Soooooo...does Fox have some kind of agreement with MLB that they won't show the replays of controversial pitches? They showed the chart for every single pitch on the last at-bat EXCEPT for the final pitch. Were they afraid to show that pitch because it was LOW???
Doesn't matter. Any little leaguer knows you DON'T TAKE a called 3rd strike, and especially in a situation with guys on base like that. Howard choked. He stood there and choked.

Not Low enough to take. I'm sorry I love Howard and all but he really needs to work on putting the ball in play more, he can't keep this K pace up.

Giants earned this one, heckuva series. Not sure how an ump can end a series on a LOW called strike though. That was complete bull####. It may not have made a difference granted, but still.

Came down to him not being able to handle Wilson's offspeed stuff. Switched him up twice. I'll give Wilson credit, offspeed 3-2 pitch was a good call.

:kicksrock:the Fox strike zone thing showed it right on the bottom of the zone. No way someone should be taking that pitch with a regular season game on the line let alone the final out of a playoff series.

He would have whiffed had he swung, wasn't expecting a change at all.

Exactly.

Wilson didn't get a couple calls on the outside corner earlier in the inning, so it's silly to cry about the final pitch.

They showed it. You can go to bed happy now.

I think the Rangers are considerably better, and could possibly even sweep, but I've been wrong all ####### month. One thing's for sure, the money teams laid a couple of eggs.

LOL, they showed it 5 seconds after I made that post. I still think the pitch was low, though.

Oh I was completely settled on the fact Howard would whiff to end it.You can't be a #4 hitter and strikeout 32% of your AB's. You just can't do that.

Wasn't Cody Ross claimed off waivers to stop the Padres from claiming him? At least that's what the Miami news said when he was released. BTW, he was released because the Marlins needed to take a look at their players of the future, not just this year but next. Next to Uggla, he was the most popular Marlin. Go Giants!

Congrats to the Giants.

Nice AB there by Howard. How the #### do you look at that 3rd strike, especially a hittable pitch like that?

Yeah then he acted like it wasn't a strike. Have no idea why a hitter like Howard is looking for a walk with a runner at 2nd down by a run when he's supposed to be their big hitter. I think that was pretty embarrassing.

:towelwave: :pickle: :pickle:

Congrats to the Phils for a great season, they Giants were lucky to beat them.

I will hope hope hope for a Giants vicory, but I have been conditioned to expect disappointment over the years. I really can't believe they made it this far. Four more wins, just four more wins.

 Uribe

 Cody Ross

 the entire bullpen

unbelieveable.

For those who think SF is a fluke... I just checked the half-season record. It was 41-40, 4th place in their division, 7.5 games out.

They finished 92-70, or 51-30 since the half way mark, or 102 win pace for the 2nd half. And they've been 7-2 in the playoffs against the Braves and Phils.

Their pitching is dominant. They have 4 of 7 games at home vs Rangers. Giants win the Series in 6.

Yeah, it was just a ####-block in case the Pads made a deal.

:goodposting: you don't take that pitch with your season on the line..Good job Giants- glad some ex-Phils will get to go to the series!

Where are you getting that number from? For the year, it was only 25%. For the series, it was over 50%. For his career it is like 27%.

and fwiw- FOX did show the chart for that last pitch. I thought it had looked low- but the chart showed it as right on the line. Because that chart, I'm sure, is flawless. whatever....

So the Hated Ones are in the Series. That very much displeases me. I've never been a Texas Ranger fan, but I'll be one for the next couple of weeks.
14ccp to you and the rest of the Dodgers. you guys are the worst fans in any major sport. just shut up.to the real baseball fans--great series, Phils. on paper you guys had the most talent in MLB...but when the Gmen can roll out these young pitchers in a short series, it evens everything out. sincerely, the guy who had a Mike Schmidt poster on his wall growing up as a Giants fan.

From 2005 - 2010K AB100 312181 581199 529199 610186 616157 5501022 / 3198 = .3196 :goodposting:All I'm saying is he needs to put the ball in play a little more.

Congrats Giants and their fans. We've been saying for 2-3 years now that no one wanted the Giants to get into the playoffs because they could be very dangerous with their top 3 starters. Now we know why.

It especially hurts to see my Phils go down with the games being so close and all the little things they did so well in past years going so wrong. Not to mention the NL finally had home field for the series and this is our last year with Werth. Missed plays, missed scoring opportunities, couldn't get a guy on 3B with 1 out home to save our lives, guys constantly stranded at 2B after getting on with no or 1 out, balls hit squarely in big spots getting snared for DP's, etc, etc.

Gotta hand it to the Giants, they hit alot better than I think anyone expected and in some clutch spots too. Just seemed like 1-2-3 innings for the Phils were few and far between and everytime we had a Giant with 2 strikes it was so tough to get that last strike. Enjoy the series and the ride guys.

Giants in 6With all the pitching these two teams have, the Giants can sneak out some 2-1 wins with a few timely hits.
After your Reds in 4 prediction this bodes well for the Phils. :wub:Considering the Phils have a much better lineup of hitters, along with almost four seasons of playoff experience, what makes you think the Giants can get the timely hitting instead of the Phils?
Because I've watched teams with big hitting get shut down over the years by great pitching. Giants are not a great match-up for the Phillies, and the Reds pick was shtick and I said as much. I really believe the Giants have a chance to win this series. Glad Philadelphia fans aren't overconfident. :lmao:
:goodposting: Can I consult with you before my next trip to Vegas? My track record betting on sports is not very good.

What a great series to watch. The Giants in this series reminded me of the Phils 2 years ago--solid pitching, timely hitting, minimal gaffes (with the exception of game 5), a manager who seemingly made all the right calls. I really believe this team will win the next series for these same reasons. As for the Phils, they'll be back next year. How can they not assuming H20 stays healthy? My concern is with their lineup. I really wonder if Utley and Rollins will ever fully recover from injuries. I think Howard has peaked and Raul cannot be a viable option anymore. Assuming they also lose Werth, that leaves them with a lot of question marks in the field. With all that said, I think they still win the NL east by a minimum of 5 games with a healthy H20 for the entire season.
