I'm sorry to say this is my perception of Irvin's skill set for the moment. Further, its no guarantee that he will be healthy at the start of the season. This said, I won't be surprised to see him still develop into a dominating stat hog. He's got freakish athleticism. He's surrounded by other solid talent. He's played outside linebacker for just under a year. I believe the Seattle coaches still believe in his potential.Could some one tell me what they think about Bruce Irvin heading into the season? I have him on my taxi squad in one league, but I'm seriously thinking about dropping him. I get the impression he is more of a pass rusher? Will he see the field in early downs? How will he be used?
It is a tackle heavy league, so if he is just a guy who gets a sack now and then his value is pretty low.
EDIT: You sound like a guy that would want to hear about interesting prospects. Seattle drafted Kevin Pierre Louis out of Boston College at the end of the 4th round this year. Probably worth a look. Seattle is enamored with freakish athletes in terms of speed and size. KPL is that guy from this past draft. Not a lot of linebackers out there running 4.5 in the forty. His speed and explosion measurables are off the charts. LINK to KPL highlights and combine.-- Quinn reiterated that Bruce Irvin's role is at SAM linebacker on base downs (1st and 2nd down) and then a defensive end pass rusher on 3rd downs. This allows the team to get Irvin on the field more and utilizes his athleticism in different ways.
Richard Sherman is owning life right now. He can talk all he wants.Richard Sherman needs to shut his mouth.
Technically speaking, anybody can talk all he wants, no matter his success in life. The content of the chatter means more than the caliber of the person doing the talking. Egotistical rants and #### talking monthes after an altercation count as worthless subjects in my book. I wouldn't listen to my co-worker spout such babble; I doubt you would either. Somehow, Sherman manages to get headlines for it.Richard Sherman is owning life right now. He can talk all he wants.Richard Sherman needs to shut his mouth.
I know... imagine what they'll think when he approaches 2,349 posts of douchebaggery!I like it. The more he talks, the more the world sees how much of a tool he is.
Sherman agrees with you. When someone tried to ask him about it this past week he refused to comment. He didn't bring the subject up again this week. An interview he did months ago was aired for the first time. The media wants you to think he is responsible for bringing it up again. They do this because they know guys like you will respond with predictable emotional outrage.Egotistical rants and #### talking monthes after an altercation count as worthless subjects in my book.

Is there a reason *why* he sent you this stuff? Seems very random otherwise...So I got the mail today and Cortez Kennedy sent me some autographed football cards. That doesn't happen very often. Mind. Blown.
I know this doesn't really belong here but I couldn't find a 'Cortez send me stuff' thread![]()
Long story short... I was born in Seattle but grew up on the East Coast a Seahawk fan. My dad's best friend ran a ticket business in Seattle that did high end Seahawk/Sonic/Huskie tours. He was very connected to the team. He knew I was a huge fan so I'd get stuff in the mail from time to time... play off ticket stubs, Christmas cards from the team, 12th man towels. In 1994 I got two front row tickets, 50 yard line, to opening day at RFK stadium where they pounded the RedskinsIs there a reason *why* he sent you this stuff? . He passed away this past year (sadly before the Super Bowl) but his wife asked his former assistant (who is very good friends with Cortez) to send me a note. I was completely unaware of it all so it knocked me off my feet. What a great surprise
I'm sorry to hear the man passed away, but otherwise this is very cool. I've got a Cortez autographed mini-helmet I acquired somehow (I honestly can't remember and it includes many players and extends through multiple teams since it has Tez and Steve Largent on it). I also have this crazy signed Deion Branch softball jersey.Long story short... I was born in Seattle but grew up on the East Coast a Seahawk fan. Im focusing on the DLine, Scruggs, Marsh, Mayowa. Im also excited to see PRich and Cmike. Along the Oline I think/hope Carp is going to have his best season and Im pumped/jacked to see what happens at RT.Morning campers. Welcome to a new and different feeling. Reigning champs. That's kind of cool.
Curious to hear who you homers are going to be paying close attention to during camp. Easily going to be the #5 and possibly #6 receivers for me as well as the LEO on the defensive line.
WR: IMO Harvin, Baldwin, Kearse, and Richardson are the locks. That leaves Norwood, Matthews, and Lockette battling for the remaining spot(s). I could see lots of scenarios working themselves out here.
LEO DE: Would love to see Marsh step in right away and win the LEO spot, but it seems that perhaps Mayowa may have the upper hand at the moment.
What camp battles will you be focused on?
I'm curious about WR and I think you have those locks right. I see Norwood making it and I think Lockette has an advantage due to special teams.Morning campers. Welcome to a new and different feeling. Reigning champs. That's kind of cool.

