2014/15 UK Basketball - :pours40out: (1 Viewer)

Lyles is the only one who brought his jump shot, and 10 turnovers in the first half.

And it doesn't ####### matter because their interior D and transition D is so good.
Both teams playing tough D though - Louisville just very effective as a physical team.
I've been impressed with both teams defensively. Louisville had been a a bit sloppy after their press got broken in earlier games, but they've gotten the halfcourt defense organized quickly today. Their matchup zone is designed primarily to get shooters off the three-point line, but they've adjusted it today to make UK initiate the offense farther out than they're used to.

Commentators have talked about Louisville missing open looks, but the open misses have been non-shooter out of range, and Ville has launched more than their share of contested/close D jumpers, even after effective shot fakes.

:goodposting:

Some of that is nerves, some is just players just outside their comfort zone, and a lot of contested shots.

Harrell had a couple bad possessions in hero mode with that drive down the middle and that bad three, but overall he's been great.

Ville is starting to see ghosts over their shoulder on shots, and getting killed on the glass.

Can't decide if I have a bigger crush on Ulis or Towns.

I know Booker finished that 2-on-1 just fine, but IMO he needed to oop that #### to Towns. He was alone on the block.

Wow. Just in the little bit I've watched, Kentucky might be the best defensive team I've seen since Georgetown in the 80s. These dudes lock down. Most of the baskets I've seen Louisville make have been off-balance, lucky shots.

LVille's lack of shooters makes it that much easier b/c they need to try and force it into the paint to generate offense

Good luck to Ville throwing into the paint. Their bigs' legs are already gone.

It looks like they have run out of gas - lets see if they have any reserves

Go with Ulis
I first noticed him at one of the high school all-star games. He was actually trying to run an offense and distribute in all that chaos. Can't double off him today. He's spotted up twice for threes off the pass and hit both of them.

Gonna take a team with a JJ Reddick or Curtis Staples type to knock UK down, methinks.

I mentioned the Ewing Hoyas above as the best defensive team I've ever seen. But those guys were the same size - besides Ewing - as the guys they were matched up against. UK is bigger at every position than even a team of thoroughbreds like Louisville.

Agree with Bilas though - UofL is a final-4 capable team, need to work on hitting some outside shots, but they are right there with UVA as the next best defensive team in the country.

UK has the 2nd biggest starting line-up in the country - behind only the Portland Trailblazers

Louisville's D was fine, but they couldn't get a clean shot off. Half of their made FGs were prayers.

Not sure which 2 coaches are not voting UK #1, but hard to argue with the non-conference schedule. Kansas, Texas, UNC and Louisville - throw in UCLA and Providence as non-cupcake teams.

Buffalo is going to be in the hunt for the MAC's tournament bid, too.

Going to be an aggressive OOC schedule for UK next season, too. Louisville as always, Duke will be up in their Champions Classic rotation, and probably going to play Kansas in the Big XII/SEC Challenge.

Had to run out to the store, and listened to the local post game show - callers really getting on Andrew Harrison. He had an off game, and a bit of a confrontation with Cal, but UK won't win it all without him. He needs to get back to just playing within the confines of the game, and stop trying to do too much.
