Who wins?

Well that stinks. You could tell pretty early that JV didn't have his good stuff last night. He was missing by a lot (regardless of what that ####### moron Tim McCarver was saying).

So JV was off and the Giants made some very good plays. Panda crushed a couple of pitches and they got a couple of breaks and - there you have it. A blowout. But its only one game. I expect Fister to pitch well tonight. If the Tigers win, they will be fine.

Panda made some good swings. The scouting report is that Panda is a low ball hitter. 0-2 and Verlander thows a 97 MPH fastball up high to get him to chase and he crushes it. Give Panda the credit he had a great night..it happens.

Zito reminded me of Frank Tanana in his final few years. Also I was at so it was tough hearing but was Verlander a little miffed when Jeff Jones came out to the mound? It looked like he shook his head like WTF are you doing out here. Then Panda blasted another one.

It's a long series but that's a big win
Very big winSo is Verlander a start in game 4?
Doubt it but if the Giants win tomorrow, maybe Scherzer in Game 3.
You don't think Verlander starts game 4? I still think they want him out there as much as possible.
I don't think Verlander has ever gone on short rest, Leyland's decision not JV's. Fairly sure the rotation for the series is Verlander-Fister-Max-Anibal-JV-Fister-Max regardless of what happens.Last night stung, obviously, have to win tonight and don't feel optimistic about it - felt we had to take last night.

Leyland didn't pitch Kenny Rogers in Game 5 in 2006 when Kenny was the hottest pitcher I've ever seen in the postseason. Plus the Tigers didn't have Max Scherzer then, no way they skip Scherzer for Verlander in a game 4 IMO.

Tigers win tonight its a best of 5 with 3 @ Detroit. Otherwise get the fork out out of the drawer again.

Carson Kressley is throwing out the first pitch tonight.

On another note..will Papa Grande throw another pitch in this series? Looks like they left the wrong pitcher off the roster.

Sf has the wind at their back and I had to think last night was a mental blow.

Detroit needs to win the JV games because there is no way san Fran is losing 3 in Detroit.

If bumgarner isn't shot, I think San Fran keeps steam rolling, Detroit wins game 3, sf wins game 4 and JV pitches them back to the bay where San Fran wins game 6.

I was totally shocked by last nights result. The giants have to feel sky high and invincible right now.

-Mental blow yes because Verlander is the best pitcher in baseball. -Detroit can't win 3 in Detroit? Huh?Let's see what happens tonight before we start calling shots.

That's because Rogers didn't bring his "dirt" to St. Louis. :P :boxing: Jokes aside, I was shocked by last night's game. You never expect Verlander to get lit up like that. The Tigers need to win tonight, especially with Vogelsong and Cain ready to go in 3 and 4.

Just one of those games. On the MLB Network they just showed that Panda hit three good pitches for HRs..they were not bad pitches or mistakes. A ball off the bag at third,,a couple of good catches by the Giant left fielder. Just one of those games.

Two hits on 0-2 counts. If Pablo hits one here, we won't have to see Valverde again in this series.
If we don't see Papa again, last night may be a net gain for the Tigers.

Verlander on the road this season was a very pedestrian 8-6 with an ERA of 3.57. At home Verlander was 9-2 with an ERA of 1.65. Last night was not all that shocking. The Tiger's best road pitcher of late has been Sanchez. In that regard, Sanchez would have been a slightly better selection to pitch tonight, although Fister has been decent on the road.

People were saying game 1 was a moist win, but I said up front as long as the Tigers take 1 of 2 they will be in good shape heading to Detroit. It really does not matter which game they took. But the pressure is definitely on Detroit tonight.

I heard this AM that JV said something like "what are you doing out here, you just gave the crowd something more to cheer about."

Safe by a foot

Announcers were wrong. Looking at the play from behind Fielder, it just looks like the ball is in the glove before it is. The other view showed he was safe. But it is an impossible call for an ump with they slide head first.

If you include 2006 - the Tigers have played some of the worst baseball in WS history that I can recall - they can't get anything right. Thankfully the are tied in this game and there is a chance to turn it around
