Good Positioning on that ball by Pagan

Tigers going to have to have a short leash here in case something gets started

Great at-bat, Miggy. C'mon Tigers - top of 7 ...time to bring in some runs.

DP. :sigh:

Fingers crossed hoping Fister can make it through the 7th clean. Should be the right move to have made the change. Settle down, Smyly.

Why would Leyland do that double switch instead of just bringing in Avila and have him lead off the 9th?
I thought that's what he was going to do after he left Laird in there to bat in the 8th. Laird isn't a threat to tie the game, thought Avila should have hit there to be honest. Maybe he's gonna pinch hit Avila for Infante. This is deadball Washington Senators hitting by the Tigers in this series, Wid Conroy-esque.

Staring down a double barreled shotgun of Vogelsong and Cain.........that is a tough spot.
Meh, Tigers do fine vs RHP regardless of caliber and the games are at Comerica where they are great. People wonder why I complained about this team for five and a half months this year, well...there you have it. That game was there for the taking and they just locked up. I'm going to Game 3, Eephus is in charge of witty comments until I get back.

There is no indication this group of chokers will do any better against RHPs in comerica. I hope they get swept because that is what their play deserves.

Genius Lamont ####ed the Tigers only shot at a run in that game. I can't stand that that old fool and McClendon will be back next year.

What a display of hitting by the AL Champs tonight! Made a pitcher with an 11 ERA look like Don Drysdale.

Sf has the wind at their back and I had to think last night was a mental blow. Detroit needs to win the JV games because there is no way san Fran is losing 3 in Detroit.
-Mental blow yes because Verlander is the best pitcher in baseball. -Detroit can't win 3 in Detroit? Huh?Let's see what happens tonight before we start calling shots.
I didn't get to reply to this sooner, so its a bit academic. The bottom line is, its simply hard to see Detroit winning 4 of 5 right now. Detroit didn't play poorly but SF played better. I think the Fielder send was a good one. Perfect relay got him, what can you do. With Vogelsong and Cain to go, and a team used to cold weather, things are looking rough. Detroit needs a rainout to get JV on the bump twice.

I usually hate Lamont and wish he would have been fired years ago but that was the right call. Despite Fielder slowing down when he was coming to third (thinking he was getting stopped), despite him running on the inside of the line, despite the ####ty slide and despite he's a fat ###...it took a perfect relay throw to get him by 3 inches. Tigers needed to take a lead in that game, and it was pretty obvious why after.
:2cents:He should have sent Santiago last year, I think he made the right call tonight.

With no out I think you have to hold Fielder.

But it was a gut call he made as the ball kicked out. Blanco made a helluva play to backhand it and make a great throw to the cutoff man.

There's lots of fingers to point to tonight, but Lamont is one of the last ones. Despite only being down 2 it felt like we were down 6-0 when Romo was in there. Give me a reason to believe, guys. Please?

11 teams have come back to win the World Series after being down 2-0.

I think if the Tigers want to really put the cherry on top of this painful season, they'll win the next three then lose game six in dramatic fashion to force an agonizing game seven. Par for the course really.

Should have shown Prince rounding third with the super duper slo mo camera so we could have seen the piano on his back a lot more clearly

McCarver's comment, after Fielder was thrown out at home (paraphrased): "If Lamont had it to do over again, he probably wouldn't send him."

No further comment necessary.
