2013 Hall of Fame Induction thread (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
7pm tonight on NFLN and ESPN2. This is one of the best days of the year because the HOF inductions signal the *official* beginning of football season! :excited: Your 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees:

Larry Allen

Cris Carter

Curley Culp

Jonathan Ogden

Bill Parcells

Dave Robinson

Warren Sapp

Really looking forward to hearing Parcells and Carter, in particular. Personally, I cannot stand Sapp. He's a woman-beater, he never shuts up and he bad-mouthed the Raiders even though he had no problem cashing their checks. But I will reluctantly listen to his speech because I respect his on-field accomplishments.

Cris Carter is a ####. I would rather let Sonny Corleone punch me (and hopefully miss by five feet) than have to listen to thirty seconds of Carter's speech.

LOL. I guess we all have someone in this class we don't like. I admire Carter for overcoming his demons. Should be a very emotional speech.

I hate Sapp even more because I will not listen to one second of that ignorant *(alleged) girlfriend beater's speech. It is so hard for me to even watch NFLN because of Sapp, Irvin and Dukes, over opinionated loud mouth morons, and yes that is how I really feel. :-)

I will watch Carter's unless he starts babbling too much and going overboard the way he love's to do. The best part of this weekend is that the NFL season is just around the corner.

*Edited for accuracy.

Amen

I go back and forth daily trying to decide which guy I despise more... Sapp or Dukes. It's like the NFLN is poking us with a stick on purpose.

Also, they just interviewed Carter and he's flying by the seat of his pants.... he didn't write a speech. Love him or hate him, the guy is a passionate and gifted public speaker. I'd be shocked if his speech isn't one of the most memorable ones ever. Many folks dislike Irvin, but his speech knocked it out of the park in '07.

Larry Allen. I'd put him in the top 5 Cowboys of all time. Thats sayin something.

Love me some Big Tuna! Just love his style. He's not afraid to say anything to anyone. He tells it like it is, period. In this day and age when everyone gets their little feelers hurt, I appreciate a guy like Coach Parcells.

I didn't know about this

"Carter's most selfish act came in 2003, when Bill Brown was supposed to be inducted into the Vikings' Ring of Honor. Carter told then-owner Red McCombs he wanted to be inducted that year, so Brown was bumped to 2004. Brown had been looking forward to the 2003 induction because his wife was ill with diabetes and Brown wanted her to see him have his day. Brown's wife died before his 2004 induction."

Warren Sapp's daughter looks exactly like Warren Sapp, which is not good for Warren Sapp's daughter.

Has Berman shut up yet. Do we really need the really long red carpet to hear him screaming and getting his schtick in.

So glad to see Ogden get in. Been a fan of his since he was at UCLA. Such a great tackle. Fantastic size and strength, but very nimble feet too. UCLA used to punish teams by having him pull and lead sweep after sweep. Loved watching him come around the corner and annihilate the poor defenders tasked with taking him on.

Total class act

How about we celebrate careers instead of constantly whining about what jerks these people are?

If the mirror was turned around on you guys I'm sure the comments would be interesting.

These are the NFL Hall of Fame inductees for 2013, how about we celebrate their careers instead of tearing them down like #####y women?

Or have I looked this thread up on needleworkgals.com?

As a Ravens fan, I get the willies every time I recall Modell wanting Lawrence Phillips instead of Ogden. Thank God he deferred to Ozzie.

Jon was a little more animated than I thought he'd be. I've met him a couple of times and he's soooooo laid back - fun, but just......serene, I guess. Maybe the nerves got him a little peppier tonight. Also, props to him for having the balls to thank Modell in that state (whatever any of us may think about AM).

Anyway, if he's counted as the first Raven he's done the franchise proud.

He deserves it but I cant stand Parcells. The way his departure went down left a sower taste. Pats fans deserved better.

Allen's speech is going to be interesting. He seems painfully shy.
Good call here.
The snot-sucking is distracting, but he is engaging.
Definitely. Heartfelt.
Being cogent is also an upgrade from the previous guy.
Come on. He said some really interesting things, and had a pretty "big picture" view of the NFL for a guy his age. It was fascinating.

I couldn't tell, sorry. I bet it was great though.

Did I miss this?
