Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters that
Andrew Bailey was not available to pitch in the ninth inning of Thursday's contest against the Blue Jays due to biceps soreness.
The Red Sox rolled with Joel Hanrahan in the ninth to close out a 3-1 victory.
Bailey initially felt discomfort in his biceps Wednesday. He has not appeared in a game since April 28 and his status remains up in the air for the next few days. The Red Sox will use Hanrahan if Bailey is not ready to return during their three-game weekend set against the Rangers.
"He was able to put a ball in his hands, but it didn't feel right, as he said, so we're not going to take any chances with that, particularly with Joel being back healthy," Farrell said.
