone past 5 innings once)

Brandon Beachey (0 wins; nondescript; typical young-guy-with-promise but only startable with a good matchup)

So I picked up Justin Effing Masterson, who has 3 wins and a sub-1 WHIP. This is one of those moves you live to regret the very next start when the house of cards comes tumbling down. But I'm so desperate, I need to hope the Tribe keeps rolling.

UGH.

MY ####IN CLOSERS SUCK!

Drafted:

Thornton (0-4, probably lost his job)

Hanrahan (happy with him so far)

Francisco (coming off the DL this week)

So I picked up Sale last week (yikes), Storen this week (only a matter of time IMO, look at his #s), and Rauch this week. I figured Id play Rauch as my 2nd closer until Francisco comes back. Only problem is I play in a weekly league and thus cant play Rauch cuz Francisco is due back on Tue and nobody knows who will get the save opportunities just yet. So I have to wait another week to see how things shake out. Meanwhile Im 0-2 and need this win desperately. That means I gotta start Ogando in my 2nd relief slot.

I drafted Thornton, Lyon and Kuo. I was really banking on Thornton being a monster this year.

Jimmy Rollins, batting in the 3-hole all year, has 1 ####ing RBI.

Peanut-head Polanco, batting in the 2-hole, now has 15.

:hot:

I am strarting 5 guys who weren't even drafted.

Sam Fuld, Logan Morrison, Jed Lowrie, Angel Sanchez and Justin Masterson

Not sure if that is a good thing or not

Four wins in the three days since this post. Whew.

H2H pts league. I own Kershaw, my opponent owns Kemp. :lmao:

If Kershaw holds on to the CG W. He scores 37. Instead he scores 17 and Kemp hits a walkoff in the 11th who scores my opponent 7. 27 pt swing.
