2013 Callups and F-ups: Who's on the horizon (1 Viewer)

Not really a call up but now that Cole is starting today and Wandy Rodriguez being placed on the 15 DL, rumors are strong that Charlie Morton will start on Thursday for Pittsburgh.

Bogaerts promoted to AAA.

I still doubt he'll get a callup to the big club this year but he's one step closer. Minor league fielding statistics are very limited but they don't give me a lot of confidence he will be able to handle SS.

What about Erasmo? Wins will be almost non-existant, but he should have decent ratios due to the ballpark and division he plays in, no?

K's won't be there either. The infatuation with rookie arms never ceases to amaze me...

Most of the guys on the Red Sox beat think he won't ever play a Inning as the sox SS... he is still growing and he is already 6'3.

I had to dump my AL team in a keeper league and had two offers. The tiebreaker was Singleton because I do think he will open as the 1B in 14. Nice to see this little blurb.

Jonathan Singleton went 3-for-3 with two home runs for Double-A Corpus Christi on Thursday.

Singleton has been crushing the ball since returning from suspension, batting .302/.406/.698 with five homers and 13 RBI over 15 games between Low- and Double-A. The 21-year-old could possibly push for a call-up this season and has a shot to be the Astros' starting first baseman in 2014.

I agree but SS is the only position he's ever played as a professional. The Orioles successfully converted Machado to a new position at the MLB level but Machado was a much better defender to start with and the conversion didn't happen during a pennant race.

I don't see why they don't give him some run at 3B for the PawSox. It'll give the organization some more flexibility if somebody gets hurt down the stretch.

Isn't that exactly what BAL did? (Convert Machado during a pennant race)

yeah, for some reason I remember him getting called up earlier in the season. His debut was Aug 9, 2012

Will Myers called up. Dropped Hart for him, which I didn't want but didn't have a choice. Will try to pick Hart back up when Gyorko gets healthy.

Speaking of all this... It sounds like Texas is going to try Profar in LF very soon to avoid sending him back to AAA.

More chatter about Castellanos coming up recently, especially with Dirks struggling. I don't see it yet though. By most accounts, Castellanos' defense still needs a lot of work. Plus, Avisail Garcia has hit well this year.

I think if they need a jolt in the outfield, it's Garcia.

And Rondon will almost certainly be back up at some point this year.

And of course Alvarez is starting the next couple in place of Anibal. He has pitched really well in AAA this year and did great in his one start a couple weeks ago. Keep an eye on Sanchez' status to see if Alvarez sticks around for a while.

Speaking of Castellanos, any guesses on the best spec July/Aug prospects?

If there's nobody terribly intriguing, I might start looking to clear some space for Bogaerts and hope he gets a call in Sept.

Brad Miller coming up to man the high post for the Supersonics.
Would you drop Dozier for him (also have Franklin)?

Dozier's now predictably cooling off, but still has 6 BBs to 4 Ks over the last 7 and I really can't bring myself to cut a guy that had a 4 HR week 2 weeks ago. Franklin hasn't really had prolonged cold spell yet.

Might have to drop Quentin for Miller.

Taylor Jordan may get the call to replace Haren.
Is he the goods?
As a Nats fan, I don't know. He's making a big jump from AA (and started the year in high A). He was not high on the prospect lists coming into the year either. He's been pretty dominant at those levels though. I'd probably give him a start or two and see how he's doing. If he fails, Haren will be back to take his spot back.

Seattle GM said Erasmo would be called up soon. For the ROS, woudl you rather have him or Cingrani/Wheeler?
Grabbed Erasmo in one league, thanks. Picked up Sonny Gray in that same league also (10 player minors and my team stinks...called up Rendon and carrying one of these guys on the active roster).

Not an easy question, but if any of you have insight on this.........

In another league, from a keeper perspective only, would you rather have Erasmo Ramirez over any of these guys:

Clayton Blackburn

Andrew Heaney

Allen Webster

I'm also holding longshot guys like Vogelbach and Trayce Thompson from the hitting side.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on Sano. Probably not going to be called up at all this year, but I don't want to miss out if he is.

Tons of power. Hopefully, he'll learn to speed up those HR trots.

Not available to our league yet, and I'm holding the 2nd waiver spot.
I just dropped mejia for him. Those bone spurs scare me. Don't have a tremendous need but it's the upside flyer. I did cut yelich for him

Anyone else in the hopper or are in Wake me up in September mode? Travis D'Naurd up for maternity leave but talk that he'll keep the job at catcher
