Gresham is young with a first round pedigree and he's already proven to be a "solid" producer. If he takes the next step in his development, look out. I can't count five TEs I'd rather have in dynasty. Injuries are the only way I think you'll greatly regret that trade.

Finley, Gronk, A Hern, VD, and Graham? Pettigrew has to be close as well...I do think he's worth more than 2.01 though...some of these deals aren't close to what they would cost in my leagues

And that is a concern, as he's got the knee questions in his past I believe. As for being top-5, I can't totally disagree.The TE position in dynasty is a very interesting one right now, because there are a couple of studs that are possibly even being overvalued in Graham and Gronk, a couple of studs who are under-producing in comparison with their talent in V. Davis and J. Finley, then you've got Hernandez, and then a bunch of the TE stars who's generation is dying out, in Witten, Gates, Clark, Gonzo, etc. Guys you might not want to be stuck holding the bag on soon. Some of them are already there.So then you have young, potential future studs in guys like Gresham and Rudolph who are still fairly cheap, and should be valued higher than they are, given their unique place in the TE hierarchy. A few years from now, they are almost default top-5 players at the position.

Yep. And guess which two TEs I was targeting in my most recent startup? I feel like those guys are the top value plays atm. Allen and Fleener are also representing pretty decent value in startups from the look of things.

Clearly the person accepting the two 2nds isn't very smart dynasty wise because this is an awful trade. And you can't blame someone offering a trade like that and the other party accepting.

That is ugly. I fortunate enough to have played in the same dyno league with the same 12 guys for 10 years. When people don't know everyone involved or the league has constant turnover these types of trades will happen.

This is an interesting trade involving Bradshaw. Pretty balanced, imho. I value the Bradshaw/D Jackson side a bit more, personally. Turner's age and lack of rec's is a ding to his value. And really, I guess I feel like Bradshaw (due to inj's) and Jackson (due to various antics) are better than they showed in 2011.

Indeed, this one is interesting.I think I like the Harvin side a little better. Turner plugs the hole left by Bradshaw for a year. But to upgrade desean to Harvin (and it's a decent upgrade, imho), that's worth it.

As I was able to turn Turner into Ryan Williams, I feel much better about it.

I don't know if you remember but a couple years back there was a theory that floated around these boards that a current year's 2nd is equal to the following year's 1st. Always thought it was a bogus idea, but in one of HA leagues at that time some player offer me something like a 2009 3rd for a 2011 1st because of discounting a round a year and honestly was offended when I told him that made about zero sense.

I disagree completely with this. Last offseason a team gave their 2012 1st for the 2011 2.03 pick during the draft (pick was at 2.02 when the trade occurred, so they knew who they wanted). The 2.03 pick was Cam Newton. The 2012 fist is the 1.11. Which is worth more now? Different league, someone traded for the 2.05 which became Demarco Murray, and the pick became this year's 1.08. I'd wager the guy who gave up his 2012 1st is pretty happy with Murray. I'm not saying it's always the case, but it certainly can be. Saying a current second is NEVER worth a future 1st is just plain wrong IMO.

I mostly agree with this point of view. I get that in theory the time value shouldn't be quite as high as it is, but it happens in the real draft as well. A team will trade their 2011 2nd and 2012 1st for a 2011 1st (like the Saints did last year).Plus, when you know who you are likely to be able to pick, it comes down to comparing where you'd pick that guy in a future draft. For example, last year, I traded my 2012 1st and 3rd rounders for a 2011 3rd and 2012 2nd. I used that 3rd as a developmental pick, Lamar Miller, and went on to have a good season while the other owner struggled.Looking at how the trade played out, I gave up 1.11 and 3.11 for 2.01 and Lamar Miller (12 team league). I think I clearly "won" that deal as I basically traded down 2 spots and got Miller for a late 3rd.

Don't forget, this pick WILL be a top 4 pick more than likely. That changes the whole complexion of the trade.

I disagree on the risk thing. In fact, since he's getting three decent pieces, I'd say the risk is significantly lessened. It may be more "risky" to assume Rice stays 1a/1b over the next two or three years.

Why? I don't think it's that lopsided. I'd take Davis over Cook and Dwyer/'13 1st isn't too far off Beanie, depending where the 1st is of course. If it's a late 1st I like B, an early and I think A. But I'm not a huge Beanie believer.

With 5th rounders and such I am presuming IDP which makes some of that mess of later picks actually reasonable fliers...I like Tebow more than some of the other responders, but this is a pretty large haul.

Your guessing it is is the 1.4. What if it becomes the 1.10. There always seems to be a team or 2, that keeps there 1st with the intention of losing. But in the end. An early 2nd this year is worth a 1st next year. Does someone trade that early 2nd for an early 2nd next year. Not likely. Picks are finicky type of trade. Usually done while on the clock as you are after someone in particular but there is nothing wrong with giving a 1st for a 2nd. Most owners think the best of their team and feel that adding a piece can help. A few years back I traded the 2.16 for a 1st the next year OTC. The 2.16 was Steve Slaton. The 1st I got the next year was Donald Brown. Now I was able to do a speculative trade with an owner and traded that pick for his as he thought he was a playoff contender and I thought he sucked and he stepped up vs the pick I owned(Not mine but have done speculative trades before> have won one by 2 pick spots and lost one by a pick spot). The next pick I got was the 1.3 where I took Beanie Wells(behind MOreno and Crabtree). After the rookie season for Slaton I lost the trade because his value was much greater than the 1.3 the next year. Now if you did not trade Slaton a few years later it looks terrible but his value was sky high after his rookie campaign. This year is a strong draft with lots of depth. Next year from the sounds of it has some nice names at top but not as deep. If you feel that adding a player now helps your cause in making the playoffs, than I would do it. BUt if your rebuilding and no chance, than of course I am not but that is in the eyes of the holder of the picks. Just like evaluating trades here. YOu get different opinions on lots of trades where some like one way and others like the other. In a league right now an owner put up a mock and in it he says to the guy. Trade your late 1st for a 1st next year. Well it matters which 1st of course. If it is an owner from a team that I think sucks, than for sure. But this owner has been SB champ and last year semi finalist and no way I trade it for his pick. Better come with more than your 1st.