In the comments below the article fans report Matthews looking slow and having several drops.Past Harvin, I thought the other standout at receiver was Kevin Norwood, a Seahawks fourth round pick this year out of Alabama. He caught three sideline passes (that I saw) after running deep outs or crossing routes, and provided exactly what had been projected -- a big target with soft hands. He displayed great body control to go up and get one off-target pass that came in at an awkward angle, and smoothly brought it in and turned upfield to run. I can see how this guy developed a reputation as a "quarterback's best friend" with the Crimson Tide.
I went to TC today and I specifically watched the WRs. (Bowie was injured and out today so I didn't bother with RT. I also watched the RBs a bit.) Holy #### man, that is pretty awesome.Any comments on this post in the Seahawks Team Spotlight thread? I thought it might generate some interesting discussion.
Thanks. I worked through the projections in the order they are presented in the post, and I originally planned to project Wilson a bit lower than last year. But then I started working through the receivers, and I ended up having to bump Wilson's yardage up to make them match. They are definitely aggressive projections for Wilson, Harvin, and Baldwin. I am probably higher than anyone on Wilson and Baldwin, in particular.Holy #### man, that is pretty awesome.Any comments on this post in the Seahawks Team Spotlight thread? My only thought is whether Wilson's YPA will go up with more passes thrown. The natural assumption here is that we can't throw the ball down the field deep more so we should see designed bubble screens to Harvin which may lower his 7.9 YPA. If Richardson sees more time though I'm wondering how he affects the field vertically which might work to your advantage given the intermediate field more room.
At any rate, great job.
Happen to notice position leader in the RB group? Here's some pictures I took at Sunday's training camp if anyone's interested...

Nice job... always nice to have bright sun when shooting at 300mm. I may borrow a few of these for my desktopHere's some pictures I took at Sunday's training camp if anyone's interested...

I have strong memories of Darrell Jackson and Koren Robinson goofing off in the back of the line with the WRs while Ricky Watters was a great pace setter with the RBs.
Go right ahead. None of those are good enough quality to ever be sold.Nice job... always nice to have bright sun when shooting at 300mm. I may borrow a few of these for my desktopHere's some pictures I took at Sunday's training camp if anyone's interested...

I've got to say, shooting sports is really hard to do. I had to set it to "P" to get anything of value, although in hindsight I should have set the aperture priority instead so all of the shots were definitely in focus. The Sherman tip would have been great if the camera didn't decide to set the aperture too low.Yeah, the stuff I saw from Pryor didn't look terribly good either when I went last weekend. He ran around a lot and got off a few passes but he mostly was inaccurate. Of course on Tuesday he had a great bomb to Richardson; of course, Richardson was so far open I could have hit him.Just got back from training camp, short practice (no pads) today, only 1.25 hours.
Couple of observations from my untrained eye:
- Terrelle Pryor looked awful. Threw two picks without pressure, did not look comfortable at all.
- Lynch showed up about 30 minutes after practice started, did not participate in any drills.
- Richardson played a few snaps, did not see Norwood participate. Heard later that both may be a bit dinged up.
- Legion of Boom looks tough, Simon will be a great addition - long and lean.
- Harvin very active, lots of passes to him across the middle.
I think Winston is going to be a great fit overall as he has experience in the ZBS and doesn't miss time with injury. Of course, I don't think he's as strong of a pass blocker as he is in run blocking so ideally we would continue to churn and get better depth there when possible. I actually wouldn't be too surprised if Carroll pulled him on obvious passing situations for a better pass blocker--he's done it before so I don't see why he wouldn't continue to do it.Hooper31 said:Bowie being injured/released is a major concern. No idea if Britt is going to be ready for the starting spot. I wonder if they knew the situation when they signed Winston. This could be bad.
I think it may be a little chippy for the first few plays from each team but then it will likely become ho-hum preseason football. Week 3 on the other hand could be quite interesting.Ok peeps, I'm curious what you guys think about the upcoming preseason game. Obviously last preseason we player and destroyed the Broncos. After the game the Broncos and their fans cried about it "just being preseason" as well as how that didn't mean a thing. Of course six months later we destroyed them again.
So the question is: do the Broncos continue to just take it easy or will they feel like they have something to prove in this game? If you think they have something to prove, do you think this game might turn into something a little more real than a regular preseason game? And finally, do you think there will be any cheap shots?
Have to agree with all of your comments here.My initial game thoughts....
1. Turbin is not a starting back in the NFL.
2. Maxwell got a wake up call, and his head shrinks down to normal size.
3. Britt realizes the game is much faster at this level and makes adjustments.
4. Sherman is so good, they don't even throw his way during the pre-season.

Give Britt a chance playing with the #1 line. All the starters are back so lets see how he does this week.3. Yeah, Britt didn't look good at all on his pass blocking, but I thought he was scoring plus grades on the run blocking. I expect Winston to start for the season.
Certainly. It's worth mentioning it is nearly impossible to know what the assignment was on those pass blocks so being with the 1s will be very telling.
